The Optimus head sculpt on this looks really nice. For that matter the proportions are pretty good all-around. It's not like I'd ever leave it in truck mode anyway.
I feel like this Optimus Prime would look best next to the Combiner Wars Megatron. I'd be interested to the two of them together. Also, why haven't I seen anyone do Orion Pax with Optimus Prime's head? That seems like it would make for a funny photo.
This is a bad assed version of Optimus Prime and love him in robot mode. Its nearly as awesome as MP-10 Prime until you transform him in vehicle mode lol.
i'm a year late on this but i noticed that the instructions don't tell you how to transform orion pax all the way to the trailer mode you can take the arms and push them down and peg them into the pegs on the inside of his chest there are little slots on the fists that let you do that it doesn't fix the problem entirely but it helps a ton
Well, we're getting Magnus in Seige, but he has the white Optimus for his smaller robot mode and not Dion. Which, to be fair, is more in-line with certain lines of fiction and the G1 toy, where he has been depicted as being a white-and-blue Optimus Prime in a suit of power armor.
The rear of the semi cab mode is a horrible mess, let's be honest. But...I can overlook that because of the Orion Pax / Optimus Prime gimmick, and because it looks like a fun toy to transform. Some might disappointed if one wanted a pure G1 Powermaster Prime homage toy, but this is a nice twist on that theme.
This is why I turn to you, Peaugh, when I have a question I need answered. Overall you're much more upbeat and positive than the dude on Tformers. I'm still a little on the fence about getting these two, but at least now I know they're good, solid toys.
I noticed that with both Prime and Primal, the 'evolution' is basically just wadding up the little guy and stuffing him into the torso of the bigger guy. Rodimus at least splits and feels more like a power-up to me. Initially, I was intrigued by Hasbro taking a hint from third party guys and making 'power-up' guys, but the execution fell short. A few years ago, there was the City Commander kit for the Classics Prime (and there was one for Hot Rod too) and that actually felt like armor, or a more bad-ass version of the little guy. As much as I wanted a Prime with his trailer, this feels like a whiff.
Now we need a POTP Evolution Megatron that changes into a cannon/ tank and evolves into Galvatron with this gimmick then maybe Thundercracker into Scourge and Bombshell or Skywarp into Cyclonus and we're all set LOL
+Vergames 2 Indeed, but that would the only draw back, unless it is done as the PLAYMATES TMNT Mutation character toys, and I think that would be a bit more difficult, being as the evolving Megatron figure would have to be a Quadruchanger...but then again...LOL

It looks like if you remove the pax arms you can dramatically improve truck mode. Might pay for 2 of these for some experiments. Paint them hands blue too.

Yes you can. Just like with the Enigmas of Combination (both the Dinobot one and the Decepticon one) and with the Prime Masters, they all have the Titan Masters' 'head' mold, so they'll plug into the top of the TR bodies for use as a head. It'll look a little weird, but you can do it. I'd be wary of plugging anything into TR Scourge, though. The connection point for his head is poorly made, so anything you plug in will be _really_ loose. Any other TR figure should work okay, though.
Then you should know how loose his head is. Unless it's just mine that has a loose head, which is possible. Either way, you can pop out the middle of the Matrix and use it as a head for any Titans Return figure.
Another idea is to take the silver part of the matrix and switch it out with the prime version. Other words, the silver part to optimus primes silver matrix and the orange part to rodimus yellow matrix.
Takara would have made this figure into a Super Ginrai figure including a Prime Master version of Ginrai in human mode, and find a way to incorporate Godbomber with that figure, because they did remold it into a Star Convoy figure.
I like what they tried to do, but not the fact that Pax turns into Prime’s cab. I know we didn’t see the vehicle mode in “War Dawn”, but come on an earth vehicle. Pax does look good in robot mode, which is the only thing tempting me to get this one. The transformation is perfect for Ultra Magnus.

To keep it at a certain price range.all toy companies are like that to make it affordable to us.Plus they have to follow certain rules here & safety in the states unlike 3rd party..It all comes down to Budgeting & marketing.
I've waited most of my life for a good Orion pax!!! I need to pick a Megatron to go with this guy. Im putting rodimus prime with open play's big cannon
out of the hundreds if not thousands transformers that you own, about what percentage of them could you transform right now without having to look at the instructions? i probably have maybe 30-40- transformers and i can probably transform about 5 without having to look for a tutorial on youtube
So far I think the Rodimus Prime is the "must buy" for me. I'm really banking on the Roimus Prime upgrade kits to do something about his wheels and other minor issues I have with him. Optimus....I'm just not too sure I need another Optimus I don't 100% like. There's so many others I have already that are better and I like better.

Sure it's not perfect but for what it is, a gorgeous figure. The leader class figures are the only true justification for the Prime Master figures in my opinion. That and kewl mini representations of Pretenders I guess.

Yeah I know, but this is just screaming to be an alternative. I mean the Titans Return wasn't a Powermaster, it was a headmaster and the cab wasn't its own robot. I'd just like to see if someone could do better with this mold as a base.

This one is designed for a separate cab with a separate robot mode. Maybe someone could design a better smaller robot than the one here and make this into a better Powermaster Optimus.

No Takara modifications. Hasbro and Takara are now forming a "brand unity". It's part of the reason why the MPM figures and the upcoming Studio movie figures have both labels on their packages. From here on out, looks like they're unified across the board.

I think I'm going to skip this set cause the cab doesn't look right, it looks way to bulky for a cab with that junk, his gun is G1 style and splits so no points, I just think Optimus Prime is annoying and one I'm not getting. unicronius prime is basically scattered glass rodiumus prime so a scatter glass optimus shall we not rule out.
With Hasbro giving us SG Rodimus I'd say a SG Optimus is going to happen one way or another.

I'm thinking I treat this as "Trailer Armor" Prime, since it looks like his trailer converts to outer armor, covers for all of the Grey color.

Combiner Wars Megatron works well this figure. If you get the booster pack for the CW Megatron, it makes his legs bigger.

I really want to like this figure, but I just can't. There is some many things about it I just cannot bring myself to purchase it.

Just fyi, optimus ankles actually lock back onto the leg to better balance the figure and to keep that awful backward lean hes got from happening.
