The choir from Amsterdam is from a concert held in the esnoga. The nusach is pure Western Sephardic usage that is used still by Spanish and Portuguese Jews - in the US, it is the usage of Shearith Yisrael in New York and the Touro synagogue in Newport, Rhode Island. I am not sure why it is mixed with Ashkenazic usage. My family are Portuguese Jews.
Dang, the scene from Rabbi Jacob stopped just as it was getting to my favourite part ( when he's asked to read from the scrolland he hasn't got a clue)
@Canthetruthspeak In Israel and Ethiopia mainly ... but i guess they are a rather small group compared to european Ashkenazim and middle eastern jews ... however, in Israel they are common and found everywhere from israeli army to public and schools ...
These are Ashkenazim? They have been influenced by western traditions, especially the melody. The Sephardim or especially Mizrahim and Yemenites have very middle-eastern melody and their pronounciation is more inclining torwards Arabic since they lived in such a sorrounding.
Kol tov! This is qutie sad what people perceive as being Jewish, when they do not have enough intellect to know the difference between a movie, and a real shul experience! If this fool had any knowledge, he'd know that you do not shoot video's on Shabbat, especially in a frum synagogue. what a Joke!
