There's still people like that they hate Jarjar so much they started attacking, and harassing Ahmed Best he wanted to commit suicide by jumping off of the Brooklyn Bridge. He still with us after a big wind blew him off the side.
Poor Anna Gunn she deserved none of that and the fact that there were actual fans that harassed her is terrible

Anna Gunn played an annoying character in the most annoying way possible. Plus she has a horse-face.
I enjoyed the Klepto arc actually. It shows Skylar's change from hating crime to partaking in it. It is clever writing to me. She used to hate just the idea of shoplifting and the embarrassment of being suspected for the crime.
It also really sets up their sister dynamic for later, but it does kind of eat up time lol
I think it shows how awful Marie truly is. At the end of better call Saul....she's throwing all this shade towards Jimmie for helping Walter. Guess what Marie....so did your sister. Plus she was a F'n thief. And her husband was an as**ole. Obviously doesn't compare to what Walt did, but still.....a lot of balls on that woman.

I feel like it also adds to her personality with some of the stuff she says later, like telling Walt to off himself when Hank finds out Walt is Heisenberg. I feel like it also shows Hank and Marie arent a perfect couple, they have their own problems too

Well at the end he said that he did it for himself he liked it, he was good at it, it made him feel like he was alive, and he deserves it. It was his 'Having too much fun.' moment.
Huge props for putting 206 in S tier. To be honest, it is one of the most underrated episodes of the show
Peekaboo is one of the episodes I immediately think about when it comes to Breaking Bad. I don't believe an ATM being tipped over from that height would instantly kill a person though.

The Take has a great video on Marie. Her arc may seem trivial, but it’s an important mirror for what’s happening to Walt. The rationalisations Hank makes for her v. Skylar’s unyielding moral standard foreshadow how things will go with Walt. It’s not to be overlooked.
I watched that video too and they did make good points about the parallel between Marie and Walt
I took Jesse picking the Toyota Tercel over the hot rod as a sign he was growing up. That he wanted to be nondescript, and inconspicuous, not that he couldn't afford the other one. Need to rewatch it though.
56:55 this painting was also in BCS 609 when Kim and Jimmy were sitting in the hotel room before they ended up breaking up and Jimmy goes full Saul
There is research from a child psychologist that discusses a child first introduction to death is the game peek-a-boo. While watching this review and hearing your words made me connect this with episode 6.
Oohhh that’s a great observation! And that also makes a lot of sense.. makes peek a boo morbid, now, though and I’ll never play it with my future children 😂

*Maries clepto arc i think is to show that everyone "breaks bad" also because of her arc she has Hanks friend in the APD get her off another charge which the officer gives Hank Gale's notebook which eventually causes him to realize Walt is Heisenberg*
so not a fun arc but it has a huge effect in the plot

LUBIA, I am so sorry that you are going through such a tough situation. I went thru it in the 90s and it is the worst thing. I self medicated which only made things worse. Today I am totally free of it. I go everywhere without any issues and you can too. You have found non alcohol or drug abuse to help you through going out. Hank's beer didn't pop because they were sealed too tight. They popped because either he bottled them before fermentation stopped, or he miscalculated the sugar addition for bottle carbonation. It's a somewhat common mistake with novice homebrewers. Also, how the heck did he break a bottle with a bench bottle capper? Once you adjust the height for one bottle (which is impossible to get wrong), the plunger only goes down far enough to cap the bottle no matter how hard you push on the lever. There's even a spring-cushion on the plunger.
1:05:37 what he should have done is actually set an alarm to take meds, then make it go off that morning and then he explains the “call” Skylar heard without bringing it up.
Yeah but the whole point is for small things like that to build up and raise suspision for Walt. The show is supposed to be tragic and for things not to go the best way, making every character take the best possible decisions to avoid all consequences and get the best ending defeats the whole point of making a story
@@NoirKirbi I know, I was saying he should have done this by a logical standpoint, with a story standpoint his decision makes sense.
The tiara arc also highlights Walt’s inability to confess and resolve his relationship with Skylar when Marie does confess and resolve her’s.
My take on the Marie klepto arc: It has nothing to do with Marie--and definitely not her relationship with Skylar. It has everything to do with Skylar's relationship to the law and morals. When she returns the tiara and is held in the manager's office, she makes a very interesting choice. She could let the police come, explain the situation, and get Marie in trouble. However, she chooses to fake going into labor instead. This tells us two potential things about Skylar. First, it shows that--while she is appalled by Marie's actions--she still chooses to not take the step of getting the law involved, which foreshadows the actions (or in her case, inaction) she takes when she finds out about Walter's much more severe crime. Second, it shows us that honesty is what Skylar values most. Skylar is unwilling to accept any sort of apology from Marie due to her not fessing up. She demands an apology not for the apology but because she needs the truth. We once again see this pop up when she confronts Walt after he is recovered from surgery. She doesn't care if he is having an affair, is doing a crime, sneaking out to play hinky dinky with the punks in the park--the problem is he lied. And, when Walt and Skylar finally sit down and Walt puts everything on the table, this is when the choice is made: Skylar is not going to the police.
I watched Breaking Bad since day one (lived in Albuquerque all my life) and to me season 2 is when the show took off in quality and hasn't been matched since by either BCS or Breaking Bad. Thanks for the work you do, Kiwi!

Lol what do you mean "widely considered to be inferior"? It was designed to be a cheap imitation with horrible acting and cinematography to parasitise off breaking bad's success, it being worse is not even a question

Great catch on the wind-up with the sledgehammer where he was gonna hit Jesse during the ATM scene, I've probably seen that episode at least 4-5 times and I don't think I've ever caught that little detail!

Idk if this was already pointed out or not, but because season 1 was originally going to be 10 episodes, season 2 episode 2 was supposed to be the season 1 finale. When you look at things from that perspective, it definitely makes more sense

It's interesting to wonder what people would think of Skylar if we weren't shown Walt's perspective for most of the show. I think people _would_ sympathize with her more if they didn't realize how much fun(for the viewer) that Walt was having.

This was such an incredible experience to watch back to back with the first tier list! I'm writing this not long after finishing this part, and am consciously stopping myself from going on to the next part, and let it all sink in. Throughout watching/listening to you discuss each episode I kept experiencing heat flashes like I've never experienced before. Even after watching certain scenes but mostly reading about the series, I never thought how REAL these characters and their situations would feel.
Also, I'm especially surprised about Tuco! Reading about him, watching his final scene, I truly believed that he was going to be an overarching antagonist, who'd meet his end in season 3 or likely 4. It's incredibly how a character can have such a huge impact, and I love every time you bring this up to emphasise this fact. Thank you so much for the incredible amount of work, time and effort that went into this project! I don't plan on watching the series ever, but I'm immensely enjoying your reviews, and I'm looking forward to watching the Season 3 tier list!

It's a good thing to split them in two as it gives you more time for details and small video clips, although season 5 of Better Call Saul is my fav of that other show, your retrospective of it being so very long kind of diluted the kind of good commentary you can do and it was more of a chore than with your other retrospective videos since I remember it being 4 1/2 to 5 hours long with zero clips at all. DMCA allows for up to 30 seconds of video when doing critique, analysis etc. and I like that you brought them back for Breaking Bad's retros. Keep up the good work.

1:19:50 one thing I also really like about this scene is that Walt says "do it" when Jesse holds the punch above his head, and then he lets him go. It really resonates with me considering this is basically the same thing that happens at the end of the whole series as well.
I love that you made a comparison between Jesse and Ricky from Trailer Park Boys. Although realistically he's more like J-Roc.

Breaking Bad definitely has a good number of SS tier episodes. Besides Ozymandias, we have Face Off, Gliding Over All, Falina, ABQ, and several other episodes that could certainly be debated into SS tier.
Basically, if there isn’t an SS tier, then he’s lying to himself and us.
@@internetprofessorguy2138 i don't remember much about 'Gliding Over All' aside from walt seeing his money sky locked up, the prison massacre, heisenberg coming to an end in the drug business and the ending. i don't even remember if jesse was in this episode at all.
