Hi Chris. Interesting stuff you bring to us.👍👏👏👏 It widens my ability to play more colourfull jazzguitar. Thanks for that. Nice guitar from Daniel Slaman. I know him very well . Long time ago he repaired a crack in my Gibson L5 Love the sound of the CC pickup. Cheers from the Netherlands Albertinho
Very instructive and concise as always. From the first second to the last one, you are always focusing on music which is perfect for your audience. Are you planning to show us other useful grips in the near futur ? And other chord melodies ? Have a nice day, Chris.
Great Chris, super useful and well explained . I'll be trying to get this into my gig tonight! Funnily enough we have a new tune based around a minor 215 in C 😊 Cheers 🍻 🍻
Youve added something truly new to my playing - thank you - did I miss the part where you defined? What a grip is I’ve never heard that time. I’m assuming it’s a left-hand position that is movable. As long as you’re gripping it in the correct way it’s called a grip.
Thanks Rick! So the natural minor scale has a b6, but the min 6th chord has a natural 6 (you're referring to as #6). The natural 6 is present in the dorian mode and the melodic minor scale, so both of those scales can work with a min6 chord.
This is the first RUclips/Patreon lesson I have done on grips. I do teach all the grips to my private students and plan on doing more video lessons on this topic in the future.

Absolutely! Thanks Tom!

Yes, I do 2 posts a month
Always 5 star lessons and videos. Your basic explanation of tough concepts is the best out there. Almost time for another mountain getaway.

Thanks Paul! Glad it was useful!
Nice job. Another way to get the 2-5 is moving the shape up a minor third, in this case, the Ab to B (same result but easier for me to remember).
Thanks Jim!
Thanks Jim!
Yes, you can do the same using the G altered scale. Start first lick on D note and create the same lick staring on the F note. Sounds great.
Thanks for the grips Chris! I have learned so much from your lessons!

Thank you - gGreat lesson Chris (I never really understood why the minor 6th has a #6).
