I have perennial rye and Kentucky blue grass. I live up north And I’m thinking about scalping in the winter and go over to tall fescue and Kentucky. Any suggestions.

Nice to see fescue and Bermuda can look very nice. A guy seeded our lawn with Bermuda instead of the fescue we wanted. Did not want Bermuda. Now wanting to seed fescue and rye for winter. Hoping they do well all together.

How do you get Bermuda to stripe? I am cutting at 2 inches now...can really only see the tire marks. Should I go at 3-4 inches to try and get that deep stripes?

The only reason I dont cut at 3-4 now is because I have some bad grass that if its anything about 2 inches it doesnt look good. However even when I tried 3-4 inch one time the stripes didnt seem to stand out very much like in pictures I have seen.
@GitSumGaming I've cut Bermuda Lawns at 3 inches, and it looked good with my Scag Mower. What makes it stand out is if that bermuda lawn is green. Tall Fescue or a hybrid lawn is always gonna stripe harder than Bermuda, though.

Hopefully I can try it at 3-4 inches soon and maybe it will start to stand out with the stripes more.

Absolutely HATE Bermudagrass mixed in my fescue. I consider it a weed. It is however nearly impossible to eradicate and grows everywhere. You're approach embraces that quality of Bermuda.

Yes, that's the only downside to this lawn BUT right now majority of the lawn is Fescue. I'm going to do updates on this lawn all year to show its progress
@@PoloFieldsLawnService in Hickory NC. I am not as familiar with fescue although I know Bermuda can be invasive in garden and shrub areas. I just haven't had any success with fescue... which is what the house had when. we moved here. thanks
@designbuild gotcha, I assume the heat can be an issue. You gotta have a different approach with a cool season lawn in your area. It can be grown and look great. You can go with any grass type being in the transition zone. Just depends on what you're looking for as far as looks, durability, etc
Hello, Bermuda is an aggressive grass and is hard to control. The best way and most expensive method is using Pylex. It will attack the Bermuda and not harm your fescue. Other than that, Glyphosating it is the other option. Some people use other products but most of them just suppress the Bermuda and it will come back. I have a couple spots in my lawn as well and I just use round up on those small spots. It's been getting less and less as each year passes. I hope this helps 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Hello, the first question would be what part of Texas do you live? RTF stands for Rhizomatous Tall Fescue. It's a tall fescue with Rhizomes that can fill in bare spots of your turf with new shoots of grass.
What part of South Carolina do you live at? Just asking because your walking a thin line with a cool season grass since warm season grasses NORMALLY grow in this area

Hello Damion, 1st, do you know what type of weeds you have? If you have typical weeds like wild garlic, Clovers, or dandelions, any typical 3-way herbicide will work like "speed zone" If you have weeds like creeping Charlie or wild violets, Triclopyr will get rid of them. Also If you have the violets or Creeping Charlie, it's BEST to go after the weeds NOW while the Bermuda grass is still dormant. Using Triclopyr on a Bermuda Lawn that is green will turn it brown. No way! Don't want any bermudagrass in my tall fescue. Use Tall Fescue that can spread like bermudagrass. Cost more but worth it. I will Never mix cool season grass with warm season. Not for lawn.

If you're gonna add anything to it, just do fescue. Don't do fescue and rye.
