This drama is too good and great. No denial. Everything is well written and potrayed successfully by cast. The first kdrama to have this kind of storyline 🌹 Kudos. I love it.
And if im not mistaken the first kdrama that the story was pure Sci-Fi , others might be a fantasy only but this drama made me love to the fullest even my braincells cnt contain. And the only kdrama i was crazily waiting everyweeks episode and spend my money to buy just to watched this that not in other kdrama's i do ever... This show is on another level. This OST had us feeling the pain of their separation every time Lee Gon had to go back to his world or time travel.. Gosh, so much love to this show from U.S. I don't care what the Korean fans think, but us international fans, we are grateful for this masterpiece.
if you dont know, this drama was not meant for local consumption but for international audience. so dont worry too much about the rating on sbs, high on netflix and wave and we all know this drama is masterpiece and best kdrama so far in 2020.

I have never watched a kdrama where it hit me so differently. The way this show makes me feel is so unreal. Their love was not rushed and so realistic. It makes it even more heart wrenching that even though they belong in two different worlds, their love still remains so strong. I will never forget TKEM even after the finale! I have never liked all the OSTs in one show before. I have to say if Korea isn’t going to appreciate this brilliant piece of work, then we INTERNATIONAL fans will! I literally sobbed when watching the show because I don’t want it to be over.
I do feel their love was rush. It was an amazing drama. Just don’t get how TAE EUL feel in love with LEE GO. Didn’t she called him crazy and delusional and then boom! She’s all over the place crying because of him lol

The reason this show have been promoted via Netflix because it’s obviously meant to be an international drama, with all the sponsored international products shown in the drama multiple times it’s planned to attract the worldwide foreign investors and to promote tourism and Korean show business industry most specifically film industry. So don’t get bothered with domestic rating, it wasn’t for them. 👏
Well yeah i think so too. It is meant to be an international drama. That's why they actively promote it for Netflix instead of SBS. And if it's targeting the domestic, i'm pretty sure they don't want to release this drama on SBS or any other public network. TvN will be the best choice for Kim Eun Sook's drama.

So agree with you Mr. Rico, I have same observation as you have, the very fact that the drama is streamed outside Korean TV network and Cables, the placement of huge product commercials and by the cultural highlights in the Kdrama mostly like to intend to promote tourism industry and somehow to encourage investors, plus, another factor, as far as i can see, the OST's in this drama are mostly well-known singers in South Korea, Thus, one way of promoting their talents as well, as to its entertainment industry and not just simply the drama itself. I am not a Korean, but, I have been rooting and have been watching Korean dramas and movies for several years now. I may say, this drama TKEM is quite unique and catches my attention in so many aspects, maturity of the leads in romance, the deepest emotions, the science-fiction aspects, the flow of the story telling, the essence of every single details that at some point every mature individual are able to understand, to comprehend. This is not just a simple love-romance story, this is a mature level one of romance, Thus, the creativity of the writer to come up into this one-of-a-kind ideas in drama, this is something that not all any ordinary writer can do. Me, as among the viewers, i've always respect and give credit to everyone's great efforts in this drama. they have invested so much of their very best, to give satisfaction, enlightenment and entertainment to everyone of us, as viewers, if we are happy by watching, they are more so happy, its because, in their utmost efforts, they have done so well and so very hard. i hope i am able to share a just and respectful ideas on this drama. I became LMH's casual fan after watching The Heirs and I watched it everyday because I loved the story and his gorgeousness but when I started watching The King, I thought it was waaay better storyline wise and chemistry -wise. LMH and KGE's chemistry is one of kind. So sweet and pure.

Lee Gon & Tae Eul might have to sacrifice for the sake of their loved ones. i honestly can’t bear to look at Lee Gon’s eyes. his life since young is always traumatic but he never lose himself. Tae Eul is strong but she’s more fragile than Lee Gon. the last thing i want is a sad ending for Lee Gon & Tae Eul. i can’t imagine them not being together. Lee Gon truly needs Tae Eul by his side. Generally as his queen but above all, she’s a part of him. Tae Eul has been in his life for 25 years, at the moment he was about to die, she was Lee Gon’s hope. if it weren't for her this drama wouldn't be as good, her acting and chemistry with LMH and the other cast members is perfect. And only she could be JTE, i don't think anyone else would do, she was perfect for the role. And she is an amazing actress.

The King - Eternal Monarch is beautiful you just need to pay close attention. The portrayals were carefully played. Oh boy the details & the artistic contents are exceptional. At first I skipped but on closer look I got hooked & melted as the story unfold before my eyes. I love all aspects of it. I'm sorry if others find the story too complex & hard to understand. The drama is meant for intellectuals & to those who understand the beauty of close to reality fictions & mysteries. Hats off to the talented writers & excellent actors! Where can I find the book?❤
Despite the fact that I've watched hundreds of dramas from so many different cultures the king eternal monarch has a magical effect on me it was like a dream I would gladly repeat

Which one is better between this and Mr.Sunshine? Both are from the same writer btw. For me Mr.Sunshine are amazing. I stop The King Eternal because as u said, it was too complex at first. And other reason is because for me somehow it give the same vibes as Goblin (which also from the same writer).

I am finally feeling happy to see nice comments from people who actually enjoyed this drama as much as I did. I feel sad knowing koreans did not like this masterpiece. this drama was worth the 2 years wait for lee min ho. I actually loved the scene where tae ul fights her kidnappers in the kingdom of corea and then Lee gon shows up with his whole army to save his future queen. I don't know how many times I played that scene. I can't understand people who are saying that it was the same old cliche of a scene:( I am living for these fantasy korean dramas like goblin, lotbs, w, swdbs and now this. overall I loved loved loved this drama along with all the actors.
This is just my second kdrama, and I absolutely loved it, the story and acting was excellent, especially the ost of this show, was all very well done, can't believe this was not appreciated in Korea. KGE is ❤️

Lee Minho in every moment of "The King: Eternal Monarch" series when he appeared, he is very classy, noble, attractive and beautiful. How beautiful the way he says the word I love you and his tears seem so real.💫
It was an excellent series, every actor played their part so well. Lets not forget the actor who was his unbreakable sword, who had to play two parts for the longest time. He was brilliant. I watched it again just recently and it was still enthralling.
Oh you are so spot on. This drama is one that is timeless & I've watched several times & will rewatch again soon. The makers of Goblin (Kim Go-eun) created this drama & it shows in the actors & just everything. Kim Kyung-nam who played a dual role is so very talented & so enjoyable in other roles. Woo Do-hwan is another to watch, his acting is impeccable. Lee Min Ho though, this was his comeback role after injury & he was flawless.

@@buddybarry890 yes , and the good thing about lmh is that he likes to learn, if you noticed he acted with top actrecess like jung ji hyun, kim hee sun and son ye jin, so he learned a lot from them, and i think thanks to that he improved and now that he is acting with kge they acted well together, i think they are learning from each other.

@@lilynoor3637 Thanks for the recommendations, actually i knew about this movies because i used to follow a youtuber who review asian movies(idk why i didnt check at least one of her), but i have seen all her dramas(that are only 3 with this ) and with that i can say she is great.I personally think that (at least in korea) actors get better when they are in movies, because they dont have restriction like in dramas(this is changing ofc like in "the world of the married" ,but still they have limitations in what they can show, and not only actors are limited this also apply for the director, writter,escenography,etc), i think that in movies they can express more without thinking " what would people think about this", and ofc korean cinema is a "boom" now thanks to parasite so people around the world expect a lot from this cinema. One thing i know is that it was always recognise as one of the best asian countries to make movies with deep themes and ofc horror(which is not great anymore but thats another story). I have never watched a kdrama where it hit me so differently. The way this show makes me feel is so unreal. Their love was not rushed and so realistic. It makes it even more heart wrenching that even though they belong in two different worlds, their love still remains so strong. I will never forget TKEM even after the finale! I have never liked all the OSTs in one show before. I have to say if Korea isn’t going to appreciate this brilliant piece of work, then we INTERNATIONAL fans will! I literally sobbed when watching the show because I don’t want it to be over.

The reason this show have been promoted via Netflix because it’s obviously meant to be an international drama, with all the sponsored international products shown in the drama multiple times it’s planned to attract the worldwide foreign investors and to promote tourism and Korean show business industry most specifically film industry. So don’t get bothered with domestic rating, it wasn’t for them. 👏
Well yeah i think so too. It is meant to be an international drama. That's why they actively promote it for Netflix instead of SBS. And if it's targeting the domestic, i'm pretty sure they don't want to release this drama on SBS or any other public network. TvN will be the best choice for Kim Eun Sook's drama.

So agree with you Mr. Rico, I have same observation as you have, the very fact that the drama is streamed outside Korean TV network and Cables, the placement of huge product commercials and by the cultural highlights in the Kdrama mostly like to intend to promote tourism industry and somehow to encourage investors, plus, another factor, as far as i can see, the OST's in this drama are mostly well-known singers in South Korea, Thus, one way of promoting their talents as well, as to its entertainment industry and not just simply the drama itself.
I am not a Korean, but, I have been rooting and have been watching Korean dramas and movies for several years now. I may say, this drama TKEM is quite unique and catches my attention in so many aspects, maturity of the leads in romance, the deepest emotions, the science-fiction aspects, the flow of the story telling, the essence of every single details that at some point every mature individual are able to understand, to comprehend. This is not just a simple love-romance story, this is a mature level one of romance, Thus, the creativity of the writer to come up into this one-of-a-kind ideas in drama, this is something that not all any ordinary writer can do.
Me, as among the viewers, i've always respect and give credit to everyone's great efforts in this drama. they have invested so much of their very best, to give satisfaction, enlightenment and entertainment to everyone of us, as viewers, if we are happy by watching, they are more so happy, its because, in their utmost efforts, they have done so well and so very hard.

Tae Eul is strong but she’s more fragile than Lee Gon. the last thing i want is a sad ending for Lee Gon & Tae Eul. i can’t imagine them not being together. Lee Gon truly needs Tae Eul by his side. I'm watch kdrama since longtime this first time I see so much criticizing .There are lots of actual flop dramas of some famous actors but I don't see this much of hate for them. I don't understand why people are hate this much , for me this is masterpieces .After longtime this best drama I've watch and I know story is not for everyone but it is really interesting if you watch it carefully .This drama is not actually failure maybe it is not hit in korea but doesn't mean it is failed , because there are lots of people wait every week and watch this drama and it is actually internationally hit.But after every episode kmedia/ web pages put negative article about it ? The King - Eternal Monarch is beautiful you just need to pay close attention. The portrayals were carefully played. Oh boy the details & the artistic contents are exceptional. At first I skipped but on closer look I got hooked & melted as the story unfold before my eyes. I love all aspects of it. I'm sorry if others find the story too complex & hard to understand. The drama is meant for intellectuals & to those who understand the beauty of close to reality fictions & mysteries. Hats off to the talented writers & excellent actors! Where can I find the book?❤

I actually loved the scene where tae ul fights her kidnappers in the kingdom of corea and then Lee gon shows up with his whole army to save his future queen. I don't know how many times I played that scene. I can't understand people who are saying that it was the same old cliche of a scene:(

Oh you are so spot on. This drama is one that is timeless & I've watched several times & will rewatch again soon. The makers of Goblin (Kim Go-eun) created this drama & it shows in the actors & just everything. Kim Kyung-nam who played a dual role is so very talented & so enjoyable in other roles. Woo Do-hwan is another to watch, his acting is impeccable. Lee Min Ho though, this was his comeback role after injury & he was flawless.

@@buddybarry890 yes , and the good thing about lmh is that he likes to learn, if you noticed he acted with top actrecess like jung ji hyun, kim hee sun and son ye jin, so he learned a lot from them, and i think thanks to that he improved and now that he is acting with kge they acted well together, i think they are learning from each other.

@@lilynoor3637 Thanks for the recommendations, actually i knew about this movies because i used to follow a youtuber who review asian movies(idk why i didnt check at least one of her), but i have seen all her dramas(that are only 3 with this ) and with that i can say she is great.I personally think that (at least in korea) actors get better when they are in movies, because they dont have restriction like in dramas(this is changing ofc like in "the world of the married" ,but still they have limitations in what they can show, and not only actors are limited this also apply for the director, writter,escenography,etc), i think that in movies they can express more without thinking " what would people think about this", and ofc korean cinema is a "boom" now thanks to parasite so people around the world expect a lot from this cinema. One thing i know is that it was always recognise as one of the best asian countries to make movies with deep themes and ofc horror(which is not great anymore but thats another story).
Ofc kge is still young and still have a long way to go, i always say that you never stop learning.
I really like that lmh and kge act together , i have the feeling that they learned a lot in this drama. I hope the best for them and ofc the rest of the cast, hope to see them in different projects, i know they will get even better from what they are today.
