- Dusty Rhodes and Superstar Billy Graham cut promos with Vince McMahon for their match at Boston Garden on March 6, 1978. Although it was originally a WWWF title match, Bob Backlund defeated Graham for the title on February 20 at MSG.
if Dusty had been a preacher and offered me glass of Kool-Aide, I would have drank some.
Lol
RavnerRavner Yep and asked for seconds
Lol
You too?😅😅😅
As you drank the Kool-Aide, the Weasel got loaded up on milk.
Now both Rhodes and Graham can have a rematch in heaven as Billy Graham passed away today at 79. Rest in Peace.
Can we take the time to give The Grand Wizard some love. He cuts some the coolest promos! 👏 👏
yeah he called dusty little tidy bowl man haha!
"Boy! You ought to be ashamed of yourself!"
RIP Dusty Rhodes
Yes!!! 😁😁😁😊😊
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The greatest, this man can literally talk you into the building

Dusty could sell a ketchup popsicle to a woman in a white dress.
I never get tired of these classic Wrestling videos- lol.....ya gotta love em.
Lmao Vince looking at dusty like "you'd look good in polka dots pal"
😂😂😂😂😂
LMFAOOOOO 10/10
🙄
Superstar flicking his sweat into McMahon's face!! Perfect!!
Graham and Dusty were two of the very best promo men. Ever.
when wrestling used to be at midnight on channel 9 in NY.
Hugo Jaramillo ...the one thing my parents let me stay up for.
Black and white TV......than that dam comercial from beyond the door would come on and scare the shit out of me......
Right after either "racing from Roosevelt" or "racing from Yonkers"
@@jacobm5167 yep!! I remember those days. I would struggle to stay awake and never made it through a full hour. Saturdays nights on WOR would be Islanders or Rangers games (road games of course), then the harness racing, then Wrestling.
@@jacobm5167 l remember those late 1970s Wrestling nights, on WOR Channel 9🏋🏼♂️🤼🏼♂️📺
The two most revolutionary figures in wrestling promos. Ahead of their times
Dusty.....dat hat, brutha. Seriously, that IS the 70's.
Got loaded on milk and cookies, the whole town was electrified!
I swear I feel like Dusty and Billy have the black men souls. Incredible ❤
This guy walk and talk reminds so much of my Dad.
“I was literally, bodily, physically, maliciously and viciously thrown over the top rope” 😂
Wow, Vince looks so young. It's surreal to see haha.
Duh
He was 31 years old in 77.
Nobody could cut a promo like Dusty
Big Dust was the shit when it came to promos
you're absolutely right
Except Superstar! the friggin hat is a disaster!
Billy could Flair could and Macho could thats it
Timothy Kendrick ...except the guy who talked just before him. And about half a dozen others.
"hey can you show me a video where 3 guys are in the same segment that are all better than anyone they have today?"
"here you go"
RIP to one of the greatest wrestlers of all time
His hat perfectly compliments his hair
Nice promo. Still Better then anything the wwe can dish OUT.
Every Wrestler should watch this , this is how to do a promo
I like how Dusty played his game every time he come up north he would put on his Stevie Wonder floppy hat, get funky and rap. Then he’d come down to Houston or Tampa, wear his Stetson and his Lukenbach Texas T-shirt, and be a cowboy! No wonder he was the best sports attraction! RIP Stardust and Superstar Billy. I’m sure you cats are hanging out at studio 54 in Heaven.
These old school Dusty promos are wonderful! 😂
The Superstar one of best in ring workers ever. Rest In Peace Big Dusty it will never be another like you.
Dusty Rhodes on the mic was No Joke!!!
dream rocking the fly ass hat and leather jacket.
Sting Rey - like cool black guys were doing back in the early 1970's
@@cozycool3505 True, but so?

@@cozycool3505 Your blood is red, last I checked. We'll do what we want, and keep making $$ off of it, I'm sure.

RIP Dusty and grand Wizard and everybody pray for Billy Graham as he is very sick right now..
This is wrestling! Look at all these legends on camera! DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE- you're down the drain, son of a plumber- Ha HA!
Dusty Rhodes should've filled the quota on 1970's Soul Train. He is so funky!
😄🥂
Yeah!
Like a monkey
Great stuff, great promos!!😊
"You'd stand out with some polka dots" FREAKING LOOK AT HIM is there anyone who looked like this at any point in wrestling?
Hi this is Nancy Rodriguez from Lubbock, Texas now resides in Holland Michigan who knew Ricky Romero, Jose lotherio , Don Mc Clarty,Cowboy Bob Ellis, Billy Graham.back in 1963 l use to go every week to wresting I was hoping to know more on them.but l also new Dory Funk Sr. and Jr.The Shiek which alot of people was scared of him but that was part of his act. Godbless!
Big pimpin' in dat hat......lol
RIP Dusty....
Three
Legendary men who could cut solid gold promos, Superstar Billy Graham, The Grand Wizard, and The American Dream Dusty Rhodes!
Great lines
Ruptured practically my spleen
The whole town wuth electrified!
Got damned Dusty was big pimping for sho
That look on the dream's face at the end of the promo says it all.
BillyG and Dusty had the Most soul of ALL promos.
Great promos by all 3, plus a young Vince McMahon
one of my favorite quotes... " and ruptured, practically my spleen.... " and vince jr in his yellow wide world of sports blazer...doing his version of howard cosell the best of times. "and my name is...Joe McQuuuuuuue
Dusty Rhoades Billy Graham 2 of the best talkers in the Wrestling Business
saw this years ago on youtube, RIP Dusty..i was actually hurt when i heard the news. Great talent on the microphone. just as good as anything flair did in those days
Dusty was in WWWF/WWF long before the Polka Dot gimmick.
In the old territorial days territories would trade talent if they were NWA members and the old WWWF/WWF was an NWA member so they could trade talent with other NWA territories and since Florida(where Dusty did most of his work at this time) he would make occasional appearances for Vince McMahon Sr and the WWWF.
So was Ric Flair. So was Ted DiBiase. So was Tito Santana. So many came through because as John Paulson said so well, the territorial system enabled guys to make runs in major markets like NYC (via the WWWF/WWF).
There will never be another one like Dusty Rhodes. These were the best days of wrestling. Just raw and not so scripted like the soap opera wrestling of today.
so classic when the wizard calls dusty little tidy bowl man lol
Dusty is probably the best promo man of all time so so good.
Often imitated but never duplicated
electrified he will always be ...love and miss you Dusty ..The forever Dream
Dream killing em in that hat!!!!! That leather is fly as hell too!!!!
The Costhmic Cowboy, starts to get into his groove 1:51
Dusty with the Pimp hat I LOVE IT!!!!!
Ty brought back many memories when wrestling was wrestling unlike today when in ring action almost seems to be an afterthought
Did anyone catch the foreshadowing of Bob Backlund in this promo? Dusty mentioned his name for a reason. It was already in the works. So weird that after listening to these promos they didn’t have enough sense to turn SBG into a face and keep the belt....what could have been 😟
Dusty Rhodes THE KING SUPERSTAR TRIBUTE 💖😍🥰🌹⚡🖤⭐💥👑💥⭐🖤⚡💗💞❄💙💎🍀💘💕💋🌈🦋🌺🔥💛🧡❤🔥🌸💜💚
Superstar looked like a invincible machine.
Damn I barely could recognize Vince McMahon. Jesus Christ he is so young there
I never knew Dusty Rhodes was in the WWF before his polka dot attire era.
This video is not from WWF but the WWWF Vince Sr.'s promotion that Vince jr bought and turn into the WWE we all know and love. Vince JR started as an announcer for his dad in the WWWF and the way you can tell is Vince JR's hair and mustard yellow blazer.
roninblade19 Yes I know about WWWF. That is simply what WWF used to be. I just never knew Dusty ever worked for the McMahons, Sr or Jr, at any time before 1989.
0004pedro At this time, the WWWF was a territory just like the others. The only difference was that though they recognized the NWA World Title, they, as well as the AWA, put theirs as equal while most others recognized the NWA Title as THE World Title.
But getting to the main point, back then most went from territory to territory, even if just for a run then moved on. Everyone from Bill Watts to Bruiser Brody to Stan Hansen to Masked Superstar came in, even if just for a storyline against the Champion at the time in the WWWF/WWF before Vince became national. Same went here but since heel Champs were just transitional for Vince Sr., you didn't get to see many babies make these runs.
Eddie Graham had to send Dusty to other territories because nobody could get over if Dusty was in Florida. Vince would take Dusty as a favor to Eddie Graham for a few weeks at a time. Vince's favorite wrestler of all time was Dr. Jerry Graham, who was a multiple time NWA US Tag Champion in the WWWF with Eddie Graham. To tie a bow on this story, Billy Graham, Jerry Graham and Eddie Graham were kayfabe brothers.
@@TuMalditaMadre Was Vince not a fan of Dusty's? Was Dusty not over in New York?
big dust was pimpin that hat bro...🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Dusty Rhodes...while others picked Hogan as their favorite of all time...it was always the Dream for me cause of stuff like this. Top notch.
The Dream made Hogan. Strange today fans would rather see The Dream than Hogan
Billy Graham was teaming with his brother Luke at this time. Both men were managed by Ernie Roth, a member of the Triumvirate of Terror at the time. Albano, Blassie, and the Wizard were also known as the Three Wise Man of the East.
Dusty was the Muhammed Ali of promo's!
"He ruptured practically my splein" lol
Mr Charisma Superstar Billy Graham WWWF HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION !
These were the best days of cutting promos. I was still young at the time, but still remember this style being cut around the mid 80's. The best era of pro wrestling had to be from the mid 70's to the mid to late 80's.
Buddy them boys sold them tickets, lol. I'm sitting here just smiling because if I was alive back then I know I would have bought one, that's how good the promos were
Awesome! Thanks Austin
Lord have mercy, Rest in Heaven Dream.
I like his hat.
Dusty and Billiy Graham were two of the greatest!!
Believe it or not, Superstar Billy Graham was only 34 years old when he cut that promo.
Damn he looked 44
Those were the days! Bruhda!
Love The Wiz.
RIP Dusty
If only Vince had stayed a commentator.
yeah
if vince stayed a commentator we wouldn't have the Epic Rise of STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN
@@nashywil93 yes but wrestling as whole would have benefited and Steve Austin wouldve risen in some other territory. The downfall of wcw and WWF was lack of competition for both besides eachother.
Vince tried that angle for a long time, but EVERYBODY knew Vince was the boss and he couldn't hide behind the mic any longer
@@Ricksonkimura actually his father was the boss at this time
That hair makes Graham look like Super Macho Man!
Pretty sure Graham was actually the inspiration.
its funny how billy and dusty both talk like each other - soul brother jive talk...........
I'm not sure about Dusty, but Graham got his rap from Muhammad Ali and the black preachers he'd heard doing tent revivals as a youth minister. In any case, here are two of the best talkers in the business, to this day. RIP Dusty Rhodes💫✨🌟🙏
@@tonyjones1560 Dusty is literally doing an Ali impression.

Yes. He has been many things in wrestling.
Now this is a promo.
DUSTY INDEED HAD SOUL#R.I.P😎😎😎😎😎😎
When I'm feeling low I watch old Dusty interviews and laugh 😂😂
BLUE EYED SOUL....TOWER OF POWER TOO SWEET TO BE SOUR.
That's the early Dusty from my youth! Funny and badass!!
For me he will always be The Greatest
Me too brother!
The greatest showman of all time THE AMERICAN DREAM DUSTY RHODES
Dusty was probably SBG's toughest nemesis when he was WWWF champ
@Joohnny23 I totally agree with you. I could watch Dusty Rhodes do a promo all day !
Both Dusty and Billy Graham took that "southern accent gimmick" from Muhammad Ali. Graham used it first and influenced Dusty and Flair.
Who Cares? They are both great
But he is from the south and he really does have a southern accent.
DeeNice681 And Muhammad Ali took his gimmick from wrestlers himself, a fact he's admitted(I believe the original Gorgeous George was the man he emulated). So it came back around home to wrestling, and fans of both were all the better for it.
DeeNice681 Gorgeous George > Muhammad Ali > Billy Graham > Dusty Rhodes.
DeeNice681 Graham got his from the preacher that he got the name from
dusty rhodes was my dad but he wasn't just a dad he was my favorite wrestler
Channel 56 wlvi, ah.... i remember it well. Wrestling on sat mornings in boston at either 10 or 11 am, brings back soooo many memories! How could they take the belt from SBG , the man was clearly ahead of his time.
Where are they getting all this vintage footage? VCRs weren't easily available back then, they were SUPER EXPENSIVE in the 70s! It was still actually cheaper to buy movie reels in those days!
People who worked at the TV station that aired it and then made a copy for themselves, most likely are the ones who got this vintage footage.
I think I remember seeing this as a kid 🤔
Classic.
Austin sent me
all of a sudden I feel the urge to watch a foghorn leghorn cartoon
Those were interviews,I miss those days.
Dusty Rose. Like a cross between James Brown and Ali lol
Can you believe these guys had 0 scripts? All natural no bs
Incredible promos! Incredible wrestlers! Incredible! xoxo The Clarences
Yeah, you are right. Dusty used Thunderbolt Pattersons style on the mic. It worked.
