I was one of the test sacrifices with the twitch app. I had that update for 3 months.
Ive talked about it no one believed me.
I also put in a ticket for twitch at that time. Now I get 50 emails a day saying someone commented on it.
    We finally all suffer together.

First of all, thank you for your testing, consequential suffering and reporting.
Now let me go find that report, I want to send you an email :)
      Edit:
      Found it, I think!
And really, how could they have known that the platform with the strongest focus on viewer retention and long(est) form content would suffer from adapting practices aimed at short form with abysmal viewer retention. /s

    • it doesn't give you ads in the short form, and it typically loads up your most watched followed channel who's live. So you can see what they're doing and decide if you want to watch.
    - But, it is inconvenient that seeing your follow list now takes more clicks. Not being able to see what everyone is streaming kinda sucks.
I think it's good for casual users of twitch. Who may only use it once a week or so or who are bust. For those who just want to quickly see what their favourite streamers are up to without opening the app and then closing when they get ads upon opening a stream.

We’re all conditioned to just scroll our lives away. Sad. One of your previous shorts you mentioned that your shorts are like land mines that remind people to stop scrolling and get off shorts, this is one of those. Thank you Thor, your service is valuable beyond measure o7

Was trying to watch on twitch last night and had two separate streams audio playing at the same time, then after closing and reopening the app, I had the same stream's audio but overlapping itself with a slight delay. Super fun and great.

I wish they had implemented a scroll system for like trending clips instead. That would actually be a good way of finding streamers you don't normally watch. But it's likely that whatever's happening at any given moment during a smaller stream won't be enough to convince you to watch the streamer, you'll just scroll along (or go right to the actual stream you opened the app to watch)

I will say there is one nice thing about the new mobile app: the creator tools are now closer to the amount of functionality desktop has, although it's not all the way yet. The rest of the new interface though...

One thing that companies should probably do is measure the impact of their changes *for different segments of the population*. Most everyone does A/B testing on UX changes, but I doubt they test them for new users, long-time users, and content creators separately.

They should seperate the scrolly stuff as a different tab
It can still be there, but not replacing the main page that already worked

  • @sauceofbeanz
    @sauceofbeanz 26 дней назад

i think if it were an option that they added instead of replacing the home page with it then it would actually be gud for that reason, that u can actually find small streamers

  • @Dixvtvods

The mobile app being leaned more towards finding new smaller content creators is actually really cool and needs to be pushed more, but they can definitely do it a bit better with how it's set up.

  • @sangsogin

You know that the scrolling thing was already there … on its own tab … They didn’t add a new feature they removed one and made this mandatory…

  • @balakes9887

I LOVE the new app, and how the inescapable autoplayed stream (which has literally NEVER been the stream I was launching the app to watch) will usually continue to play in the background, meaning I get audio from two streams at the same time. Another FANTASTIC feature is how I have to minimize or close the stream I want to watch and then reconnect to it, which also resets the pre-roll ad flag. Average 12-16 ads if I want to enjoy a stream without immediately blind-subbing to the channel.

  • @angelromero720

  • @Iristallite

I think the scrolling feed should be an *ADDITIONAL* option and not a home page replacement. RUclips knows this, which is why Shorts are a separate tab you have to click on yourself.

For my experience, I’ve actually liked it because I have also found smaller streamers that are really cool while scrolling through Twitch, but I think it has something to do within the algorithm when you’re watching a smaller streamer because when you watch a smaller stream more of them will pop up on your feed but it’s probably because smaller streamers have a more tighter knit community than others

I've heard 1 positive message about the new update of it being easier to just leave the stream, as when you leave the stream it stops completely instead of making a small window (which fun fact it still works with twitch in audio only mode)

  • @yoshipikminghost

I like it because it has the vibe of easily flipping through tv channels to find something to watch, seemingly without having to worry about preroll ads. To me it's a way of deciding what to watch and eventually clicking on it to get the full twitch experience with it. I don't think you're meant to just sit there and commit to watching it in vertical view. It's not perfect obviously, there's extra steps to searching for somebody you're following which is annoying. But I think I see the vision.

My favorite part is getting recommended streams in languages I don't speak and never ones I do speak.
Also, there used to be a feature that let you specify the languages that you spoke, but that had to be axed as it made the UX better.
