My son needs this or so the dr says he does, he is not ventilator dependent and is breathing on his own but needs just a little help for him to thrive and grow. Is this the right choice??
I’m a paeds nurse and cleaning it like that with the ties attached is a bit pointless as the old ties just retouch the skin after you’ve finished ‘cleaning’. Also bare below the elbows maximises infection control. Also was there consent from the parent to record this? And yeah she could’ve been a bit more reassuring to the child.
Sometimes babies are born with internal deformities like cleft palet which doesn't make it safe for them to use their mouths to breathe. Until it can be corrected they need tracheostomy to survive.
There are a million and one reasons why babies need trachs. This is just a short instructional video to show people how a trach is changed. That is all.
She’s not in pain. She’s not pleased with the process, most babies and young children will scream over having their face wiped, much less having a trach change, but she’s not in pain. They also suctioned for phlegm during the video, so there’s no issue with that.
Atleast try to divert her mind..The person who is making video or any other person can make different faces or the can sing and can do mor ethings to divert her mind 😞 next time plz try to divert her attention can't see her in pain like this 🥺
She’s not in pain - she’s in no more discomfort than a baby that doesn’t want her diaper changed. She doesn’t appreciate being restrained at the moment, it may not be her idea of what she wants to be doing, but that is of very little importance when it comes to her health. She’s being expertly cared for, quickly and efficiently.
@@aishahowasis8484 can you imagine how scary that is not to be able to breathe that's what dy!ng people experience!!!!! Like seriously go faster & get the baby some air!
In an ideal world, yes. Changing the trach and keeping it clean is so important. Sometimes, it is more important to change the trach than wait for the baby to stop crying. She may just be upset being in that position. The nurse did a good job. It's not fun for the baby, but her trach needs to be cared for. But yes, it's hard to see the baby girls upset.
😢 Yes, my Dad who is a registered Pediatric Nurse said it is easier to take care of babies who have a Trach because they can't make noise, but hey at least they are still alive and it's kinda cute but also sad
This is so hard to watch as doctors are thinking my baby may need a trach and they keep telling me it’s a positive thing. I don’t see this as positive this is so sad to see.
It’s definitely positive to have a breathing baby over a not-breathing baby. Unfortunate situation, but definitely positive considering the alternative.
They’re not hurting her, they’re helping her. She’s just frustrated because it’s a bothersome process - much like blowing a kid’s nose or wiping food off their face. They don’t like it. No pain involved whatsoever.
@@338888 why would you need more than 10? Also how we are trained, you aren't allowed to suction more than 3 times on the same occasion. So that would be 3 changes.
Beautiful! Thank you

if you plugged the trach hole could you hear the screams then?
Yes
Yes, but it would still not sound like a normal cry and wouldn't be quite as powerful.
Depends on the diagnosis. But some people with trachs use a special valve they can put on to talk.
Trach change should be done with 2 people
This is horrible to watch. They should be singing to her😭
I would have done this different. Sing or something.
This is rough. This poor little baby. Some comforting would be expected.
What happened to her? Why does she need this?
There are a million and one reasons why babies need trachs. This is just a short instructional video to show people how a trach is changed. That is all.
😔
That is 2 people job , is not safe for just one nurse . SAFETY FIRST
Who do you think was recording the video?
Nope, you can do it alone.
True, but one can also perform this safely. In a realistic setting, the mom may be alone. So one would need to learn how to do it solo.

The baby just needs the extra mucus cleared from her trach she’s not crying more like she can’t breath cause it basically takes away there breath

The plastic bag noise you can hear through out the video is the mucus that builds up
What is wrong with that baby😢?
This person should be instead of narrating the steps she should be giving reassurance words to the baby.

No I know why nurses get payed so much
You should never re insert the same suction tube. Needs to be changed after each suction.
So you need more than 10 in each setting? Wrong... You can use same one for 1 suction session as long as you practice correct technique.
