Thank you for literally walking us through the station. My siblings and I are due to arrive next Friday and have never taken a train. Your video has greatly eased my anxiety, especially since we'll be heading to Ueno first. I really appreciate your clear and concise instructions, thank you! ♥️
Thank you for this informative video! I noticed that the video has a lot of Kenty Skyliner XD I am an big fan of Kenty, and I hope I can ride the Kenty Skyliner when I go to Tokyo soon
The video was very informative and well-produced. I especially liked the fact that the host showed the difference between the different train options. I think this would be very helpful for first-time visitors to Tokyo. What is your favorite thing to do in Tokyo?
The Skyliner has been more convenient for me than the Skyliner since my preferred place to stay in Tokyo is in Asakusa. It was no big deal for me to go from Tawaramachi a couple stops over to Ueno and to the train.
hi, it's an airport train so it has space. it just doesn't have a dedicated space for large luggages. people just keep their luggages with them while they stand or sit on the train. you can have up to 2 big luggages (i think around 250cm or so).
Thank you for the very clear, concise and informative video. I want to ask if I want to take the Shinkansen train to Nagano, which stop should I take to switch to JR Line?
Super video. Thank you very much. One question: on vending machine - reservation of the seats are provided together with buying the tickets or after that? 😊 Jan
Thank you for creating this great video.. It’s very simple and easy to understand about the Skyliner especially for the first timer traveller to Japan like me.. One question I’d like to make sure is what sleepabout the maximum size of suitcase that can be brought inside the Skyliner? My suitcase is large size, 32inch, is it possible to bring it on the train?
Thank you so much for watching!🙏 yes you can bring it on the train. there's a space to store it. if you're early, you can leave your suitcase there. if not, you can just keep it at your seat.
I was actually confused by this the last time when I got to Nippori. I didn't realize when I got off, it was where I should have bought my ticket for the JR line. I just put in the Skyliner ticket I bought at Narita into the gate and it let me in, but there was no place for me to buy a ticket at that point. I ended taking the train to Shinjuku and explaining to the attendant at the gate that I didn't have a ticket from Nippori and they just charged me that fare amount to let me out of the station.
the Skyliner is at platform number 1. but there are 2 trains using the same platform. so you need to see the train design, and the departure time on your ticket to make sure you get on the right train.
The best video which describes what I want to know! 🎉Only other question I have is if there's a limit on number of luggages you can bring in and size of luggage allowed ☺️

Thank you so much for watching!🙏 you can use an IC card to pay for the passenger ticket of the Skyliner, but you still need to buy the Liner ticket in order to get on the Skyliner. (because the Skyliner requires passenger ticket + liner ticket) I think the video at 5:11 can help explain better.
Hello, this may be a stupid question, but in the case we get the tickets without IC card, do we insert the two tickets (passenger ticket+liner ticket) at the same time, or one after the other, or one pick up then next and pick up? 😅
hi, if you buy a ticket without using ic card at all, the 2 tickets (passenger + liner) will be combined into one. so you'll have only 1 ticket in your hand^^
Great job! How does this work if you ordered online and have your Suica on your iPhone? Leaving from the airport to your hotel no stress however going to the airport where you need to catch your airplane is a different circus, amirite?
@@ONEGOODDREAM Thank you very much for your response. Now I have another question, how do I go through the ticket gates if I don't have an IC Card? I would be very grateful for your answer again.
no problem! if you buy a ticket (no IC card), your ticket should be 2570yen (see 6:49). then you just insert the ticket at the ticket gate and get in 7:33. remember to get your ticket back at the ticket gate when you get in, because you will need it to insert at the ticket gate when you get out. when you get out, the gate will keep the ticket.
Yes, for this particular train you do. You buy a specific 'Liner' ticket (1300yen) and put that in the ticket gate machine, and scan your Suica at the same time (and it will be charged 1257yen). The Suica is for the general passenger charge and the 'Liner' ticket is a separate charge.
@@ChuckieMcHaggis and when i arrive at Ueno station i have to exit through the ticket gate machine again, do i put the liner ticket and suica again when i leave the railway platform? does the liner ticket than stay in the ticket machine and i can switch to JR lines with my IC Card? Or how does the exiting work from skyliner?
Great Video! Very informative and nicely explained for a first time visitor like me. When I have both passenger ticket and Liner ticket, which one needs to be put first in the slot of the platform gate? when I use the machine to buy 3 adults tickets in a single transaction, can I select seats for each passenger? Which side of the train would you recommend for better view?
thank you so much! 🙏 if you buy both passenger and liner ticket, they gonna be combined into 1 ticket, so no worries, just insert that ticket at the gate. the left side of the train is the same side with Tokyo Skytree, but the Skyliner machines don't let you choose seat from a seat map. you can only choose window/aisle seats.
