This is my favourite section of the game. We see in Jackson a community post outbreak that was able to regain a sense of normality and peace. Tommy and Maria run it well and there is a feeling of comradely that you feel while walking through the dam. Seeing Tommy for the first time since the prologue is also very cool. He’s like a calmer and less emotional and less traumatised version of Joel. He regrets the actions the two did to survive and he is trying his best to atone for his mistakes. For the first time in this game there is hope for Joel and Ellie. They have somewhere they can settle down and be happy in. However Ellie has become attached to Joel and when Joel leaves her to talk to Tommy her anxiety and abandonment issues kick in. When she finds out that Joel is going to leave her she panics and runs away. Ellie has lived her whole life without anyone who truly cared about her that survived except Joel. The two are emotionally linked. Joel has built a bond with Ellie but he tries his best to deny it. He doesn’t want to get close to Ellie in the fear that it will end the same way as what happened to Sarah. Joel wants to be a good father figure to Ellie but he also doesn’t want to be hurt again if Ellie dies. He keeps a wall between the two saying hurtful things to her in an attempt for her to just leave and let him live out the rest of his days in misery. Joel decides his priorities. He decides that Ellie’s happiness and safety is much more important than his childish need to not get close to people. He decides to rip the walls down and be the father that Ellie needs him to be. Joel’s not perfect but he’s trying. No more secrets or barriers between the two. They ride to the university in high spirits with a newfound sense of hope and optimism thinking that as long as their together nothing can stop them. Even though we know how this ends it is beautiful to just sit there and bask in the happiness and peace the ending of this section of the journey brings. I hope I was able to explain why I love this section so much.
I have played HUNDREDS of hours of TLOU & TLOU2, and I have never seen (until now) one of the protagonists drop a lethal HEAD BUTT 15:02 , or machete KIDNEY STAB 27:30 . Your gameplay continues to be spectacular. I have been following for well over a year now, and yet your gameplay STILL continues to surprise and impress.
This is prolly my favorite part of the game. I get water in my eyes every time. It was nice to just watch it instead of battle rigght after those intense cut scenes. I can't even pull myself together after those, I couldn't imagine doing it in real life.

Wonderful game. The story is set in a near but extremely bleak future, filled with cruelty, violence, death and people zombied by mushrooms. The picture paints colorful surreal landscapes of abandoned cities and emerald greenery, the apocalypse and new life blooming on its ruins. The game turned out to be a godsend among many mediocre projects. And although the storyline is straight as an arrow, this does not make the story itself worse.

I imagine he got a lot of time to think it over on the horse ride back. Tommy is so cool as well. He’s a lot more optimistic than Joel. However we get to see the happier side of Joel peeking through. His jokes with Tommy. This is a man that lost his daughter his girlfriend abandoned him leaving him to be a single father and his partner dies due to the infection. Joel grows to care for Ellie so much over this journey and this is the culmination of that.
