  • Where do you put your CB Radio in a 200 Series Toyota Landcruiser? I fit a 4wd Interiors Outback Roof Console into the Toyota Landcruiser so that I can install all of my HAM radios for my 4wding, camping and touring trips.
    Support us on Patreon and have access to a heap of extra content from campsite locations, behind the scenes stuff and just general day to day photos and videos.

    Hey mate, I just stumbled across this video by accident, and wanted to say well done. I just bought a 200 series, upgrading from an FJ Cruiser and was curious about these installs that aren’t from department of the interior. Also, something you didn’t mention is that CB radios are fantastic when you’re doing vehicle recovery, one in the cab, a hand held by a spotter and it will really help your comms in a bind.

    Nice end result very professional
    Having the vhf is handy if your out on the boat and the better half wants to contact you when there’s no mobile coverage

      Yes it’s awesome because we often have the JetSki and 4by on the beach, so it’s good to have comms if required.

    I'd love to install one of these in my 200 GX but it looks like the rear vision mirror view is obstructed. Is that the case? If so that would drive me nuts so it would be a no go.

      It’s partially obstructed as I’m 6’3’ but if you were shorter it probably would be ok. I never look at it anyway as the drawers in the back make it impossible to see anything anyway. I’m also used to having a Ute so I always just use my side mirrors. Always have. Even in my old GU I couldn’t see anything out the back of the wagon so just put a rear view camera screen onto where the mirror used to be.

      gmorph42 Great observation, I never thought of that. Yes, his rear vision is well and truly blocked alright, aye? 11:25 That would certainly put me off the lay also!

      I’ll have another look but I don’t think it’s that bad hey. Like I said before I never use it myself as I’m used to utes and wagons with cargo barriers etc. even when I drive the miso’s Hyundai I never even look at it it’s side mirrors all the way for me.

    Hi there nice job can i ask what the brand and model of the dual band is UHF CB as well very handy especially in these new vehicles that have no room to mount radios

    • @JebbreysJibberish
      @JebbreysJibberish  3 года назад +1

      That’s actually a HAM radio, it’s two radios in one and dual band. Technically you need an amateur radio license to own it in Australia and it shouldn’t used to transmit on UHF CB frequencies unless it’s an emergency. In saying that many people use them responsibly on 5w in the UHF CB bands with no problems because if your not being a knob jockey with it the chances of getting caught are minimal to none. The advantage for me as a HAM is that I can use my HAM bands, and monitor marine bands and UHF bands in one unit.

      Ah for sure then, yeah it’s Anytone AT-5888UV. I like them a lot. Easy to program, 50w and capable of up to 520mhz which is nice.

    Next time try screwing the front on first

    • @JebbreysJibberish
      @JebbreysJibberish  3 года назад +1

      Thanks. The instructions they came with clearly said to screw in the rear first to hold it up so that you can screw the front in. Maybe it might have helped but i don’t think so because the angle would have been totally wrong to get the thread started if the back wasn’t lifted
      Up. I also needed pressure to squash the roof lining to get it to sit high enough to even get the screw in the hole, don’t think I could have got that pressure if the back wasn’t screwed first... if I ever take it down I’ll try your way and see if it helps though!
