Oh yeah, for sure. It's expensive but after having wasted money on other stuff I wish I had just went straight to Ruffwear. Don't get me wrong, the brand might not suit every dog, but for me, I've found every Ruffwear product to be excellent! 🐾👍
I use very similar gear for my two dogs when hiking. The Ruffwear Palisades dog packs are worth every penny, same with the weatherbeeta jackets. One thing I use for drying my dogs off, and also tent, tarp etc., is a car chamois. You can wring it out, tie it to the tent or tarp after use to let it dry out in the wind. Does a better job than micro towel Atb Bill.
I made the mistake of buying a £30.00 backpack harness for Coops & it lasted 1km in the Galloway Hills before 2 buckles straight up came off of the saddlebag, zip fell to pieces & velcro fell off anol. Was absolutely raging, but the good thing is amazon were still accepting returns. Should have just taken the hit & went with the Ruffwear to begin with!
Hi John, I read somewhere in your comments that you didn't go on the TGO challenge because they didn't accept dogs. I like your responce as it shows how great are your relationship with Moss. It'll be nice to talk about it when we meet.
Yeah, I had been in email communication with the TGO folk. When I found out Moss couldn't go that was it: if Moss ain't hikin' it then I ain't either! ♥️🐺🐾👍
Dog socks are excellent for protecting the dogs dew claw from rubbing or getting caught in the top of the boot. If your dog doesnt have dew claws they arent really necessary
pip was red raw under his front legs with his harness, i had to walk 10 miles to brodick on arran to get him a collar, i wont put a harness on him again, cheers 4 the upload very interesting and informative.,.loverly dog
It was a julius k9 harness, they are ok if ya just taking ya dog for a piss but no good for walking any distance,as i found out , pips a jack russel , he cant carry anything ,lol
@@cumbriancamper that's good to know the brand. When I got that cheap backpack for Moss I should have known better and just bought Ruffwear from the off. What is it they say? Buy cheap, buy twice or something like that? (I dont know if that K9 brand is cheap: reffering to that first backpack I had for Moss). Problem is as well you just never know if something will work or not, or even be the right size so it is hard to shell out in the first place!
£27 The k9 harness, they are everywhere down here in the northeast of england. pip is like your moss, he does everything i tell him,i watched ya earlier on the training vid, top notch dog . cheers,
For sure! Moss does not have chafing problems but I think I'm just going to carry her stuff for a while as she has picked up some injuries in my past long hikes where she is carrying a pack. Maybe it is breed dependant too?

Thanks! Was that a harness or a rucksack? Which kind? I had the same with Moss when I used a rucksack I got from pets at home.

cumbriancamper I’ve had a good experience with Julius k9, maybe the harness was to tight?
I still have issues with armpit chafing using a ruffwear harness. i think the shape of the dogs chest can play a part in chafing.
