However, they said there were was aN "operation" on how to have it open, but it took TWO FREAKING HOURS, just to open it! Screw that. Let's just say I'm not a patient person, so I just got a new one that has a touch power button and touch ejection button. That one doesn't get the red ring of death. Thank God.

Along with calling collect - and the need to get creative - were prepaid phone cards. After my parents discovered those when I went on my first band spring trip in..... .... ....... ...... 1995, they made sure my brother and I both always had one with us because it was cheaper than calling collect and we didn't need to worry about pocket change. You just had to make sure you didn't lose it.

Not so much anymore because she's grown now, now she plans out how to make her house one that kids will want to go to. Every year she gets mad at herself because she either runs out of candy or the kids don't show up and she has so much left over that she winds up sick from eating so many sweets. Once she ended up in the ER because she ate a bunch of candy that had coconut oil. She is highly allergic to coconut and didn't read the ingredient list . I asked her after she was back home if she was going to listen to me and start reading labels from now on. She growled at me and said...yeah the candy company changed the formula. It never made me sick before and it's my favorite Halloween candy for the past 5 years . Her boyfriend is the one who figured out what it was that made her 🤢 it took her 2 or 3 days to feel better.😢😂😂

The iphone story gets to me. Like yea a phone is a luxury. But to live in the west a phone is damn near required unless you live in the outback/ country or on a damn mountain. Wanna pay at the cash register but the stores system is down. Paypal through phone. Pay bills quick? Phone. Get in contact with literally anyone? Phone. Sign contracts? Phone. Read documents? Phone. Car broke down and no one is stopping? Phone. The whole "you dont need a phone" rang true in the early 2000s. Now you pretty much need it wherever u go.
