My must-have are the zippered plastic bags that sheets and comforters come in. I've struggled with moths off and on for years, so my yarn lives in space bags most of the time, but the zippered bags are great as project bags.

For me it's a yarn ring. I got one custom made to my size when I returned to crochet after several years away, and was having trouble with maintaining tension creating my first garment. It definitely helped prevent hand pain as I developed my personal tension. I still think it's good for my hands and tension, but also I'm so used to it, it just feels weird when I don't use it. The other must-have is my mom, and her decades of experience. I actually didn't learn from her, I was mostly self taught while living away. But when I got stuck and had questions, she was my resource! We do different types of projects, I prefer garments and accessories and she does blankets mostly, but we always bounce ideas off each other and give me suggestions. Having a crochet buddy is amazing and priceless when it's mom!

One of my favorite crochet must haves is videos like yours! I have crocheted since the 1970s when I was a teenager and in the past several years wonderful tutorials have made me realize that I can make lots of different things that I really had never considered. I like all the new techniques to make the crochet pieces even look nicer. I never thought that I could create my own patterns, but I’ve realized I can, even though I don’t have any for sale. I have a RUclips channel and I’m on TikTok to share things that I am making and share patterns that I have found by other creators. I can tell by your videos that you like to share, too! Thank you again for all the hard work you put in these videos! 🥰

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a hand massager. I certainly can follow along on the tulip theory. 💖 My daily go-to are my rubber tipped bobbypins as markers. I've been using them for years. A few are slid on my kitchen placemat so I can easily find one. I do all my work at my kitchen table. I had a friend ask me the other day, "Why do you have bobbypins attached to your placemat?" She thought it a was a great idea too!!

My favorite go-to tool is my dyi ergonomic hook(s). I am partial to tapered metal hooks, particularly boye brand hooks. However, I have arthritis and tendinitis in my hands, and I needed a wider grip and shorter shift. I use 2-3 beauty blenders to provide a wider, softer grip and to shorten the shaft. I just purchase beauty blenders from my local dollar store, make a hole up the center of each one, use a very small hook and insert the hook of choice. No glue, etc, necessary. Blenders can be easily replaced as needed. I also can't live without my yarn ball winder and yarn swift.

I save solid pieces of foam included in shipped boxes for blocking boards. Sometimes I spray sides with Gorilla spray adhesive to make wider boards. Another thing I LOVE are the blocking combs. They come in 2 different sizes (short ones have about 4 teeth and larger ones have about 8 teeth). They were a game changer for me (from Amazon).

For the blocking- I never thought of using those mats! You might want to consider when you're checking prices to compare prices with exercise floor mats as well. They have exercise floor mats that come in squares like that and you might be able to get those on sale or cheaper just because they're plain and they don't have fancy little letters on them and such.

I have a large round wooden salad bowl that holds my tapestry needles, a few stitch markers, tape measure, scissors, and holds the ball of yarn I'm using (or balls). I had holes drilled in side to run yarn through if I'm using more than one strand of yarn at a time. These bowls can easily be found at thrift stores. I've always wound my yarn into balls (?) and wrap a rubber band around them to keep from unraveling.

I would have to say that the red tulip etimo are my musts. The ratio of -raw- the aluminum hook to handle fits my hand perfectly. I have purchased them over time, as I need them for a project. My stitch markers are spiral types and use them more now that I know what I am doing 😂. I use a large binder clip attached to any long chain so that I do not twist it. I use blunt scissors so I don’t stab myself or the sofa😅. All my crochet and knitting tools are in clear plastic bags that are actually a cosmetics bag set on Amazon. They nest, but of course I store them apart, organized by what they are. Books on crochet. Can’t live without them. Looking forward to hearing about or reading comments on the hand massager! I have foam blocking mats with grid lines and large gym mats for larger projects, however last week I received my order for one of those wooden blocking boards with multiple holes and pins for different sized granny squares. I am absolutely thrilled with it, as I no longer have to pin and measure everything out, as I always find that my granny squares are in between the grid sizes. I adjust to the size I want, steam the squares on the foam mats first and place on the board. The best thing is I can block around 15 DK weight granny squares at once, as the pins are quite long. I ordered the 29 cm square board, so that it was good for both smaller and larger squares.

I have been crocheting for many years and recently discovered Clover Soft Touch hooks and I love them, especially the 4.5mm. I gravitate to that hook for most of my projects. I have the Clover stitch markers in large and medium. I prefer the large - easier to use with arthritic hands. Having an iPad is on my bucket list! I agree with some of the other comments - RUclips is invaluable - but a 4.5mm hook, cup of tea, and murder mysteries on BritBox are a must have for me!! I've never tried a hand massager, and never thought about getting one. I'll be curious to see what others have to say. Sounds like a great idea to me though. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

This isn't much of a tool, really, but what comes to mind for me is my mini notebook. It helps me take notes as I experiment with different patterns, yes, but what makes it can't-live-without tier for me is it's magnetic closure. I mainly use tiny metal tapestry needles for weaving in ends and I can just stick'em on the magnet so I don't lose them in the clutter of my working table

My tape measure, scissors, stitch markers, sharp tip darning needle & small accurate scales are my absolute must haves! Lots of other fun stuff that I enjoy too. RUclips crochet channels are also a must have as I've learned a heap watching others crocheting projects. I use a lot of rubber bands to go around the ball band of a leftover ball of yarn, so that the band stays snuggly on the yarn for identification in the future. I bought a nursing pillow to help with neck and posture strain and it works wonders. I’ve also purchased the Lifepro hand massager. My local yarn shop owner swears by it and would sell them if allowed. I’m still trying to decide if it helps or if the weather the day after I’ve used it is to thank for my hands feeling good for the day. 😊.
