    Thank you for taking your time ! Learned a lot. My 2yr old hit my screen. Turns on still. Was worried of how complicated it was to replace the screen. Looks pretty easy! Wasn't sure if I could just project the screen and try to retrieve my files that way.

      Take your time and you can do it. Keep track off all parts as you remove them. Hardest part is getting the replacement screen. The manufacturer website did not offer a replacement so you have to Google the screen number for other sources.

    I have just taken apart a 24-cb0214 and was almost the same as this. Be very careful prying on the plastic and screen. I was able to do this almost all by hand except the initial prying to get to the screws. After than all I did was a vertical pry from the base or feet side and slowly moved up and around the screen with my fingers behind the screen. A few clicks later everything freed up to show me the ribbon cables and the ram under a cover that I was gonna change. Thanks for the insight

    Why does no one ever show the actual screen replacement? Every single video, including yours, shows disassembly, then simply states, " ... then just put it together."' or something similar, and magically, the screen is back in. If it were only so simple!! I was working on a 24-cb0017c and ended up here by virtue of it's similarity. The screen did not pop back in neatly, and while trying to get it fitted back in, it cracked. Is there a particular technique for these? Should I pop in the top and allow the screws to pull the rest down? Should I place face down and push the back onto the screen? It seems most methods put undue stress on one side or another and will cause breakage. This is screen #2, and at a cost of $250+ for each, I'm a little gun shy. Any input would be appreciated.

      Hi Chris, Its been a while but I did not experience any issues with placement of the new screen or I would have mentioned it. If I may offer a suggestion; face down, insert it at the top first where there are less attachments, then place in the bottom. Don't force it.
      Considering you are already past screen 2, I understand your reluctance to try again.

      @Andrew's Notes Thank you for your reply. I have never had this kind of issue with any screen before, so wondered what I was doing wrong. Maybe just bad luck, but I have another screen on the way and feel I can use all the help I can get! Thanks for the suggestions.

      @@Andrewsnotes1 An update that may save someone else in the future the grief I went through and the money spent .... I was originally working with an HP 24-cb0017c that had a broken screen (#1). I had an HP 24-0007c (#2), that had a good screen and figured I would just swap them and keep the better computer running, right? Broke that screen installing it into #1. Got 2 new screens, some $500 later and decided to practice before diving in. I marked all the existing breaks with a white grease pencil so I could see if I put any new breaks in. I did. LOTS of them. I then - finally! - noticed that the black plastic backing to each screen was very slightly different ... just different enough so that one will never fit properly in the other!! The moral of the story is that though the screen may be the same and they look the same, NOTHING else is the same.

      Also there’s a way to see the exact reference for the screen without taking apart ? I know I will have to do it in order to fix it but just to look for the screen before opening/ also there is a generic one ? Thanks again

      Screen was replaced. Battery was replaced as they fail after a few years and the BIOS has problems loading its settings.

      Unfortunately, you have to open the machine to see the part number of the screen.

    any recommendations for not crushing the screen when I reinstall it... I no longer repair all in ones unless it's a broken screen replacement cause I've crushed a screen before.

    • @Andrewsnotes1
      @Andrewsnotes1  6 месяцев назад

      I haven't experienced that when installing this one. I guess just be really careful and gentle. Make sure you have the correct replacement. Different versions may have small changes in the mounting around the screen.

    I tried ordering a replacement screen and accidentally bought the SSA3 variant instead of the SSE3 variant, do you have any idea if that will still work? Just in case the seller decides to not cancel the order for me
