This has that April 1st feel that someone in the dev team took seriously and actually ADDED it.
They went from "that's a fun joke" to "wait this would be a fun feature"
And the icing on the cake is Nintendo's patents collapsing just the other day
I was thinking the same thing. If this was announced 2 weeks ago, I would have muddy written this off as one. Plus, the fact we got a new announcer, this has April Fool's written all over it. 😂

Been waiting eons for co-op ship flying (ie. your friends can pilot or build in your corvette) and still no. When I see Pokemon battles but no obvious additions such as basic co-op, I lose faith.
@Judah_a_Man It has basic co-op. Co-op ship flying is not really necessary? That's kind of a you problem dawg.
@SlippyLegJones It still doesn't have co-op main quests. And I would argue that many agree with my co-op ship flying, at least enough to warrant the developer's time to add it (instead of things like Pokemon type battles)
Listen, I'm not trying to be difficult or ungrateful here, but there is a big enough community out there who have been begging for proper co-op for long now. I mean, there is a whole nother game who decided to compete with NMS and knew co-op ship flying was a big enough feature to center their entire game around it - Jump Space. It's kinda telling that enough people want it. And just stop for a second and think about it. A game about total freedom in space, almost anything you want, but you haven't thought about having a ship crew and giving freedom to utilize that ship how you want - as a CREW!!! Did I mention crew? And take on the main storyline or main missions together? Come on, my man. Yes, this is basic co-op. It just pisses me off that gaming nowadays prioritizes co-op as a feature last.
That's a brilliant way to take use of the pets in the game.

bro at this point, making No Man's Sky a game with a lot of random things makes me smile for some reason. Not only can they add it to No Man's Sky, but they can also tweak it so that the players say it's cool. So, if they ever make a game that makes that part stand out, they know how to implement it. Basically, No Man's Sky is their toy box.

This update is genuinely fantastic. Having a blast.
One bug that I've noticed (That I love!) is that on some planets with tornado storms, the tornado will grab you and fling you often to space and you wont even know because you're mid-battle. As soon as the battle ends and the camera flies to your current location and you're just a satellite to the planet. Truly hysterical

I think he has turned into a sawy pro-consumer marketing genius and developer. I am now fully conviced Sony tricked him into an early release with legalise and therefore he has decided to become the Bernie of video game development but instead of sharp words he uses genius gavedev craftsmensship.

I got into pets for a while and it was just too limiting. Not much interaction, they couldn't really do anything, I ended up just kinda forgetting about them. This is what the game needed to make them relevant, so it's pretty cool.
i would really love an improvement of fauna, the most interesting thing they do right now is look stupid and kill others.

Maybe it's not for everyone but I've played over 800 plus hours in NMS, and for me, this update has brought me back in the game bigtime. Giving me another reason to explore. And I've said it before, but this is a bold move to highlight creatures for a change. Don't forget peeps, this is all free, and even if it's not for you, there's always more updates, and we've probably got the 10th anniversary one still to come! 🎉

At this point I keep checking the anomaly’s computer back room to see if Light No Fire is in there, because I do not put it past Sean that he won’t just add it to NMS without telling anyone.
I'm genuinely afraid they're not going to have anything left to reveal in Light No Fire since they add everything to NMS.
@Gmrking91I don't really worry about that. These are all probably going to be features in Light no fire no doubt but I strongly believe it will be nothing like no man's sky, maybe even better.
@Gmrking91 thats on purpose, they are using NMS as a test bed for light no fire mechanics while adding new content at the same time and having the playerbase be alpha playtesters, its a really efficient way to juggle 2 games and im surprised more games dont do this
