I love how you take people who still use an older version into account by explaining the alternative (Not everyone can afford to pay to Adobe monthly).
I have learned so much from you Dansky! I studied graphic design with a uni, and I didn't learn as much as I hoped... Watching your channel has allowed me to get better in my designs and understand how it all works by a few clicks. Thank you!
For those who are using this tutorial and getting jagged lines, etc.. That means you did not align the shapes when creating the symbol! Go back and align everything properly... and do it again! Yes, you still might get jagged lines on some of the stuff, even though you did everything right... simply fix that by changing the stroke from center to inside, or outside. Hope this helps
I was searching for something completely different this morning, when I came across this tutorial. I just happened to be working on a rope in one of my designs, but your method is SO MUCH BETTER. Brilliant! Thank you.
Thanks for the nice video, when you have made some angels, there were some problems in angles appearance. How to fix those issues without doing complicated manual fixes to results?
Problem at 7:13 when you select pattern brush - those first two squares on the left are empty with a red line through them for me. If I try to ignore that and hit 'OK' anyway, I get an error message saying 'you must choose a side pattern' EDIT - never mind, I just clicked on the brush icon on the brushes panel several more times + clicked around on the path and artboard, and eventually they just showed up....?
This video is amazing and very simple but for some reason right after the expand step at the 5:40 mark it goes alllll wrong for me. I do the unite step and the first two shapes become one solid color. Then i do the minus step with the red rectangles and the first to shapes are still there in complete form filled in black. PLEASE SOME ONE HELP!!!!!
I feel so good from the second half of the video where all the hard word preparation before paid of for the beauty of end results. Thanks for a great tutorial
Note from the future: Instead of using Pathfinder for cutting out the repeatable section, just highlight the two boxes and the rope pieces, then use the Shape Builder tool. Hold CTL then click and drag the line over the sections to destroy, and then click and drag the line over the sections to keep. Boom.
Maximum time I press the like button before watching your video, isn’t interesting? Just guise it, how much faith to your videos. I believe I will learn something new every time.
I stumbled upon your vid and it really helped me with my artistic embroidery in Illustrator. Cheers !! Btw, I didn't think first to create a brush and then apply to a figure, I meticulously tried to draw a path BY HAND with the Pen tool and anchor points and, yeahhh, it was terrible 😏🙄 so turned to your advice. Thanks a lot))
You’re welcome Arioso 😊 Some things do need to be done manually for sure, but if there’s a tool that’s better suited to it, oftentimes it’s quicker and more effective to use that instead 👍
Thank You so much Dansky, this is a great most fun and instructive tutorial, i really learned allot from it. for the future if you are inspired to share your Process on how to Clean up Artwork, as i am having a bit of trouble with Pathfinder tools. in solid mode things look good, but in Outline Mode it's a Total Mess. i have a bit of understanding of how they work, i may be missing some pointers on how to get a better Result or even better on how to avoid them from the get go. Once again thank You so much. Great Job
interesting, I tried to minimize too many anchor points by using the simpli tool in the object menu, this sometimes makes the original shape messy, for example a logo, do you have a better solution than what I did?
Great tutorial - very useful technique and very clear explanation. I have a question - when you expand your shapes and turn lines into shapes, is there a reason why you use "Expand…" and not "Outline Stroke"? Is there a difference?
I've done this tutorial easily 20+ times now, and without fail I get a jagged rope every single time. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. Everything is lining up when I created the initial shape.
Try making the corner less squared and it should look a bit better. One of the limitations of this technique for rope unfortunately. You could also expand and delete the corners and draw manually with the pen tool 👍
Hi! I need your help, after u done the brush the brush itself get rugged edges? a little hack between, and ive done the exact same thing as u? your brush looks more round than mine and i cant seem to fix it? please answer :(
it looks nice when I do a circle or a rectangle with soft borders, but when I do something kind of "complex" it looks bad, is it normal or did I made something wrong?
I just would like to know if there's any way I could apply color to the inside of the rope? I've been trying to get around it boy can't quite do it. I expanded it but I don't know how to make it recognize the inside of the rope as a shape HELP jeje
I love how you take people who still use an older version into account by explaining the alternative (Not everyone can afford to pay to Adobe monthly).

Thanks for the nice video, when you have made some angels, there were some problems in angles appearance. How to fix those issues without doing complicated manual fixes to results?
Hey Dansky, why you are too good in teaching!! I am totally mad on your tutorial.

I had a sudden urge to click Ctrl + S halfway through watching this XD

Thank you Danksy! Super cool. Can't wait to use this on a project.
Thanks man, going to need this rope stroke for my next project!
Thank you! How do you fix the corners on square shapes though? It looks funky
Great info and tutorial. One question... Is there an easy way to colorize the interior of the rope itself, not just the outline?
Worked a treat! cheers mate appreciate the vid!
Man you are awesome!! I learnt from u more than Uni
thank you so much!
You're welcome!
I'm having an odd issue where when I try to unite the rope, it colors in the segment entirely black. Do you know how I can get past this?
Thank you so so muchhhh!!! :)
You're welcome Vic :)

Amazing and easy tutorial. Thanks Dansky
I love these tutorials
I am having trouble creating a rope because whenever I do it there’s like this little gap section instead of the ropes being connected
this is awesome😍

My rope is coming out a with some jagged edges around the form when I create the brush and test it. Not sure why its causing this.

it looks nice when I do a circle or a rectangle with soft borders, but when I do something kind of "complex" it looks bad, is it normal or did I made something wrong?
Sharp edges are tricky, but you could do the rest using the rope brush, and then draw the different corners manually with the Pen Tool 👍
can you please make a tutorial on the design behind you on the wall. i like that very much
Thank you for this! There's so much that can be done with this!
Incredible, thank you so much Dansky!
does anyone know how to add the end caps?
Awesome !!!!
I just would like to know if there's any way I could apply color to the inside of the rope? I've been trying to get around it boy can't quite do it. I expanded it but I don't know how to make it recognize the inside of the rope as a shape HELP jeje
