Hey i have a 2012 outlander Xt800 and the rear diff blew i put it in drive and start it and the shaft just spins so im sure its pretty ugly in there lol My buddy owns a shop and they said they have a g1 diff i can buy for 300 bucks Will that diff fit in my bike?
mudNwheels I have a vid on my channel. Can see how much slop my pinion has. I haven’t pulled pinion to see yet tho. Thinking about saving for gen 1.0 diff.
OK, am preparing to buy two new machines for my wife and I. I am considering a 650XMR for the wife and either an 850 XMR or a Renegade 850 for me. I m concerned about the diffs. Are the Renegade Diffs as strong as the XMR"s. I am told the XMR is geared lower and is stronger to handle the bigger mud tires. (Truth? Opinion?) Neither of us are in to deep mud riding, and am considering buying both XMR's and then then going to a tall but less aggressive tread tire for trail riding. I will be pulling the occasional trailer around my farm with the 850 and will be using the big mud tires then, but otherwise we don't really abuse our rides. What do you recommend Renegade or XMR?
How does smaller bearings make the g1 a better diff when i see the g2 wit begger bearings meaning better load handling is the oil capacity the same between the 2???
when gen one diffs failed it was almost always because of a needle bearing failure. but the gen one diff used better gears and had better attention to detail than the gen 2
+Dylan Pendergrass here is a link to my web site. i do sell a xmr conversion kit iff you have a built up mud machine if you run a more stock bike then i can rebuild your diff for you mudnwheels.com/Home
the short answer is no. depending on the year there were many changes. if you are talking about a new style gen one diff 2015 and up and the same vintage g2 diff then yes
I just bought a 2019 xmr 1000r Outlander... how much to have a build it with ur 2.0 or do u know if they improved it maybe? Or do you have a kit for that model yet that I could order from you and do the install myself? Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice an info.
hey congrats on the new toy. you will need the xmr torque series diff when or if the time comes check out our web site mudnwheels.com you can also send us an email if you have any other questions
Glad to see this. I’m getting ready to rebuild a G1 rear. I look forward to seeing the condition of the gears
I think the company calls it the final drive and the open differential is in the front. The back wheels turn at the same speed.
Is it possible that there is more flex in the g2 diff? what I mean is when you hit the throttle the diff case isn't braced well.
Appreciate your video info. Cheers, Pete
+Pete Woronowski thanks pete

What’s better a vent hose to the snorkel or a bellow for the rear diff when riding in mud an water thanks for your input
the bellows works best imo
What are the odds that Im gonna need a new case if my pion bearing and needle bearing are shot. Has a pretty good amount of play
in most cases as long as the outer race of the needle bearing is still intact you case should be fine
