Source - Associated Press
make all jeepneys, Tricycles, bus transportation all EV....that is what Philipppines should do. Cut pollution, more tourism will flock to beautiful Philippines. DO NOT BUY EV SPECIALLY FROM CHINA....OMG!!! GOD HELP THE PHILIPPINES!
I think the better question for the host to ask is how much is dealer cost of the car and what is the margin and why, granted that EVs are tariff exempt in the Philippines?
Never mentioned about parts availability, repair centers and it's cost, and after sales services which are very important in a market where most people are not familiar with.
i hope with more evs euqates to reduction of fuel pricing long term so i can keep my gasoline car as thats d only reason why people switch to electrification is due to expensive fuel rates
I've seen these BYDs. Crappy suspension.
Correct! May mga issues ang BYD and it's all in the internet. Filipinos should stick with Japanese cars knowing Japan's workmanship and PH having good relations with Japan and Japanese assistance in PH development not just giving Filipinos a lot of work! Where is China in all of these?
interesting to see EV inventory piling up at dealers when interest wouldn't translate to purchase 👍👍👍 or, buyers just stop paying amortizations for their EV car loans.
Climate change is the biggest threat to humanity. Tariffs get passed along to consumers. Not a good idea. Bilyonaryo nang Pinas reverse engineer reliable ev and make it local. Ty
Which means mas mataas na bayad sa kuryente at possible lagi brown out.
EV is not a zero emission vehicle. The production of lithium batteries is one of the most destructive kind of mining in the world. The waste it produces is near equivalent to the waste estimated to be in a similar range at around 1.3+ million tonnes of carbon annually. Plus the mine tailings that are very toxic. The batteries needs to be changed every < 5 years. How much does it cost for a new set of EV batteries? Electricity production is not carbon neutral as well. Coal accounts to 36% of the world's electricity. In 2023, the world generated approximately 10,480 terawatt hours of electricity from coal, the highest figure in 24 years. Are we to increase coal firing power plants to meet the demands of EV charging? EV do not last more 10 years of its lifespan thereby contributing to more waste as you need to buy another EV
EVs are not for everybody. EVs are for people who dont go long trips and can charge their vehicles at home, and if you have solar panels, you can lower charging costs compare to gasoline/deisel. If you do both long and short trips, EVs can be your 2nd car partnered with a regular ICE engine car for the long drives.
BYD is synonymous to Burn Your Drive. Ayala is in a real low to have partnered with a failing brand. Lithium batteries are so dangerous that when they are exposed to air it will literally burn your drive. BYDs car frame is like tofu strong, body is paper thin. Why would I buy something that will be a headache in less than a year?

Not sure if Philippines manufacture its own car?

who in the Philippines are trained to fix complicated and very complex EV system....OMG!!! THIS IS GOING TO BANKRUPT PHILIPPINES!
Thats a precursor for the road projects of the govt. Induce demand is the name of this lucrative business.

kwentong barbero
EV is gonna be a headache on Philippine roads and the longevity of the battery and price for replacement.
Is the power grid here sa Pilipinas can support ev? Tapos puro baha pa.
haha delay ko muna, stick muna s gas... maybe after 10yrs mag electric ako pero syempre hindi made in chini bibilhin ko...
Hope it is target not forced adoption.
Kpag my battery failure sunog agad yung vehicle, ska yung battery replacement nya yung price pra k n din bumili ng 2nd hand n kotse..😂
Make more charging station

Yes, infra for EVs in the PH is still maturing.
EV are not for the philippines, lack of ev infrastructure, no plans
Pag summer kulang ang kuryente. Browout, dadagdag pa yan.
kwentong barbero na naman....
Mali title it should be 1st plug in hybrid under 1m.
Well ako satisfied sa mg4ev ko
NOT RELIABLE. NOT THERE YET AT ALL
NOT VERY DEPENDABLE, SPECIALLY DURING DISASTERS
EVs are a scam. Don't fall for it if you value your hard earned money.
Tpos sira agad. Made in China. 🤣🤣🤣
Support China. 😂
