- Hello Cam Buchan here and in today's episode I am going to do a 2000m row in around 6:40 on the rowing machine. This is the second most asked for time so I am happy to hopefully help a lot of people. I didn't quite manage to go the 6:40, I managed to go slightly faster so hopefully it will motivate you to do the same! Perhaps you are finding it difficult to break the 6:40 barrier and just need that little bit of a push to beat your personal best on the rowing machine. This rowing machine workout for 2000m can be performed by anyone. You can use it to compare to over time to see if you can go faster than I can or you can use it as a motivator to push you on in your rowing machine workouts.
In this rowing machine workout row along I talk you through the entire 2000m row. I try to motivate and let you guys know what goes through my head when I am on the rowing machine for a 2k. Hopefully this can help you in your 2k, whether it is during a 2k and following this rowing machine workout or whether you are on the rowing machine on your next 2k erg test and you can use the real time tips to get your own personal best.

Really love the 777/555/333/111m idea for the second 1000m. These little 'games' are a good distraction from the body saying 'stop!'. Look forward to trying this on the next 2k, thanks!

Very good mate. I like how you keep it very simple. I feel a lot of people overcomplicate 2ks with pushes or overly fussy plans. I use different markers but my approach and internal chat is very similar. I'm sure this video will be very helpful for lots of people.

It feels like for a lot of people I talk about 2ks, the issues are usually nothing to do with actual ability. The majority of the time it's to do with building up a 2k to be something harder than it is.
@@CameronBuchan it's 100% that. I always go into a 2k knowing what I'm physically capable of but the doubts are always about delivering on the day or how I will react to certain situations. That's where you need a big stack of proof to fall back on.
@@GrahamBenton that's what I find really interesting. Yes you need some proof to guide on pace but it's not a big deal. It's just another piece. You wouldn't say the same for say a 1 min on 1 min off workout or something like that. I know it's not that simple as that mentally but in reality it is
@@CameronBuchan yeah. We do harder sessions in training. It's all about the build up and the associated pressure. I know for a fact I can do what I want to do so why should it be a big deal. But it is

See, now after these two recent 2K videos, you have lured me into deviating from my long distance winter training into the alternative pain cave that the 2K is - last effort was not brilliant (well, the wheels truly fell off and not on my C2🤪).

Hey Cam, do you reckon its realistic to go from a 6:55 to a mid 6:30s 2k within 6 months of training? Im 6ft 77kg if that matters. Love the videos.
It will be difficult but not impossible. At 77kg 6:30 is pretty quick
I did 6:56 last time so now my targest is 6:50

Having a hard time catching this pace.
I maintain 32-35 m/s and kept up with the video.
But my avg 500 is like 2:15-2:25
Is my form that short lol?
The speed generated by the the machine is how hard you push. Not how many strokes per minute. So most likely not pushing as hard per stroke.
That doesn’t mean by you pushing harder you’ll be able to hit the same speed as you might just not be fit or strong enough yet
