that was hilarious. dude has jokes. but also - he is a top tier amateur not only bc of his course management/strategy/way of the player but also bc he is consistent ball striker and roller of the putter. #bigfacts
I totally agree with the way of the playa. But you can hit a 1 iron where almost no pros would even dare hit such a hard long iron. Clearly you have special, next-level skills to be doing this, which I think helps keep your handicap far lower than the average golfer. But again, your course management strategy and shot selection is legit. Props, love the channel and I'm learning. Had some fun shaming my driver-only buddy's this summer with my straight-as-an-arrow 7 wood that is a par-maker when my tee game breaks down.
Yea, I saw that video of him saying that. I do think that, for most armature golfers, it is something to strive for. As it give a more consistent result. I think it's one thing to know how to do it and then back off of it than, never having achieved the consistency of being able to do it with regularity. As the quote says, "when I'm flushing it..." which would indicate that, not taking a divot, is not always the case. It's just on certain days when his swing behaves that way. At least, that's how I have come to understand that quote. We'd really need a lot more context to take anything meaningful, as a weekend hacker, away from that comment. He had already achieved world dominance when he made that statement.
I’ve watched this eight times. “Comfortable shot” is a worthy mantra for any golfer. I played a links course on the beach in south Texas with 20+ mph winds. My son in law beat me by one stroke. I hit comfortable shots, kept it on short grass (mostly) and was good from 100 in. He can outdrive me by 100 yards.
I love this course. It was the windiest day of my trip, too. I think I stood on the range and hit around 5 dozen knock-down 6 irons because I knew I'd need that shot.
Dude, I had a pretty eye opening experience today. Because of an ankle injury, I have basically been on the couch for a month. Only a week or so ago could I sort of move around a little bit, after nearly 8 weeks. Today I decided to get back to the golf course, even though I can't put weight on my right foot. My plan was just to hit little half swing punch/stinger type shots. Because of my physical handicap and limitations, I found out on the first hole that I could pretty much only hit the ball from right to left. So that eliminated all the trouble on the right. I would max hit a 6 iron off the tee (about 165m). Never in my life (I'm a 2 handicap) have I hit that many fairways and that many greens in regulation, nor has golf been so stressfree. My putting and shortgame was very rusty as I hadn't touched a club in 8 weeks, but my game tee to green was so damn tight. It was an absolute revelation. Just hit whatever club works for you right now.
Good that Nelson took some time out of running Rwanda to give you some golf advice. Did you know he also wrote the great country song "On the Road Again"? What a man.
Matter in Chief, The Scotland Series is a stroke of genius. And you Put up in stead o shut up. I have broken 100 the last three rounds Mattster. My thanks. I enjoy the game now no matter how I play. And it’s the easiest skill to acquire yet even with someone uploading putting out of your mind onto RUclips, people will not listen to It and free their minds. You don’t need power or muscles. You just need practice and consciousness. 95/100 golfers won’t even go hit 20 one footers in the cup in a row. Is the only skill we’re able to ALL be as good as a pro. You don’t even need distance optimized equipment.
Love the vids Matty. Would love to see a series where you break your own rules. Your content sets a good example for high HC golfers but I think it's time for you to commit to the "riskier" clubs you could hit rather than staying in your safe zone. Will shoot higher scores at first but as you put more tools in your bag I truly think you'll go lower than ever. Big drives and lovely soft chips from the fringe. The people love a character arc in any story. ❤
I can't believe i am watching you play Crail! I am heading over there in July. My favorite youtube channel(makes so much sense) and hopefully one of my favorite golf courses moving forward. Also scored a tee time on the Old Course. 17 is keeping me up at night LOL.
Just scored my PB after trying to break 100. 92 scoring 40pts. I attribute this success to Matty Boom Boom's advice and Dr Bob's "Golf is not a game of perfect". Two birdies including a chip in. The way of playa ✅
I feel like there are a lot of testimonies on the channel.. but listen up playas. Between getting new clubs and watching Matty boom boom I have gone from a silly goose scoring 100 to a bizzoss breaking 80 with my best score of even par today. Waddalife.
If a 1 iron is a comfy club for you playa then you are just different than most. For me realizing that I can still score well if I have a bad opening hole or spray in a dud every once in a while. Key is to just let it go by the time you get to the next shot and realize grip and rip can get you in a lot of trouble
Do you ever just play rounds hitting the clubs you struggle with to improve your game with those clubs. And when do you choose to or not too? Matt your shits the best. Don’t ever stop. Nothing gets me more hyped. I will drop below 100 this year.
I do think there's truth to "get it as close to the hole as possible" because it's better to be in first cut of rough than 50 yds further from the fairway, but where that advice fails is that they're considering those as the two possibilities, not the other options where penalty strokes are incurred (and which are more realistic options for handicap golfers).
Mostly to sell things you cant have nuance. Because majority of people need to be told do this for this result. Otherwise they would have to think on their own. And then… no profit
The pants in this video have no back pockets, the Waddaplay label above the right pocket and split cuffs 😎😎. Are they available? I only see label above back pockets.
Why would i or anyone play 7200 yard courses? If anyone is playing those courses they should be scratch handicap from those tees and focus on position of the tee shot. They will be proficient with every club if they are handicapped at scratch on those tees. Anyone over scratch does not need to play 7200 yard tees. It’s pointless

What if I'm most comfortable with driver? What if I'm comfortable with everything but my long irons? I totally agree, I'm kinda a brainiac and will keep trying to figure something out rather than trying something else, as you said. If I'm struggling with my low shots, I keep hitting low shots. Kinda stubborn, like an autistic kid who can't stop until he figures out the puzzle. That analogy describes my entire golf life. I actually probably am on the spectrum. It's in my family. I'm a -2 handicap btw, been playing for 19 years.
I do kind of hate my gap wedge. It's weird, cuz my PW is hardly any different, just a few degrees, and I do great with my 56°, which is actually a different brand of club.
@@GolfSidekick shit thought there was only one round left. So only thought one round dropping off and one on. I have to rework based 3 scores coming off.
