Meee 🙋🙋🙋, It was very fun, and I feel like we all were able to get to know your supporters and you better... What do u think the supporters should be called?
Can we appreciate how she gave specific instructions on how many times to knead it???? Idk if anyone else noticed but as someone who needs specifics on everything, this was much appreciated
@@scott4868exactly.. even i dont know whats twenty times kneading and i knead dough on a regular basis for chapathi, tortillas etc for my family, like i don't understand do i have to 👊🏻 punch it 20 times or something
If you already made them fresh then cook the rice cakes in the broth so it'll get thick and saucy. Unless you like your tteokbokki soupy like this one. Using a little less water and steaming the dough in the microwave also works well!
Thanks for the recipe! I finally got it right. Gosh, the first couple of times were awful, haha. It melted like cheese when I tried boiling them. The problem was that I tried to microwave the flour and hot water like many recipes say you should do. The consistency was awful every time, like mochi, only worse. But with your recipe it finally worked! The trick is to just use enough water for a dough to form. If it's too much, you need to work more flour into your dough, till its not sticky and barely wet. When you get the hang of it, it's really easy. Never gonna buy store bought again. They cost like 8 euros for 600gr.
It's so interesting that there are similar elements in different cultures all around the world. The method of preparing tteok is extremely similar, exact even to how we prepare dumbu (a tribal cuisine from Chotanagpur,India),the only difference being the shape .
All cultures across the world realized that different textures (chewy, crunchy, soft) in combination with different flavors are ideal in one dish. Except for the British of course.
Idk why I never Considered making them from scratch?! That’s so simple! I normally buy them frozen but I’m definitely making them on my own from now on.
Can also make tteokbokki with just rice! Just have to cook it in a rice cooker or in a pot(get a rice cooker, trust) and then once it’s cooked put it in a stand mixer with a little butter and mix for about 40 min till it becomes dough like and isn’t sticky and then wet your hands and cut it up and roll them into rice cakes!
Try not to make it complicated to such a easy process... U can use normal cooked rice but it's more difficult to make it into small particles...just get a packet of milled rice flour
। made it today. And it was the best rice cake I ever had. I made tteokboki with it. The rice cakes was so soft and chewy. Thank you so much. Definitely it's gonna be my regular dish from now on.
Thank you I made this immediately after watching this took like 20 minutes and only because I had to boil water . You have saved me so much money buying the dried ones . The texture is also so much better. ❤❤❤
It's amazing how often you can find mochiko in regular California grocery stores, this has to be the most convenient way to make tteok regularly 🎉 ty for recipe!
i recently tried tteokbokki for the first time when my fam and I went to eat at this restaurant, it's really good! it's exactly like how I imagined it would taste and feel like. it's nice and chewy, and I didn't know what to think of the sauce, it wasn't bad but it was definitely something new for me.
heres a hack to make ur own tteok. just get rice paper, stack 2 or 3 depending on ur preference of thickness and roll them up. thats it ! the taste is exactly the same as tteok but its more chewier. ive been making my tteok this way for the past year and i love adding them to my ramyeon.
Thank you so much for this! You were the one to get me into tteokbokki in the first place, and I love it so much I eat all the tteok within a few days of my monthly trip to the Asian store (an hour away!) I can find sweet rice flour at local grocery stores so this will help me with the middle/end of the month craving!
This looks so easy~ I once tried ro make this hut mustve used the wrong type of flour because it came out gloopy 😭 that really discouraged me from trying again, but seeing this it seems so simple I'll have to try again following your recipe! thank you~
I love these. Always thought they looked so appetizing in a Korean Comic i read! Then i had them for the first time last summer at a local Korean Hot Pot/BBQ place (cost over $100 for 3, but worth it). Now, i cant live without this Ttetobokki (not sure if i spelled it right).
It is really hard to find asian grocery items that go beyond some sauces, and maybe jarred bamboo shoots. But I've been wanting to try tteokbokki for ages! Now I need to find this rice flour and I can finally try it :D
Made these today! And made a uni-student-minimal-ingredient-variation Tteokbokki with them. I might have put too much water because they were stickier during kneading and turned out more chewy and soft than store bought. However, they were delicious and the texture was very enjoyable this way as well! Thank you for the recipe!!
I learned another way somewhere is that you can get some rice paper, get it wet with boiling water and roll them up to make tteokbokki shape and they’re really yummy either way- but this looks very cool too I’ll have to try someday!!!
Thanks for this! I love making tteokbokki but the premade fresh packs always make too much for me and roommates. Now I can make just the right amount at home!
OMG, You just made my day. When I made the garaetteok before with Michiko I wasn't for sure if it was the right flour, lol. Now thought I know Red Mill has it, I will just that. OMG, so happy. I make it three times a week.
I may be wrong but I always thought that garaetteok (the type of rice cake used in tteokbokki) was made using rice flour, not mochiko flour which is two very different things. I'm Korean so ik where to get rice flour that is traditionally used so maybe she is using mochiko for sake of accessibility for other people?

I've always wanted to eat the long tteok noodles but found it too wasteful to buy the bag with sauce I couldn't even use cuz I'm vegetarian. Thank you for this 😊❤ Now I can make myself.
who saw me film this on youtube live?! 😊

Euhm Euhm me
Can we use normal rice flour
Not seen them made from scratch, thank you! ❤
I tried to make them by scratch 5 times in one night and followed so many diff recipes and failed every time so im kinda angry im only seeing this now
you can use rice and make it into a flour, “nino’s home” has a recipe on that.

Can we appreciate how she gave specific instructions on how many times to knead it???? Idk if anyone else noticed but as someone who needs specifics on everything, this was much appreciated
But the specific amount is so ambiguous as to be pointless in reality. 20 times kneading with how much strength? How far are you stretching?
