Really love the 777/555/333/111m idea for the second 1000m. These little 'games' are a good distraction from the body saying 'stop!'. Look forward to trying this on the next 2k, thanks!
Yeah!! Very good tips imn this video! Watched the video first and then set my PR, 6:37.9. The goals (3 digits, 777m, 555m, 333m and 111m) that you indicated have motivated me enormously!
Very good mate. I like how you keep it very simple. I feel a lot of people overcomplicate 2ks with pushes or overly fussy plans. I use different markers but my approach and internal chat is very similar. I'm sure this video will be very helpful for lots of people.
Thank you! It feels like for a lot of people I talk about 2ks, the issues are usually nothing to do with actual ability. The majority of the time it's to do with building up a 2k to be something harder than it is.
@@CameronBuchan it's 100% that. I always go into a 2k knowing what I'm physically capable of but the doubts are always about delivering on the day or how I will react to certain situations. That's where you need a big stack of proof to fall back on.
@@GrahamBenton that's what I find really interesting. Yes you need some proof to guide on pace but it's not a big deal. It's just another piece. You wouldn't say the same for say a 1 min on 1 min off workout or something like that. I know it's not that simple as that mentally but in reality it is
@@CameronBuchan yeah. We do harder sessions in training. It's all about the build up and the associated pressure. I know for a fact I can do what I want to do so why should it be a big deal. But it is
This is my next goal time! Have been the same speed for a few years (low 6:40s) and need to break that threshold. Adding weight training to increase base power. Thanks for the great content.
Afternoon Cameron 👍🏻 this video has given me great inspiration to get back on the Concept2. I attended the British Championships back in 2008 setting a PB of 6.37, but then children & family life took over & I haven't been on a rower until this year. So, now at the age of 49, I'll be at the BRIC in Birmingham in December in the 40-49 masters 2k race, throwing off some dust & rust. I've been able to train on a budget chain fan rower to get the cardio in, but I know it's not like a Concept2 in reality. To put it into perspective, I'm doing 20 minute workouts at spm 32-34 & getting on average around 8.4k, which means if you do the maths I'm doing a sub 5 2k, 4 times over back to back 😂😂😂😂 so something isn't calibrated right. Anyhows, thanks for the inspiration 👍🏻
See, now after these two recent 2K videos, you have lured me into deviating from my long distance winter training into the alternative pain cave that the 2K is - last effort was not brilliant (well, the wheels truly fell off and not on my C2🤪). Cheers Cam
Hi Cameron, for those who, like me, do not know English well and have difficulty understanding your verbal comments in the videos, it would be possible to have the suggestions you give during the tutorials put in writing, at least the essential instructions, especially for the indoor rowing 2k thanks
The speed generated by the the machine is how hard you push. Not how many strokes per minute. So most likely not pushing as hard per stroke. That doesn’t mean by you pushing harder you’ll be able to hit the same speed as you might just not be fit or strong enough yet
@CameronBuchan Comforted by the fact the current WRH is 6'4, my height. It's a hard slog pulling the time down. I started sub 7 drag 10, still sub 7 drag 8. When I say sub 7 it's late 6. Baffles my brain the elites have a lower drag, clearly it's a fault on my part
Nice watching Cam use 10% of his power for 6:40 :)

The mental game is as big as the physical game once you hit that 1k mark. Dig in, push on!
lol 6:40 was my PR as a lightweight at 18 and you just did it while talking😂
I love the comment at 333 "If you're feeling good, push now!" who the hell feels good with 300m left in a 2k?!? lol. Love this series!

I’ve been waiting for these videos for years, and they’re finally here! I now have an excuse to go sub 7 2k after taking over a year off
Good luck and enjoy!
This is a great series!! The play by play commentary is very helpful.
Thanks Simon! Hopefully will help a few people over time 💪

Thanks to your videos, I am back to rowing.
In 2 weeks there are Italian indoor championships, target 6:30😁💪
Thank you! Enjoy! Maybe can use next weeks video as motivation 👀
Nicely timed cam.
Thanks man .

Nice work. Good luck! Let us know how you get on 💪
Hit 6:41.8 on Saturday as you we’re competing in the Versa. Chipping away at 6:40! Congratulations on your results.
Love this! Can’t wait for a 6:20!?!
…pls… 😁
Totally agree!

Thanks for the kind words. I’m releasing an 8 week program for bric on Sunday for free if you’re needing any more inspiration!
@@CameronBuchan wow, thanks for the reply. Yes, any & all inspiration is needed & gladly excepted 👍🏻 I'll look out for that.
@@shropsiberian will definitely be on Instagram, just looking to see how it would work with RUclips 😊
@@CameronBuchan Ok, I'm not on Instagram so hopefully it'll appear here, but if not good luck with it & thank you for passing on your knowledge.
Youre genuinly inspiring me I do rowing on water and I would love for you to react to this comment!
Let's go!

Sounds like you had a good time!
You make it look so easy1

Good idea!
I did it last spring. Just according to Cams videos.
Hey Cam, do you reckon its realistic to go from a 6:55 to a mid 6:30s 2k within 6 months of training? Im 6ft 77kg if that matters. Love the videos.
It will be difficult but not impossible. At 77kg 6:30 is pretty quick
My target is 1:47.5
Nice work! Hopefully cover more times as I keep making the videos!
I almost finished my coffee in 6:40
Having a hard time catching this pace.
I maintain 32-35 m/s and kept up with the video.
But my avg 500 is like 2:15-2:25
Is my form that short lol?

@@CameronBuchan thanks! I'll pick up the tempo.
I did 6:56 last time so now my targest is 6:50
Nice one, hopefully the 650 row along helps!
What shoes are those? Looking for a good pair to erg in
It's maby powerlift ?
Just a pair of indoor football shoes. Nothing special just flat soles
Next vid sub 6:20
Not quite!
151 after one pull dont think so... has the chain been shortened
😂 Normal machine
This is my PB at 15 years old
you couldnt do that on my concept ll
If its an unalteted machine in sure I would
Bro why do u make the 1:40 easy
Because for me it is 50 seconds from a pb
Nice video! Most of us would appreciate sub 6:20 video. Please! Next week i have a competition, so i need emotional support. Thank you!❤❤❤
Thanks! There seems to be a pattern to what I'm posting so 620 wouldn't be the next one! 😂
How tall mate? Damper 6 or 7?
I am 6'9". As I said in the video, the drag factor in this video is 130 and for that machine meant a 5-6. Probably time for a clean!!
