Just bought one for my bass player in the Dukes of Charteris. He was playing my Squier Jaguar short scale, and saw this one. I had to search all over for a green one; they sell on Reverb for more than new price. The waiting time was end of the year, but I found one in Montreal. It does fill the room with chocolate syrup. That green! Lovely!
Gorgeous looks and tone! Love those pickups..very similar to the humbuckers on my Fender Starcaster bass form ~8 years ago. Edit: just noticed that the Empire Music logo changes color to match the demoed instrument. Also the lighting is better now from the Squier Sonic Precision video 👍 🎸
Excuse me Anthony but the price is actually $349 USD !! Joking but Fender (and Empire!) have this $100 off for a while now, so it's an even more insanely good value instrument than it was before!
This seems very similar to the 2013 Fender Modern Player telecaster bass with the two wide range humbuckers. I had to swap out the stock 250k pots to 1M and change the tone cap to get it usable. I wonder which pots are installed in this one, probably 500k.
The modern player basses that I've owned or played were really solid instruments that were sadly hamstrung by cheap electronics...one of my favorites is a '13 dimension bass that I replaced that 3-coil pickup and weird wiring harness on and now it's a keeper
@@jasondorsey7110 Didn’t those have the strange slightly oval humbuckers in them? Where did you find a replacement for it as it’s quite the non-standard shape?
@@MichaelJ023 No, the modern player variant had a soapbar-sized triplebucker, which was supposed to be the novelty of it, and the wiring harness consists of a volume and a 5-way rotary switch for coil selection, but no tone pot which is also weird...I had SD make me an overwound version of their NYC soapbar humbucker, and I made up a new wiring harness with volume and tone and a 3-way miniswitch for parallel/single/series on the pickup, now it's got a wide range of useable tones
Please could you do a video showing your rig/ recording set up? It would be nice to know what you're using to get those awesome tones in your videos. Regards Sam.
If you find the mustang pj too bright with the stock pickups, consider switching them out with some aftermarket upgrades, it would be cheaper than buying a whole nother bass
I disagree about it not being a good slap bass. Idk what you're playing it through; i run mine through a Mesa d800+ Subway head and a pair of Bag End 1x15's, and slapping on the Rascal is soooo good. I have to use the low pass filter on the amp to tighten up the extreme low end, and with the right eq, that bridge pickup gets very music man-sounding.
I was thinking the same thing. I have the 32” Affinity Jaguar H. I was thinking of adding a bridge pickup so when I saw this I thought wait a minute, but the 30” scale is too short for my needs.
@EmpireMusicPgh there are very few reviews of this bass out there that focus on showing the tone and over all sound of this bass. Lots of information tho.
I walked into a GC today thinking I was going to buy a different bass. A low and behold this baby was sitting there waiting

Yeah...these ended up being an instant cult-classic. Killer little basses, that sound MASSIVE! Thanks for watching - Anthony
I Just got mine which is a "limited run" in Candy Apple Red!! Playing it through my Fender 100 W Rumble! ABSOLUTELY SOUNDS GREAT!!
just bought one. cant wait for it. That tone is exactly what i was hoping it be.
i call it “woody”
just bought this bass absolutely love it
Cool lil bass. It sure has a vintage vibe on the neck pickup. Thanks Anthony!
First time watching one of your revues. Excellent! Honest and informative!
Sounds great, looks cool, neck pickups up close to the fingerboard sound phat, nice colour.. Winner!

Went to check these out a couple of days ago. The shop had 2 in Sherwood Green and BOTH were damaged straight out of the box.
Great bass playing! Fantastic presentation, thanks!!!
Vey cool bass. Yours is the second positive review I have watched. I already have Paranormal J '54, and I might get this one too.
I bought the Paranormal 54 on a whim, and it became my main bass. It's a GREAT instrument.
Thanks for Sharing Anthony definitely a looker 🎸🎶🎵
The best review of the 'Little-Rascal' on YT period, TY 😁👍
A custom shop version would be insane ..
What a beauty!!!
Great Squier bass 👏👏👏
I just bought this bass because i saw that smile and seemingly feeling very fun vibe i get from u and also from Lobster's
Lol lobster sold me on this bass
Thanks for this. Helpful.
Great video man, thanks for uploading it.
Color great matching with stool behind🟢

HAHA.. I think was accurate at the time of filming! Thanks for watching - Anthony
Nice color,I was waiting for your Friday morning show. Would you change anything if it was yours 7:47

How tall is the dude playing the bass????
Someone said the Rascal is "the best Thunderbird bass ever". 😆
Good Job
Sounds like it would be a nice complement to my Mustang PJ bass, which tends to the bright side. Do you think?
If you find the mustang pj too bright with the stock pickups, consider switching them out with some aftermarket upgrades, it would be cheaper than buying a whole nother bass
If one could afford it...
It seems like a P and J bass difference - if you can afford both, get both. But is it the same kind of thing?
Cool Bass
Would be great with flats
Was this a rascal Flatts pun?
Do you get like an overdrive or kind of dirt sound ? even if is “ clean “
lower pickups, theyr rly hot, make good height setup for that split pup
Does it fit in a p bass case?
Has anyone found a suitable gig bag for this cool bass?
Someone says it’s pretty much a straight fit for his Jazz bass Case due to the size being large for a SS
Would like to hear it through an Ashdown or Orange amp
Why those two ?
Simply because i use these 2 brands for amplification
Sounds like it needs a setup quite a lot of clank/buzz. Beautiful looks though.
Really cool how Anthony was pleased out of the box. Sucks he’s shit at playing and listening.

👍👍👌
Cool, the Fender mudbucker.
With so much body left behind the bridge, it's a shame they didn't move it back a bit and make this a 32" scale
Would it be possible to pop a P or J neck in there and even make it a 34"?

why must you tempt me so badly
They definitely need a wider variety of colors for this one
This is not usually a dark sounding bass. Seems like this example has a wiring problem.
TAKE MY MONEEEEY
It's crying out for flatwounds
Figure out how to work the damn thing before you roll tape.
Not great video
I'll do better next time.. I promise. - Anthony
