So like 3 days. It’s fun for now but I have already had multiple games where I’m the only healer, we have no tank and so forth. Those issue will only get worse as time goes on
He mentioned overwatch has had years to build its library of skins. Implicit in that statement is the belief the his option on skin variety will improve given time. He had some other criticisms about the skin art design but most were warranted. I will say though that his off hand comment about the MCU wolverine skin being like "making players pay for his classic design that he grew up on" was insane. It feels criminal to only bring up a Marvel Rivals predatory monetization practice in a video comparing the game to overwatch.
@snowdoll622 How? He talks about all the points of how OW2 fell off and Marvel Rivals is taking its place in its own way. How it should stay having its own identity as well. I am confused... Did we watch separate videos?
People want Marvel Rivals to do well in order to murder Overwatch. I want Marvel Rivals to do well not just because I genuinely love Marvel stuff, but also so that Overwatch gets better out of pressure. Win-Win
My reasons: Free to play, Amazing art style and gameplay, 33 characters at launch (that aren't pay walled and can be played immediately 😉), legacy characters I literally grew up with, 6v6, Team up mechanics...
6v6 is literally insignificant in the OW vs Rivals discussing when Rivals has no role queue bro you sound like your head is empty 😭 “we get to have 5 DPS and 1 strategist in rivals it’s so much better than 5v5!!!” Headass LMAO
@@SirenRyan lol stay mad that OW couldn't stick to their guns and had to back pedal 😂. If it ain't broke don't fix it. But Blizzard learned late, thus "Overwatch Too" 🤷🏽♂️. And regarding role queue, who gives af if it's just casual? Save that for people who wanna play competitive. In the meantime, continue letting us casuals have a blast beating ts out of each other as our favorite characters in peace ✌🏽.
This game feels nothing like overwatch, I really don’t get why people keep saying it’s just a copy. The only thing that I see the same is that their hero shooters.
A lot of the cons he mentions repeatedly is that a game that hasn't even been public for 1 week is less fleshed out than a game out for years and still isn't well balanced.
Lets be honest, Overwatch came out and if felt better than Rivals at launch. And he didn’t complain that it wasn’t balanced he literally said for them to keep it unbalanced.
I'd still be playing the heck out of Overwatch if it didn't have this one problem. I play on console (Asia Server) mainly late at night since that's when I get the time. In overwatch, after 1 am, there are no players regardless of how much you try queue for quick play (All roles and Open Queue). The best thing about Marvel Rivals is you can queue up both in console and Pc pool to at least find a match. In Overwatch, You'd need someone a PC player to stack with in order to find a match in the PC pool.
The game is on it's honeymoon phase right now so it's really hard to tell how the game is and if the fundamentals of the game are flawed. Still haven't had a lobby where it fells like at least more than one person knows basic overwatch stuff (I know it's different game but some stuff still carries over). Anyway, Freedo I think you should definitely cover this game. If you branch out to another game it's to do it again later so it may help you later in your youtube career.
Perhaps an unpopular perspective, but by far the most rational one. The game is new, it has a sense of novelty to it and it's backed by an IP that is beloved by many. Only time will truly tell how the game holds up.
overwatch is garbage, i hope this game does everything the opposite of what overwatch did in it's suicide. like, pandering to the 'competitive esports' 14 years old. and instead just be a fun game for normal people.
@shane3744 watch the full video pal :)) he literally critiqued snows similar moves. then stated she's the only one with different moves. there's a reason the complaints section is 3x longer. he just wanted to make shit up. couldn't even avoid contradicting himself.
He said Luna snow had the most personality of all the support characters, and that the other supports had similar or same-y attack feel. I agree. Luna and mantis basic attacks feel really similar, same with dagger. They have slightly varied stats, but they all have the same arm wave to shoot thing going on. Same with hela, now that I think about it. Loki and warlock do the staff thing. Rocket is probably the only one that isn't similar to the others. His healing feels flat, though. The game feel definitely needs some work.
@adeeshadeegala5900 loki and warlock do the staff thing proves my point. those two axt entirely differently. I guess overwatch needs work because reaper and tracer do the 2 gun thing. holy shit just keep making shit up.
"Rivals just doesn't have as much content as Overwatch" Yeah... it came out a week ago... Also, complaining that Rivals skins are recolors when Overwatch has been releasing almost exclusively recolors for the past year and a half is wild.
I personally am enjoying Marvel Rivals way more. It’s fresh and exciting. I feel rewarded for good plays. I love the art style and hero design. Also, I trust this game to pump out more content, as they don’t have to design anything from scratch.
That's a big point. Any new character they add won't feel forced. They have so much IP to pull from. It's the biggest dub that Marvel has had in the last few years honestly.
As a longterm OW player and many other hero-shooter, i already see alot similar issues creepying up. The game is fun dont get me wrong, but lets see how it is in a few months...
I know right, I saw only attackers team and no healers healers who never heals Tanks who never understand the role OP Hawk eye like OG Hanzo Health packs positions etc I’d stay in OW and still playing rivals For now my opinion for MR is “a good character game ”
@@エリエール-u1f A lot of these issues are literally unavoidable for a new game with a wide audience. If OW miraculously had a sudden resurgence in popularity that more than doubled it's player base, those same problems. The only one that wouldn't pop up is the all DPS comp because of Role Queue. Most, if not all of these issues are just people still learning the game. As for Hawkeye, he's still not as fury-inducing as a Hanzo that could take your head off just by spamming at the choke.
I agree some things are popping up but I also think there’s many people that are very new and have never even tried a hero shooter before. There’s many newcomers that want to play their favorite hero instead of an IP they have no connection to. Definitely have to see where the next couple seasons go but so far promising
@エリエール-u1f thats in overwatch as well its why i stopped play atleast in rivals healing is fun other then overwatch so i could swap without getting bored
No, MR is just a nice option to play casually if you get tilted or bored of playing OW which I prefer gaphically, more memorable maps, mechanics and in general more polished. I'll still be playing OW2 mostly but I would like to see MR as a decent competitor to make OW better.
Nothing can beat OW when it comes to shooting fights. MR is pretty nice but damage and health are not adjusted well enough and that’s the toughest part of hero shooter games so let’s see how it goes.
TLDR: yes it is. Characters have more complexity and are genuinely more fun. The universe is massive and there’s endless characters for them to add. And hot take, this game doesn’t really need a role queue, but rather more fun and just MORE supports and vanguards. Right now the roster is mostly dualist. Once they even out the roster I do think that people will find a vanguard and strategist that they like to play. In old overwatch people use to play characters they liked rather than the role they liked. I missed that. People use to main dva, zen, reaper for example, rather than just maining tank. Absolutely love this game, and never coming back to Overwatch. The gameplay has a lot more skill expression and that’s what I’ve been looking for. Also.. comparing cosmetics is wild. Cuz ow u only see the gun 💀 u don’t even get to see the skin unless u emote
@@sillylittlesheepjax6009 team up abilities, no role queue opens up multiple team comp variations, endless amounts of characters to add, legit every character has more abilities than Overwatch ones, maps change and are destructible which can create different openings for different comps, and not to mention the characters by far are harder to play than Overwatch. Do I need to list more reasons?
Good points in the video. Especially the sound design and polish factor is something, I subconsciously noticed as well. That being said, Rivals just started and so far it's a massive fun-fiesta with some fresh wind to the hero shooter genre. Played 25 hours to this point and most of the time had a blast with it. Funny enough, as OW veteran (support mainly) you really get immediate flashbacks when team members just run off into the wild, crying for healing out of position, ignoring backlines and overall don't fight as a team at all. And then complain about everybody but themselves at the end. The similarities are so hilarious. xD Regarding the future, I also hope rivals won't take itself too serious and goes full power mode on the "fun, wacky and casual" route for this game. It feels kinda right for it and would really stand out against titles like OW. If it does, it has potential to become my second staple game besides OW. Well, overall I will still say, let's wait and see. I think in around 6 months, after the honeymoon phase wears off and the route for this game becomes more clear, we can come to a first, real conclusion. Until then: Have fun with OW and Rivals guys. ^^
I FEEL LIKE A SUPERHERO. something I can’t say playing overwatch when I tried going back? Who feels more like air support infinite flight iron man. Or in the air for 10 seconds Pharah. All the characters are usable and it comes down to skill. I feel just as powerful as I imagined the characters. Played OW and after the considerable queue time the gameplay just seems so lack luster and boring compared to Rivals.
I really enjoyed to hear that it’s not as aim intensive as Overwatch. As flashy as it is to kill squishes in this Overwatch, it’s not really fun to try to hit some of the especially skinny characters…paired with having no strafe penalties. it’s why people gravitate to Winston/Rein/Moira because it’s more fun to enjoy the positional/hero interaction game instead of the mechanical aspects.
Weird, because I’ve felt like aim is much more important in this game than OW. OW I can just play Wrecking Ball, Reaper or Moira. In this game, even Magik needs to land her skill shot with the dash and, if you don’t, you’re cooked.
Before I watch the full video. My fear with learning Rivals, is that it’s fundamentally as annoying and tilting as Overwatch. The grass is always greener.
no one talks about how rivals has the same mechanics that everyone hates about overwatch. lots of healing, immo, CC, albeit not as much/as bad imo. and for those who don't like mobility creep, rivals is on steroids. still super fun to me though
Iron fist, jeff, spiderman well a good spiderman might tilt..But for me it doesn't linger like it does in OW..Widowmaker kills me I feel like stabbing someone..I get furious because that b is broken..But a iron fist, spiderman I feel like I will kill them..I don't feel helpless
@@austinmcmahan6267there’s like not even half the amount of cc in rivals though, the only noticeable criticism is that the healing is too much on some hero’s. Which is a stat change and not even that big of an issue if you can dive well.
If I had a quarter every time someone said "This game will be the end for Overwatch" I'll have over a dollar. Which is strange, considering Overwatch is still alive.
If this game came out while overwatch was in its prime then overwatch would be better. But today overwatch is a sunken ship and the remaining player base are trying desperately to bucket out the water while the ship is already on the bottom of the ocean. This game is a breath of fresh air for this type of gameplay. It’s fun, competitive and visually pleasing (black widows ass). Rival’s definitely has a lot of potential to grow. I think it is so much better than overwatch and I believe it has a lot of promise to surpass overwatch with a little bit of time
It’s good for healthy competition hopefully but it’s good at least in my opinion. That game can never take me away from Overwatch especially how it plays.
@@Experion121instead it’s people saying “it’s an overwatch killer!” Which is just absolutely cringe… it’s like games can’t coexist or that something must kill an almost 10 year old game. This new game can potentially make Blizzard and Microsoft give a game damn for this dead IP a chance to improve
This is probably an unpopular opinion, but as someone who just started playing Overwatch and obviously Marvel Rivals, I much enjoy Overwatch more. Maybe I would jump onboard the bandwagon as an OW hater like everyone else if I had been playing the game since OW1, but as a newcomer to both, Marvel Rivals feels significantly less polished and not as satisfying for me. However I get that Marvel Rivals just came out so it will get fine tuned and polished with years to come and I really hope to enjoy it more as I become more familiar with it. Competition is always healthy so I’m rooting for both games.
I’d bet you think Overwatch is more polished because it’s first person. If you haven’t played 3rd person shooter games before it’ll feel weird at first but once you get used to it you’ll realize its not actually less polished. Also Ow is a lot simpler when it comes to the graphics, which is why it can run on the switch and rivals cant lol.
@@IronOathFitness Yeah I’m not sure if it’s because OW is in first person, but the impacts just feel more satisfying to me where as in Marvel Rivals I don’t really feel the impact as much when I’m hitting enemies. Maybe it’s the sound effects or just the view perspective, I’m not sure. But I still need to play more of it, maybe it’ll grow on me.
@@bakad5458 You may be right. Could just be the difference between first and third person perspective. That was the first thing I thought of. Part of the reason is most third person games I’ve played are single player games (God of War, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Spiderman, etc….) but obviously you can’t compare or expect those sort of animations in an online PvP game but perhaps that’s why it’s jarring to me.
@@-Stinky_Pinky 3rd person pvp games definitely feel different than single player games, because in single player 3rd person games the camera is usually automatically focused on the target, to make it feel smoother, but in pvp games you have to constantly move the camera and theres no “target” if that makes sense which is why it might feel clunky to some, especially those who dont usually play 3rd person pvp games.
In response to the last minute of this video: yes, please make more content for BOTH games. I dont understand why the gaming community seems to feel like one has to be better than the other. Both are fun, both are different. I love Rivals precisely BECAUSE I love Overwatch. I've played both since Day 1 and will likely continue to do so for the next 8 years.
Hard disagree about "nobody wants roles" roles make Overwatch playable. We see in Rivals, that even if the Strategists and Vanguard are actually quite capable in combat, it doesn't matter because most people will refuse to even scrape the possibility of having to do something other than waste time trying to kill the tank. So roles are functionally required for games to be fair to players without a premade.
Also no roles creates the original problem I hated in Overwatch: people will instalock on DPS. I played a game today where no one switched to Vanguard the whole match even though we were losing for 5 minutes. I understand nothing was stopping me from switching but I wanted to do the experiment and see if anyone else would do it. No one did, and one even switched to Strategist from Duelist. People will never make the decision to improve the comp even when it means losing the game.
No server crashes, just a dozen game freezes. That freezes my whole computer making me have to restart the game. I have a fairly decent computer too(I’ve edited 4k 60p video for a client before, so it runs okay). Also, I went into comp playing Penny and found a bug that made me stuck to my own web. Could not release myself from the web for some reason. Crying and laughing ant finally release when I died (and the opponent got the first point).
I’ll add, Marvels biggest benefits to OW are 1) inevitable return to 6v6, 2) better monetization, and 3) play-testing new character abilities to allow OW to use.
I would defiantly love for you to cover this game along site Over Watch. How do we feel about the environment being able to be destroyed? I feel like it adds to clutter on the screen and doesn't really add to the game play.
@@YourOverwatchThat's actually one of my complaints. I don't mind The environment being destroyable but the fact that it rebuilds randomly has both killed me before and saved opponents which is kind of a feels bad thing imo.
@@kevinsayers5985 it rebuilds only in the map Yggsgard because of how Loki's power influence that place (it's in the lore of rivals) and other maps doesn't rebuild the buildings itself.
I actually think the breakable environment adds to the gameplay. You can sometimes break the ledges people are standing on or open lines of sight. I am interested to hear what tournament participants end up saying about it.
it feels like it has 5 maps... the design of the balancing makes it feel like it's just for some quick casual play it's too all over the place to form any team based competitive gameplay at least that anyone can take serious to care about their rank in.
Played about 15 hours of rivals so far. Imma be real once the initial fun of learning the game they are gonna have a lot of work to do lol. Overwatch got nothing to worry about, but competition is good
true. balance is all over the place. healing is so busted that u can run 3 good healers and just face roll everything, there is so much spam going on that it will be very bad esport game imo
Overwatch has nothing to worry about 😂😂 losing players by the day Better check that player count it's about to dip below 10k while rivals is well over 200k
Can understand the team up mechanics argument but not having role queue makes competitive nearly unplayable. Having 5 DPS while I play tank with no healers, makes games not winnable.
Marvel rivals is different from overwatch enough to make me play it without making me feel like i’m playing a cheap cashgrab copy. Now, i play overwatch when i feel like it and i play Marvel rivals when i feel like it. This “which is better” is just nonsense. Everyone should try both as both of them are free and play what they want.
I respect your POV. Would love more videos on Marvel Rivals from you. But it would be crazy weird to see Marvel Rivals videos over and over on a channel with your name. Thoughts on a second channel?
Three things that I don't like about Marvel Rivals. 1 I don't like the art style 2 I don't care for Marvel's universe so I have no connection to the characters 3 I find the chaos of it makes it really hard to know where I'm getting shot from and by who.
Funny, I said the same thing to my wife the other night. Alot of the characters feel "Same-y".. I've been playing Luna, Mantis, Storm.. and I swear shooting with them all feels very similar... Overwatch really digs into the uniqueness of each character and dives into a weapon archetype, making each hero FEEL so unique. The voice lines, emotes, animations, shooting, abilities are all very polished and "branded" to that hero. I'm enjoying Marvel Rivals though, but nothing quite touches that OW art aesthetic, polish and feel for me personally. My biggest hope is that any competition that OW faces only pushes it to innovate and improve. Otherwise, I'm grateful to be able to play MR when I feel like a change.
I mean, this game is carried by its characters (obviously) and amazing art style. But really, it suffers from many of the original OW problems-if not more. Just give people time to realize it lol
Regarding your argument about the character arts and sound identity, it doesn’t seem like you played the game much to give your argument legs to stand on. You can easily recognize every character in MR from their silhouette, attack sounds, projectile size, etc. every issue you claim MR has, OW has it worse(ow has skin recolor for every hero released and they sold multiple legendary recolored skins). Both games can exist together, and competition is healthy for both games and the consumers. Also, Don't let this distract you from the fact that bungee gum has the properties of rubber and gum
It is in fact not in my opinion, as someone who has played Ow since beta back in 2015. The only game that can kill Ow is Ow itself. Rivals is good for the competition though.
That nitpicky thing about the "same-y" feeling of the characters is on point though. The designs of the characters are great, but it feels really weird how, for example, Luna Snow and Dagger shoot exactly the same.
That's like saying hitscans are all same-y. And the game has many projectile characters. Your example of Luna and Dagger, one shoots straight ice bolts and one shoots light bolts that also soft lock on targets and can be bounced across walls to heal and attack from cover. Yes melee is basically all the same but different in application use for all melee chars. Can't dive with Wolverine like you would Black Panther and both are melee dive DPS.
Dagger = shoots a single shard that bounces and auto locks, cant hit headshots. Luna = shoots a 3 round burst that can also headshot. Yeah they're exactly the same tbf
I do NOT think that Marvel Rivals is better than Overwatch in really any way. But, OW is one of my favorite games of all-time, even though they’ve lost a lot of my trust. With that said, Marvel Rivals is DAMN FUN. It’s got a ton of potential as well.
I played overwatch 2 and it was okay never played much but was fun with friends once and awhile but Rivals is actually fun. The abilities and art style are amazing compared to overwatch, I can see my skins, I have cool characters I love already and new ones I’ve never really knew of yet that I now like, and when I first played I was hooked instantly after thinking it was gonna just be an overwatch clone and be boring
It's refreshing to move freely in a hero shooter instead of hiding behind a wall, waiting for a teammate to got 1-shot, regrouping, and then hoping you can do something next try.
I think the animations are pretty good but i agree sound design could use some work. In overwatch you can really hear what is going on. You can tell which hero is where just by there foot steps. You know theres a junk rat on the enemy team just from the sound of his grenade launcher. You can hear enemy abilities like a hog hook or sleep dart so you know when to push. Maybe im just getting used to rivals and have to learns to pick out the sounds, but everything except ultimates just sounds like moosh.
I don't feel like these games feel the same. Overwatch place much more smoothly. Every character in Rivals just about feels like they have too many moves, so you need to practice to get good and a lot of the characters die constantly because you panic mid gameplay, not knowing what move to do.
Quick comments about this: 1. Positive in general: MR has its own identity, clearly casual, silly, and arcade-ish, which is fine. I do not understand many people who want to compare this game with OW2 (a competitive hero shooter); and worst, saying MR is going to kill OW2 lol. MR feels "unique" and that's good. I see a good "future" for this game: they have an already made universe and a big corp marketing machine there. 2. Two negative points: I am disappointing about Tank and Support hero design... - Holy god, the hero design in the tank is awful. I played Doomfist, JQ, and Winston mainly in OW2, and it is not even close. I have zero empathy and fun playing tanks in MR. They feel super clunky, with super long CDs (Mr. Strange with the portal... wtf is 160 seconds????? Why????!?), super tankier, and weird dynamics. The "funnier" tank is Venom but it is just an oversimplification of Ball. You do not need a lot of hours to play it, which could be boring (for me). Hulk is just super clunky, Mr Strange is just the worst version of Magneto... etc. - Supports are kinda mid and my experience is super similar with tanks. I have zero empathy or love, curiosity, or just excitement to play any of them. Luna Snow, Mantis, and Loki are interesting but that's it. Nothing "special". After playing Ana, Kiri, and Juno in OW2 I see a huge gap compared to MR. "DPS" has the most cool heroes. The unbalance in MR is not just having a bunch of DPS, but also there is a gap in the hero design quality among roles... I am sure that everyone has their favorite hero in the DPS cast, besides whether you are a "damage" player or not. I mean, Hawk Eye (a good alternative version of Hanzo), Winter Solider (Top tier example of how to rethink and improve everything about an existing hero like Cassidy), and Psylocke (A cool hybrid mix of different OW2 heroes concepts like Genji, Sombra) are super cooooool heroes but when you see tank or supports.... holy gap. I know that people want role lock because you have unbalanced compositions but I´d say one of the main reasons why people do not play other roles than DPS is because of bad hero designs. This is my biggest issue with the game. MR is super fun. I am a hardcore competitive player so I am not switching to it. I love OW2 and all I play is competitive, trying to get better on my main (Tracer). OW2 has problems but man, it is super fluid, it gives me a good competitive environment and has the heroes that I love (Tracer, Genji, Doom, JQ, Kiri, Ana, etc). However, I see myself playing MR 1 or 2 times per week, just for chilling :) I hope MR has a good future because players win with more competition (and of course, I want to see OW2 growing and making improvements because of that).
I see what you mean, tank role could use a bit of spice. And I do feel like some damage hero’s would work as tanks and supp. Like wolverine as a tank. But I think the hero’s feel a bit more rigid in the ability area with OW. For example. I like Thor in Mr feels really flexible compared to ow tanks, but that’s just one example lol. Hulk desperately needs a redesign imo though. Anyway pointless comment summed up MR makes me feel powerful, ow I kinda feel hand cuffed. I still like both. Stay blessed!
16:25 I could see why you would say ow feels more immersive(being in first person and even being able to watch your character reload their weapon ex: Lucio) but rivals has more movement and weapons
@PlayOverwatch Nah you're 100% right about your nitpick, the characters dont feel distinct from one another, i feel like this is crucialfor the game. Overwatch does this sooo much better and its crazy since that game is in first person. I also noticed that objectives dont feel as obvious for some players, unlike Overwatch where the music gets intense and the ui and sound design makes the objective super clear for everyone.
Is it better than Overwatch? No, not for me personally. Is it a great game that's fun to play? Absolutely. Will it give Overwatch some serious competition finally and hopefully get Team 4 to step up their game and make much needed improvements the community has been begging for? No doubt. Do both games have a bright future ahead of them? Yes, I honestly think they do. The golden age of Hero Shooters is very much ahead of us, not behind us. I can't wait to see where this all goes, and I will be playing both games a lot ☺💖
Right, like while I'm playing a tank, i get blasted, and I'm just like, when and what even hit me, I was fighting a punisher he poped his ult, and I fully expect me to lose the fight, but I also expect me as a tank to be able to do some kinda counter play or at the very least live longer, but no I died in like 1.5 seconds
@Flamepunk exactly 😂. Especially when Hawkeye can take away 90$ of your health bar with a charged body shot and such. I learned if you take one projectile to the head, you're basically dead
I think they both have strengths!! I hope this pushes both games to be better!! The freshfeeling of playing a new character for the first time is wonderful. It's not perfect at launch, but I haven't had fun like this in a while!!
Finally someone with a honest review. Rivals needs a LOT of work. It’s not fun right now because the voice chat doesn’t work, switching heroes is clunky on controller, balance has been thrown out the window then stomped on then punted across the universe.. balance is absolutely AWFUL in this game. Combine that with people just randomly running around trying to kill the entire enemy team by themselves? Not for me.
Ive always been a massive fan of overwatch, Ive played it though out its 2 years content drought. this game feels so good and I encourage every to try it out.
Am I the only one who thinks Overwatch 2 is better? By far? Its mechanics are more polished, it's a first-person game which gives a much better experience, and in general all the maps and visuals in Marvel Rivals feel like a copy. I think it's a shame for Marvel to so blatantly copy the elements of a successful game (which I still play to this day by the way). I'm not saying Marvel Rivals is a bad game. I'm just saying it's good, because we've already played it.... in Overwatch 2...... My opinion.
Overwatch is the more polished game to be sure. Sounds design especially, Rivals feels well behind in many intuatuve touches. And I have many many hours in Overwatch, it was a big part of my gaming history, probably the most definitive game I've played since Halo 3. But at least right now, I'm booting Rivals and having more fun than I've had in Overwatch in a good few years
Give me one example of marvel rivals copying overwatch, their in the same genre it’s gonna have SOME similarities. Overwatch came out 8 years ago where it was first a paid game and is now on its second game, so I’d hope it’s more polished bare minimum.
Holy crap, the global projectile changes wtf is the balance team at OW2 doing?? Why do they just make changes for the sake of changing things?? They really need to be fired. plain and simple.
I think it captures something that was lost in Overwatch which took itself way too seriously. Marvel Rivals is more chaotic and allows players to just have fun while still being tactical. Hopefully they don’t sacrifice that to please the sweats. It’s out of that chaos that actually breeds a good competitive game and minimizes toxicity.
OW2 is buns. You have to pay to keep up with characters and its super restrictive with how you play. Rivals gives you more freedom and you get all the characters from the jump.
Hmm your take on rivals felt more negative than I think I thought it would be, and some of your nitpicks I feel the exact same way but towards overwatch. Game just released and a lot of what you complained about will be fixed /improved on. Destructible stages..I can see how it can “feel” casual but will you say that when a widow creates an opening in the wall to get creative shots and help the team? Some of your views kinda just sound like your own projecting limited views on gameplay. But maybe I’m wrong. Just what I picked up from listening.
Wow, used to watch your vids every morning almost a decade ago. Crazy to hear that same music on the intro and interested to hear your take on this as it's giving me that same itch I had keeping up with overwatch back then. Lol crazy nostalgia here!
I do agree about the... "distinctness" of the characters. I wish Mantis was more timid, I wish wolverine was more animalistic. Many of the attack animations look similar which in turn makes the overall characters look similar. Thor and Hulk do the same thing except Thor has a hammer. Luna, Storm, Iron Fist, Jeff and others do a good job of it, but hopefully down the line as they make more money, they can fix this.
Idk man, my monkey brain can't process every hero's ability, and there's a ton of them. If I'm a new player, I'd pick OW since the heroes are easier to understand.
Nah I understand you completely. OW is easy to pick up almost right away. however if you stick with marvel rivals for a good couple of hours you'll slowly get the hang of it. Just stick to easy heros like squirrel girl, iron fist, and jeff, and observe you teams heroes and enemy heroes. Also, if you feel like trying out a new hero, always press the F1 key (idk for console tho) to give you a summary of the hero's abilities
If I'm a new player, I'm picking Marvel cuz I know the characters. A new player wouldn't even know anything about how complex things get for either game they're new. There's also Punisher, your COD 76 stand in
Idk man my monkey brain can’t process every hero’s ability, and there’s a ton of them. If I’m a new player I’d pick marvel rivals since the heroes are easier to understand.
I would have to disagree on characters feeling same-y. I’m level 28 currently and feel like I still keep learning new techs or strats as an individual player not just as a team.
Somebody asked me last night if this was going to kill Overwatch. Saying Rivals will kill Overwatch is like saying Wolverine died by a tree while ignoring the adamantium poisoning that had been occurring for years. Overwatch died because instead of expanding on the story and lore it became a shallow competitive arena left to be overshadowed by the next thing that came along. This is going to kill overwatch. Blizzard disrespected us by cancelling the single player stuff. Charging us $20 for lazy recolors. Removing mythic weapons from mythic SKINS. Perma banning fans that PAID for skins while not offering a refund. Yeah. It's dead.
After trying this game I realized OW has a huge problem. In OW you cannot easily deploy your kit, in most cases it's really hard to get your abilities to do what they're suppose to do, everything is constrained within narrow parameters, very frustrating. In rivals, you don't feel that.

Seriously dude 😂
You can also select servers on other time zones!
“Keep the game fun and wacky don’t balance the fun out of this game” YES PLEASE. Listen to this man!

Most, if not all of these issues are just people still learning the game. As for Hawkeye, he's still not as fury-inducing as a Hanzo that could take your head off just by spamming at the choke.

Once they even out the roster I do think that people will find a vanguard and strategist that they like to play. The similarities are so hilarious. xD
Regarding the future, I also hope rivals won't take itself too serious and goes full power mode on the "fun, wacky and casual" route for this game.
Short answer, Yes.
Long Answer...
Also yes.
Rivals already dead. Just another husk of a game that will br empty in a matter of months. Mark my words.

Well said. Blizzard does know how to polish. The UI, sound, animations, etc are better in ow2
@@IronOathFitness Yeah I’m not sure if it’s because OW is in first person, but the impacts just feel more satisfying to me where as in Marvel Rivals I don’t really feel the impact as much when I’m hitting enemies.

This game at least needs Min 1 of each role so you don't get stuck without a Tank or without a Support.

@@RafiYagamiSadly, those are issues with the base line UE5.

I respect your POV. Would love more videos on Marvel Rivals from you. But it would be crazy weird to see Marvel Rivals videos over and over on a channel with your name. Thoughts on a second channel?
Three things that I don't like about Marvel Rivals.
1 I don't like the art style
2 I don't care for Marvel's universe so I have no connection to the characters
3 I find the chaos of it makes it really hard to know where I'm getting shot from and by who.
Otherwise, I'm grateful to be able to play MR when I feel like a change.
i played 3 people with similar style attacks and OH MY GOD they all felt the SAME!
@KrazieeGG but they shouldn't
I mean, this game is carried by its characters (obviously) and amazing art style. But really, it suffers from many of the original OW problems-if not more. Just give people time to realize it lol
Leaving a comment to help the video. I would love to see more rivals content from you
Yo we don’t need a 20 min video, the answer is objectively yes 😅
This comment is hilarious, did you only play 5 minutes of the game? Dagger auto locks daggers that can't miss 😂

I tried rivals, felt nauseous.. Next day fixed my sensitivity and am convinced it's better than OW
I don't feel like these games feel the same. Overwatch place much more smoothly. Every character in Rivals just about feels like they have too many moves, so you need to practice to get good and a lot of the characters die constantly because you panic mid gameplay, not knowing what move to do.
Everyone did that in Overwatch at the beginning too.
It’s all practice 🫰
Personally, I enjoy OW more than Rivals, but it is nice to have some competition in the space.
Quick comments about this:
I would LOVE for you to cover both OW and MR
This overwatch no fam difference.. how ppl are not seeing this is beyond me
@PlayOverwatch Nah you're 100% right about your nitpick, the characters dont feel distinct from one another, i feel like this is crucialfor the game. Overwatch does this sooo much better and its crazy since that game is in first person. I also noticed that objectives dont feel as obvious for some players, unlike Overwatch where the music gets intense and the ui and sound design makes the objective super clear for everyone.
The stopping point of the “cart” in rivals is not clear at all. It’s very annoying.
Paid bot comment
Bro its OVER for OV. They failed and lied too much. Rivals is the new big boy.
Bro said mantis and cloak feel the same ur cooked
Its either a bot or skaven on a lot of warp crack. One of those two, if not combination.
Honestly, the time to kill in this game is very fast, ngl. You can peak a corner and get destroyed before you can react sometimes 😂
Not for me.
Chat works for me 🤷🏻♂️
Ive always been a massive fan of overwatch, Ive played it though out its 2 years content drought. this game feels so good and I encourage every to try it out.
Saying overwatch characters feel different but this games feel the same is absolutely an insane take like omg 😭 blizzard fanboys in 2024 is just crazy
Rivals is leaps and bounds better than overwatch.
My opinion.
Interesting
Yes i think you might be the only one.
Nope, it's better by every metric that you can use to objectively compare. Other than: OvErWaTcH bAd. oVeRwAtCh HuRt My FeElInGs!
Marvel Rivals: Hey, let me copy your homework.
Overwatch 2: Uh...okay? Here.
Marvel Rivals: ....nevermind, you copy mine.
Bro 😂
The skins, character identity, the difference in gameplay, and purpose are all the biggest issues for me in this game that made Overwatch so special.
9:37 What did you mean by this??
Exactly what you think
I think it captures something that was lost in Overwatch which took itself way too seriously. Marvel Rivals is more chaotic and allows players to just have fun while still being tactical. Hopefully they don’t sacrifice that to please the sweats. It’s out of that chaos that actually breeds a good competitive game and minimizes toxicity.
Tired of people who can’t play the game without talking shit about OW2
OW2 is buns. You have to pay to keep up with characters and its super restrictive with how you play. Rivals gives you more freedom and you get all the characters from the jump.
@@sebastianfernandez6146bro just making stuff up lol
@@sebastianfernandez6146The new heroes have been free since March.
@@sebastianfernandez6146 the game is literally free and you get everything except cosmetics
To be fair, OW has a ton of skins that are the same but in a different colors. Even legendary ones...
Most of their skins are this
Hmm your take on rivals felt more negative than I think I thought it would be, and some of your nitpicks I feel the exact same way but towards overwatch.
Rivals is better than overwatch in every. single. way.
Insane reach, Rivals got a long way to go. Comp is garbage too
@ garbage is 10x better than overwatch
@@ericdirauso2465 Crazy reach ts just dropped
I do agree about the... "distinctness" of the characters. I wish Mantis was more timid, I wish wolverine was more animalistic. Many of the attack animations look similar which in turn makes the overall characters look similar. Thor and Hulk do the same thing except Thor has a hammer. Luna, Storm, Iron Fist, Jeff and others do a good job of it, but hopefully down the line as they make more money, they can fix this.
Idk man, my monkey brain can't process every hero's ability, and there's a ton of them. If I'm a new player, I'd pick OW since the heroes are easier to understand.
People like u is why we got brig
There's also Punisher, your COD 76 stand in
😂😂😂
Idk man my monkey brain can’t process every hero’s ability, and there’s a ton of them. If I’m a new player I’d pick marvel rivals since the heroes are easier to understand.
I would have to disagree on characters feeling same-y. I’m level 28 currently and feel like I still keep learning new techs or strats as an individual player not just as a team.
This game looking like a team death match...
It's only a matter of time before they shut the doors forever.
