I must add that French pronunciation did not take stress into account (actually, Latin words used to be stressed the same way as French does: on the last syllable). Italian ecclesiastical pronunciation, on the other hand, stresses the words as Italian does, which is close to the original Latin (but ignores the original length of the vowels). This has consequences on the way the Latin words fit to the music. Fabulously energetic and expressive performance. These players are clearly feeling it.
At his death, Charpentier's complete works must have numbered about 800 opus numbers, but today only 28 autograph volumes remain, or more than 500 pieces that he himself took care to classify. This collection, called Mélanges, is one of the most comprehensive sets of musical autograph manuscripts of all time.

CHARPENTIER / TE DEUM
UNO DEI GRANDI !!! (TRIESTE ITALIA).
Just wonderful, all the voices and instruments so well balanced and matched, the best I have ever heard!!

Grande William Christi un grande Maestro, con tutti i suoi Musicisti.
Un interpretazione Magistrale, bravo. Nino Caruso Violoncellista
In this dreadful time of continuing gloom, this supremely wonderful gem from Arte uplifted my bypassed and re-valved heart ... thank you for the pure joy and soul blessing I have found here!
thankyou for the unexpected acclaim
bourreDeLaVie: That is amazing surgery. I hope you are recovering well and comfortably. We in Dixie have a saying for our friends and loved ones and I pass it on to you: ‘Bless your heart!’ We usually give a warm and friendly hug at the time but I can’t do now although I do wish you a speedy recovery. God bless you. 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
One of the Very Best Performances of this Magnificent work.
Absolutely gorgeous! The performers truly convey the joy of this piece. Bravo!
quelle musique éblouissante ! bravo pour votre interprétation.
Te Deum laudamus the official Hymn of Thanksgiving of the Roman Catholic Church, attributed to St. Ambrose of Milan and St. Augustine of Hippo who was converted by the former to God for graces obtained from Him.
It is inspired by Psalm n°18.
Viva Cristo rei 🇻🇦
A majestically piece of music. Awesome it gives me goose bumps...love it and immersed quite myself in glorifying Our God Almighty.
Que bela música! A música clássica é incomparável.
Heavenly Father, I give all thanks you for making a Christian!
Magnificent! I love the obvious passion of the musicians!
Vive Dieu! Merci, Charpentier!
Wow, the choir SLAPS!
So much energy, holy cow!
I'd like to know if the master of slaps, davie504 agrees with that.
but yes, I'd say, it slaps.
@@robertheinrich2994 Hahaha!😆 With a continuo section that stacked? I'm sure he would approve. Archlute/theorbo, big double bass, and I think organ with pedals. Doesn't mess around!
This music is sooooo beautiful. Orchestra, choir and conductor, all of you deserve not less than 10+. Greetings from Brazil.
This is "Te Deum" of Charpentier, absolutely fantastic, beautiful !
That is simply superb!! And very professional.
A great videocast I love every thing about this particular performance of Charpentier's magnificent Te Deum. Great solo and choral singing.
The instrumentalists were in superb form also which all in all made for the most memorably brilliant of musical experiences.
What a beautiful way of praising God.
Amen
As a music lover since childhood, i ask myself; can music be better than this? It's a climax from beginning to end! Amazing performance! Thanks! ❤
Merci !
Gloria sit tibi Domine (Glory to Thou, o Lord)
omnis terra veneratur.
Tibi omnes angeli,
tibi caeli et universae potestates,
tibi cherubim et seraphim,
incessabili voce proclamant :
« Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus
Dominus Deus Sabaoth.
Pleni sunt caeli et terra
maiestatis gloriae tuae. »
Te gloriosus Apostolorum chorus,
te prophetarum laudabilis numerus,
te martyrum candidatus laudat exercitus.
Motion and Emotion! More than excellent!
Charpentier 12 points!
Honey, those times are long over....unfortunately.
A fantastic performance !. An absolute joy. Hats off to everyone. Marvellous !.x x .
Mervellieux Charpentier! Grande Christie et ses Ars Fleurisants!
Orchestra ,musici , cantori e Direttore un connubio perfetto.Bravissimi
This majestic and solemn performance they play with exquisite skill and splendid technique is beyond description , immeasurable , unfathomable and full of admiration and emotion , and comfortable to the ear and the mind
Yikes, that was a big emotion for a performance… unfathomable?! It was quite fathomable, because it was fathomed. Immeasurable?! Literally, the time signature of the music is called the ‘measure’. ‘Beyond description’?! You literally described the performance as all those other things. Chill out bro.
