The Lallantop is in Karnataka to cover Elections. We were in Bangalore, so we visited the very famous Mysore Sandal Soap factory and recorded the making of Mysore sandal soap. Mysore Sandal Soap is a brand of soap manufactured by the Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), a company owned by the government of Karnataka in India. This soap has been manufactured since 1916, when Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, the king of Mysore, set up the Government Soap Factory in Bangalore. Another fact is, The is the only soap which is made with 100% Pure sandalwood oil. Watch the video to see the making of Mysore sandal soap.

The brand is established by Wodeyars of Mysuru in 1916, and the soaps were given as a present to visitors of Mysuru kingdom. Post independence the manufacturing is under KSDL, as per standards the Mysore Sandal Soap has highest TFM 80% (Total Fatty Matters) which describes the quality of soap (Grade 1).

As you mentioned in your video it is made with 100% pure Sandal Oil
Sandal oil cost 175000-200000 lac rs per ltr if they are adding only 1% it will 1750-2000 per kg oil only
Where as 150grm soap cost is Rs 82
It mean per kg finished soap cost with MRP is Rs 546 per kg
How is it possible
They must be adding few drops per kg of samdal oil rest is perfume

Yes maximum weight of the soap is from Soap noddles they may add 1-2 drops of sandle oil rest they add colour and perfume for feeling of real sandle .

I am also these soap past 10 yrs. when I was past used then cost was only 26 rs
The base is from Adani group and the oil used is palm oil. There is no sandalwood oil in the base. So it is not 100% sandalwood oil soap as mentioned.

You are right about soap base. Soap contains pure sandalwood oil it does not mean whole soap is made up of sandalwood oil.

@candidt8634 - no soap can be made from 100% Sandalwood, every soap needs a soap base then any fragrance can be added to make end product in whatever shape you want, when they say 100% sandalwood oil, it means no other fragrance, just pure sandalwood added to soap.
As someone pointed out, the majority of industrialists and businessmen in India are from Gujarati or Marwari community so you stop buying any goods /services from that community? Be realistic, and don't lose your common sense by following NDTV and its allies.

They are trying to deceive customers by hiding fact that the main ingredient in the soap is palm oil and not sandalwood oil. In fact the sandalwood oil may by less than 0.5% of the total fat.
