This is probably one of the best things you can do for their developement. Way better than just sticking them infront of the tv or a toy all day. Ofcourse get your kids toys, but remember, your kid may only take to 2 or 3, so don't feel like you have to buy the entire toy store to make your kid happy. Get them outside and explore together.

Doesn't it look really pretty?" They still heard me and looked up and got big smiles to see my nephew nodding while looking at them.

This idea is cute. I remember when a 50 meter walk would take 20 minutes, because the little one would stop to look at everything. I didn't always have the time for it, but sometimes I made time for those discovery walks, time with no agenda. Sometimes we only made it to the neighbors house. Now, 9 years later, we go on day long hikes and climb mountains together. But the most amazing thing is how this young person (now there are two young people, actually) sees beauty everywhere, and marvels at it all. How both of them are filled with curiosity and questions and an awareness of their surroundings that is in itself a thing of beauty. And they still stop to study something, or collect a bit of lichen, or pick up interesting stones. And suddenly I'm glad that we took the time to slow down and appreciate all the little bits of the world around us, because we still know how.
Man. This made me realize just how grateful I am for the summer camps and whatnot I attended as a kid that made me notice all the little things in nature. I keep telling people I wanna go hiking but I don’t really mean hiking. I mean wandering aimlessly along some trails while looking at cool rocks and bugs and plants 😅

As a teenager who still remembers the childhood, I would get curious at everything as a toddler, if you showed me a piece of paper with an ant on it, that would make me entertained for hours, and my friends too, so I can assure you that toddlers are easy to get entertained

They were always going full force ahead. 😭 😭 😂 And apparently I'm a slow learner because although I had a sling with my first, it wasn't great and only worked well during infancy, but by the third I had finally gotten two soft structured carriers (up to 45 lb weight limit) that made a big difference!
