after watching a bunch of youtube reviews from reliable channels I purchased an audew 2000 amp jump starter and am pretty pleased with it. it cranks fairly well 5 to 8 seconds on a heavy load, It laid in the house 5 months and was still at 100% the last time I used it but that was on a lawn mower and ran it down to 97% once the mower started.
I love the sound of an old Detroit Diesel. I saw a lot of them in the Army. Everything from an Inline 3 in a Gamma-Goat to a V-12 with two blowers and two turbos in a tank hauler. They're a little cold-blooded to start but they run forever.
Love your videos. Six years ago my daughter was away at college and had her first car. We bought a Noco brand jump pack after seeing good reviews from a couple you tubers I trust. It was easy enough for her to use. She saved quite a few people in her dorm complex from calling for a tow . Six years later we used it last week to start a car that’s been sitting for a year. No idea when she charged it last.

I have the noco d70 and it's been great. However it did not like winter weather. Once it gets too cold it won't work till it's warmed up. Good to see you up and about. Hope all is well
Seems a lot of people use good starting vehicles for that test but I am glad I found your video. Wailing on a no start detroit is a real test. Great Video!
Interesting test. For what it is worth, Project Farm tested some jumper packs back in 2019 and found that the Audew jumper, for $100 at Walmart, worked really well, and, was capable of spinning over an engine with a dead battery, including a diesel tractor. It might be a good lower cost option. I have really doubted the utility of these things but some of them seem to work quite well.
I bought one of these for my wife, she runs a lot of small equipment and has a gas v8 truck. She will maintain the charge and may recharge a devise. Not a solve all but she’s often working alone in the woods on trails so I thought she could jump herself as it were. Definitely not a solve all. Be well Jeff ❤️
It probably has ultracapacitors to deliver a lot of amps for a short burst. It needs the time between to let the batteries charge the caps back up for another go. Definitely not 3000 Amps, but notice the 3000 doesn't have an "A" after. Those cables are so short for a reason, it is allowing much more amperage than the cables are rated for, briefly. That's why it gets hot and it requires cool-off period. It would do a lot better to clip it to the starter solenoid and the engine ground and keep that battery from sucking up the power while you're trying to start something.
We had a totally Drained battery for a Month! We called a cabbie to cable boost Jump us. His large battery old style booster was a huge one, it couldn't jump Start us. He called a cabbie friend who had this style booster, IT DID JUMP START US! FROM a ZERO DEAD BATTERY! THE BATTERY LASTED A WEEK. WE USE INTERSTATE BATTERIES. THE Longest LASTING
Those jump packs are handy. I use mine all the time to start my riding mower and 4 wheeler. Saved my buying 2 batteries. The only thing I don't like is as soon as they detect volt from the altinator they shut down.
Good to see a sort of an old fashioned video with the old Detroit GMC. Glad she's still there and running. Good to see you're doing well too. And hey, I spy a new hand truck there. Or you straightened out your old one? Anyway, cheers! Good product review. Yeah, good thing to have for a car but I'd be checking charge every month or so.

I was an insurance adjuster for nearly 47 years (and a subscriber for several years) and recall you had mentioned in a vid that suggested the other party in your accident didn't have enough insurance. Perhaps you have checked already but your policy may contain underinsured motorist coverage which is coverage you can collect from an insured other part but whose coverage is too low to cover your expenses. Talk to your adjuster. I pray you improve daily.
@@ElderlyIron Good. And I don't mean to trouble you. However if you have underinsured coverage you can make a claim in addition to just actual expenses. It is basically for pain and suffering. Not all states are the same and there is a policy limit based on what you purchased. As a precaution just be sure your company has explained fully to you what you policy covers. Any attempt by them to "hide" coverage can open them up to a bad faith claim. Fortunately, I never worked for a company that did that or even attempted to.
To be honest, I guess I knew Jeff had a flip phone before I saw it. But when I did, laughed harder than I have in a while. As always Mr. Bradshaw, thank you for the time and the video. You never disappoint.
I'm pretty sure those Jumpstart packs are really only meant for vehicles that's will start right away. It'll probably do an old start but not meant for it

I have thought about getting some kind of jump pack, but the only vehicle I have trouble with is my 7.3 diesel, which seems to have a parasitic draw. I put a home made solar powered battery maintainer on it and let the sun keep the battery charged. I didn't want to fork out the $'s for a jump pack, heavy duty enough to do the job on the diesel.
Thanks for doing this test and video. I have a small booster similar to this, but have never tried it. This looks like a good one you have or it would have burned out with this extreme test!
Hi Jeff! Enjoyed the video. Just a heads up, all inductive (clamp on) ammeters only work on AC circuits. Some of those meters can measure DC but those meters will have a jack for DC current and the meter leads are placed in series within the circuit to be measured. So then you're limited by the amperage the meter leads can carry so they tend to only be able to measure 10 amps. Happy motoring!
@@ElderlyIron That s why I thought you cannot measure DC current with a non contact meter but according to the specs. For that fluke 375, it can measure DC up to 400 amps with the "jaw". Too bad its such a pricey bugger!
