The short answer on legacy app support: assume "yes," but not always. The main issues Android has are when there's copy protection involved, as a lot of apps written for Android pre-3.0 have to have protection support written by the platform. Major apps like Netflix aren't really issues, but you'll occasionally run into some movie or TV app that won't work. In my experience, Android 4.0 and a 720p screen don't usually create app support problems.
I have had One x for about 3 weeks now, and my only complain is the battery. When playing games, the battery are being drained majorly, and same with 720p movies/videoes. and one thing i really miss is the function to uninstall preinstalled apps, or stopping services from running, and activate them manually next time i need it. (those apps starts automaticly later witch i hate)
I have the One S (basically has half the memory and dual instead of quad core) and I still prefer it to the s3 & nexus. I use it for work, diary, client tracking, training videos, pictures and as an MP3 which with the Beats Audio makes a mahoosive difference for me. Love it!
I think it allows for automatic uploads of pictures and such, but I don't see how any of its features would present a problem to someone like you. Any features can be disabled or not used, so you shouldn't fret.
Unless you actually own one I wouldn't say its cheap. I own the s3 and my girlfriend has the One x. Its no question that the One x has superb build quality but the "cheap" design of the s3 doesn't feel cheap at all, its very sleak. I also like that you can remove the battery and add memory to it if you need. She seems to have problems with the 1800 mAh battery in the One x while my s3 easily gets me through the day with 40% left.
Great review. I'm saddened by the average camera though, and I don't know if I want another sense phone, but that hardware is going to be hard to beat...
If T-Mo USA gets the quad-core version I might reconsider upgrading, but I know that would never happen as T-Mo hasn't been able to bless they're customers with a relevant android handset since the first Nexus (which I have on display at my apartment) and still they weren't able to obtain it as they're own product. So I'll keep my eyes focused on that new Asus 700 sires tablet.
I tried this phone and, yeah, first thing I noticed, I really dislike the app switching menu. Probably nothing a custom ROM can't fix though, and to me, it's the best device out there. I just can't justify the cost compared to some other phones, especially since contract prices around here have skyrocketed. Hopefully the price will drop soon...
I bought the Galaxy Nexus because of the specs and the removable battery, and I don't like the trend of having a non-removable battery, especially on 4G phones, I'm usually away from a charger most of the day, and need to be able to swap batteries before the phone dies
hi everyone, i got some questions 1.in GPU performance, does AT&T htc one x, lag on high intensive games? 2. In Google PlayStore, is the adreno GPU have lesser compatible games compare to Tegra 3 GPU ?
The nexus 4 is 9.1 mm thin and the one x is 8.9 mm thin. There's only a 0.2 mm difference in thickness which is 0.0078 inches thicker :P Hope that helped. :) (They are pretty much the same check out the nexus 4 and one x sites for more detail.)
True. true. One X would be a beast on a stock rom, (like CM10). But One X and the S3 is both "outdated" now. Droid DNA and Optimus G already set new standards both in screen quality and in being a powerhouse.
The Lumia 900 is a beautiful device, but I know I would get bored with the limited Windows Phone experience. As the guys from the Vergecast said, the official Windows Phone Twitter application was last updated in 2010. That alone makes me wary of Windows Phone.
@SHORBAGY15 HTC One X! This phone is said to have a higher ppi than the Galaxy S3! And the screen is perfect! Good performance too! Definitely the One X
At the end of the day everyone has their own opinion. I dont understand why people argue over someone else's thoughts... Their just phones people. I personally rooted my HTC one x because the Stock Rom was too buggy for me. But know with jelly bean on it, I'm loving it all over again. I think it's the best phone for me! Doesn't matter if others do, I'm the one who bought it so it doesn't matter what people think. And if you like samsung, all the better to you.
Yea, I would've loved to see HTC take the market instead of Samsung. Their products seem much more thought through and geared towards quality. They also comply much better with Google's plans for the future of android.
That's just the cycle of electronics. People think that the best phone today is the best phone forever... eventually things are upgraded and updated and your phone becomes old
I cant see myself wanting higher "build quality". I prefer a lighter phone always. I don't care at all if its plastic. Plastic makes it lighter, doesn't dent or crack, and feels smooth. My HTC Vivid has a metal back, has thick plastic, and is pretty heavy compared to most phones and it's metal back is a heat magnet.
Exept that not many of the good games are available yet, the phone is smooth in every way, exept watching fullscreen youtube videoes in 720p when in desktop mode in stock and dolphin browser. The phone is the fasterst i have had since optimus 2x, but lacks some responsiveness when typing in messages.
It is not a wannabe HTC. IT IS AN HTC. It is the DADDY of all phones out there. If there was no Motorola, there would be no iTrash. If there was no Sony to invent the Li-ion battery, iTrash would be 4" thick. If there was no Samsung and/or Sharp and/or LG, iTrash would be without a screen and processors. I could go on about it. All that Apple gave to the public through iTrash was the body and the UI. That's it. HTC Forever BITCHES!
i can understand what you are trying to say, but taking s3 as an prime example, it did well in reviews but samsung's smart-as-hell advertising [using the london olympics as a springboard] they got loads of attention from the conusmers.Sure enough, they get 10 million sales in an month's time.
Sense really sucks. I hate it, even this one. Otherwise, this phone is absolutely fantastic, but I'm waiting for the S III. That's going to be one incredible piece of technology. Stop arguing about iOS vs. Android. If you can't tell that Android is far more modern and that ICS has a better interface with more customization by now than any iOS device, you're blind. Period.
I've had the One X and sold it to get a S3. Sense UI is just to slow and "ugly" to me, dont like it one bit. I agree on the better build quality of the One X, but i think that the S3 has an edge with the removable back cover, even though its made of plastic.
Still holds up as one of the best looking phones ever
I remember this phone. This was my baby
He said 4.7 was to big. 5 years later 5.7 feels compact.
@@Slixbrah oh yeah
Wow people are responding a comment from 3 years ago. I don’t even remember making it.
2025 here - 6.3 is considered "small".
@@VictorRiley yeah I’m 6.9 now lol. And for some reason that feels compact.
Man, take me back to these days
still an amazing design when I look back today...
Looks ugly compared to the Evo 4g LTE tbh

2018 anyone?

Got to love the eMate in the background. That phone with the Newton OS - now that would be cool.
Why it is so low quality video? Where is 1080p??
Such a great review! please do not dislike this video because of the phone.
I have the One S (basically has half the memory and dual instead of quad core) and I still prefer it to the s3 & nexus. I use it for work, diary, client tracking, training videos, pictures and as an MP3 which with the Beats Audio makes a mahoosive difference for me. Love it!
Thanks for the reply man! Definitely appreciated!
2019 anyone?

Still an amazing phone... after all of these years
You still alive ?
How is the one handed useability?
Great review. I'm saddened by the average camera though, and I don't know if I want another sense phone, but that hardware is going to be hard to beat...
if the battery thing is sealed, where is the sim card inserter?
Gosh I miss this phone !
i remember this phone and tegra 3 chipset good old days...
get the one x now or wait till the new iPhone comes out?!
Truly awesome phone, well done HTC.
I'd advise people to wait a bit for the S4/Krait model though, it handily beats Tegra 3 and everything else out.
If T-Mo USA gets the quad-core version I might reconsider upgrading, but I know that would never happen as T-Mo hasn't been able to bless they're customers with a relevant android handset since the first Nexus (which I have on display at my apartment) and still they weren't able to obtain it as they're own product. looks nice. I still like picking up my wife's EVO so I know well that HTC makes alluring hardware.
around 1:45 He mentions how bad Sense makes the multitask switcher but nowadays, both iOS and Android P do it this way lol, time is a flat circle
one question (as i am a new android user). will all the apps on gs2 work on one x or some of them won't?
I tried this phone and, yeah, first thing I noticed, I really dislike the app switching menu. Probably nothing a custom ROM can't fix though, and to me, it's the best device out there. I just can't justify the cost compared to some other phones, especially since contract prices around here have skyrocketed. Hopefully the price will drop soon...
stop hating. Android is all about options. If you don't like the One X, get the S3. If you don't want the S3, get the One X.
God what a gorgeous phone. Wish there is a stock ICS version. I really hate sense but Love stock ICS UI
where does the menu button go for legacy apps?
The Verge always does good reviews outta the "Review Org" slot...Good review...Great Phone, still a lot to be optimized...
damm, this or the nexus 4, but no one has ever mentioned if the nexus 4 is thick.
will it blend?
This is the best looking phone back then

"4.7 too big" as I watch this on my 6.7 inch smartphone screen lol
My 1st andoid phone at 2013
Can you change the dock layout in androids? Like in this one there are only icons but in eg. evo 3d the dock has only 3 icons
cuz your iphone can run flash and stream videos while texting ,right?
This thing is huge... I think 4inch screens are the sweet spot between size of devices and screen real-estate....
The nexus 4 is 9.1 mm thin and the one x is 8.9 mm thin. There's only a 0.2 mm difference in thickness which is 0.0078 inches thicker :P Hope that helped. :) (They are pretty much the same check out the nexus 4 and one x sites for more detail.)
love ur cinematography

I has this, loved this phone so much!
Looks amazing, I cant wait for May 6th!
how much is this about?
You'll be able to find Stock ICS without any bugs pretty soon.
this sounds a bit like the gametrailers dotcom reviews. VERY good and clear to listen to.
It's quite nice looking except for the huge wart on the back (the camera). What's up with that?? XD
sad the sprint model does not look like this :/
Agree... All we need is vanilla android and this phone would be complete
That looks gorgeous. However, I think I will wait for the S3.
Very good question. Does anyone have the answer to this?
Is this on t mobile?
please reaspond

I miss that phone
can u take a pic and set it as ur home screen
Thinking about buying on now. Two year lag is great for prices.
get the s5
This phone was ahead of its time. iPhone wouldn't come near it with it's tiny dingy screen.

i rlly wanna see the NFC (Beam) working.. :)
Probably the only android phone I would take over my iPhone 4S, maybe Galaxy Nexus too... AMAZING PHONE :D
Replace rom?
Great products never NEED to draw in consumers... people just know it's the best
i dont get that can you please explain your thinking... sorry
Anyone know if the international version supports T-Mo's "4G" network?
Ok until Galaxy S3 murdered it.
I personally prefer the Nexus, but I can definitely see why many people think the Note is better... :D
It does have the ICS...
Looking back now .. HTC doesn't even make phones anymore
por que no lo hay traducido al español ?

S3 . its Quad Core + little new features.

htc decided to make few phones per year to maintain quality..and looks like they are doing a good job!
My favourite phones so far are the Htc one x, the iphone4s, and the Samsung galaxy s2

I think this phone will be better in term of quality but I'm not sure about the performance.

The screen sizes are the same...
Last time I checked the thing people care most about cameras are video and picture quality. That still goes to the iPhone
@jaakkoriikonen the s3 has a lot of overheating problems, which is why I won't get it.
Gorgeous phone. Just don't like the 3 buttons at the bottom! Gives the Lumia a run for its money...design wise.
