This trap should honestly be called "jaws of the void"
you could have replaced a regular chest with a trapped chest to trigger the trap this could work with any trap
Trapped chest has some red pixels which are easy to notice

I found out the way clown found it because rek had obsidian and white dye in his Hotbar in the screen shot and the signs color is broken big brain moment
Next time use crafting tables instead of stairs - it's more effective, also disabling pearling unless you crouch
