I'm not going to be that person, but I swear to Gaben, this soundtrack renders me utterly speechless. This is the most beautiful piece of work I've ever come across. Like, it's so unique that it just doesn't..."work" with anything else. Morrowind was the greatest game to ever be made, and this music is a damn incredible addition.
***** I've explained this too much, lol. When the Fine Bros were dealing with their React World controversy, I told everybody to change their name to The Fine Bros, so that we could "trademark" everything and threaten to sue each other. With that said, shit went down and we ended up suing everybody. It's just a joke, lol.
In the beginning Eru, the One, who in the Elvish tongue is named Ilúvatar, made the Ainur of his thought, and they made a great Music before him. In this Music the World was begun; for Ilúvatar made visible the song of the Ainur, and they beheld it as light in the darkness. - most likely some kind of music like this
This truly is one of the prettiest themes in all of The Elder Scrolls series. One of my favorites. I do wish it were longer, or at least have an extended version.
Probably the single most well composed song that I have ever heard. It's so simple, and yet so good. I started playing morrowind because this song played in the title screen.
+Shadowkey392 Oblivion intro is the same sheme also. Same goes with the games. Every game is basically the same, but still every game can stand on his own and i cant continue writing because im shivveringh from the musci sry
The Skyrim rearrangement just doesn't have the enchant that this song had. This shit is powerful, it's almost magic. Skyrim lacked that in its theme, on top of decent, varied gameplay. Skyrim just focused on being "simplified" and "epic". Trash.
I disliked it because they seemed to dumb down the choices you could make, and also made questionable decisions with the lore. Skyrim has problems, and its very foolish to dismiss people's criticisms of it as simply wanting "morrowind 2.0."
You simultaneously missed the point entirely and replied with the stock response most people have when someone criticizes things they like. Why is wanting "Varied Gameplay" and a game that is less "simplified" automatically a call for "Morrowind 2.0"?
"This is the 27th of Last Seed; the Year of Akatosh 433. These are the closing days of the 3rd Era, and the final hours of my life." - Uriel Septim VII
The oblivion main theme and Dragonborn are fantastic. they are epic in their own way. This? This isn't epic. This doesnt have the tension, the epic thrills that dragonborn brings, this is a simple track that sums up the game in one word. Adventure.
+Michael Shin This wasn't meant as an insult against the song. the song is absolutely fantastic and I love it, but it sums of Morrowind perfectly, Morrowind was about the adventure, not about saving the world.
I would actually walk down the aisle to this, not only is Morrowind my favourite game but it's actually a beautiful piece of music as well so people who haven't played the game would just be like "oh this is nice music"
Play this track, lean back, close your eyes. You're in Balmora now, and the rain is washing the dust from the street. You take shelter under the eave in front of the Fighter's Guild, and watch the banners flap in the wind. A swig of flin from your flask chases away the rain's chill. Soon you'll head in to report and rest in the barracks, but for now its pleasant to let the storm's damp sooth away the trials you endured crossing the ashlands....
I just watched a video of the progression of all the Elder Scrolls game, and when Morrowind popped up and this song played, I got goosebumps, and I feel like I could cry. I came to this video just to listen to it and see this comment! You said it well.
Every time i hear this track, the hairs on the back of my neck rise up, and a feeling of longing rises up in my heart, this track brings my mind back to that troubled isle and its harsh beauty like nothing else.
Kelly Sustaita Actually, I'm playing both oblivion and skyrim, and aside from morrowind, I'm planning to play the Witcher series and the souls series, so I don't think I've got THAT much free time. And I got plenty of free time.
Marcelelias11 I really hope it does. It is personally my favorite Elder Scrolls game. Skyrim comes in second, then Oblivion. It is kinda difficult to play them backwards. Hopefully you'll learn to love it :)
This song always brings up the beauty of the Elder Scrolls and its alternate universe: It brings a feeling of being in a new world and experiencing something like never before.
I reckon it would be cool if they set the next game in summerset isles. We hardly know anything about the place and it would be cool to tie in a storyline with the thalmor
I love the way that all the elder scrolls games has a differente version of this song, Merrowind with the calm one, oblivion with the heroic one and skyrim with the brutal one. Simply love it.
The drums in the beginning, the "Thum...Thum Thum.." are the beating sounds of the Doom Drum. The fascinating thing here is that in Aldmeri language doom drum is translated Lorkhan. The drums in the beginning are the beating sounds of the Heart of Lorkhan.

morrowinds my favourite game but after playing it for over 10 years i just now realized how 0:25 sounds just like a part of Gustav Holst's Jupiter bringer of jollity (around 3:30ish depending on the arrangement?)

Fun Fact: the "Thump Thump" of the drums, that accompanies the entire song?
It's the Heart of Lorkhan, beating.
Considering Lorkhan's role in the creation of mortals his heartbeat resides in all mortals... Hence why the Drumbeat has been prominent in every following game with variations for tone of the game.
Actually, it's Molag Bal pounding Vivec's ass
The Heart of Lorkhan is the tactus of the song that is Mundus
