Hey Pete! Subbed!! I've been using Line 6 units/boards since the POD 2.0 for like the last 15 years.. Where I play we cannot have stage volume and there are no isolated cabinets for amps, so i have been a very loyal dedicated user of Line 6 units. It makes me happy to see someone such as yourself give some credit to how awesome the Helix is. Just a quick tip, while you are fiddling around with trying to find the right cabinet/mic, use the looper so it can play on its own while you tweak it to your likings! Cheers!
Hi Spike... Thank you for subbing... Units like this are great for all the in ear gigs.. Great tip with the looper, haven't yet used this so much so any tips are welcome.. Best P
Thanks for this video. I recently got a Helix, and now I'm faced with having gear that does more than I do. You make good sound, Pete, so I appreciate both the "how to navigate the gear" tutorail, but also being shown a process to make a good chain.

I've watched several long videos to get familiar.... but nobody did what YOU are doing...... thanks! now...... This is the most useful Line 6 Helix video on RUclips. No endless yammering or metal mania. I've had my LT for a very long time but have been too intimidated by its learning curve to commit to it but I watched this video and created my preset while following along. The very next night I played a full set using nothing but my Helix and an FRFR cab for one of the best shows I've ever had. Much thanks, Pete! P.S. Would love to see an update video showing some new tricks and advice.
In the market for multi effects modeler and this is the video I needed. Makes a ton of sense and will literally model my analog pedalboard once I buy this. Thanks for great information.
That’s what I like to see , technology made for dummies, the best video on the helix so far. It’s great to see someone go through what may be easy for most people but confusing for others . Let’s get the basics down first. Thanks for this great video and keep expanding on others features of the helix. I’m old school and have a hard time getting into new technology.
I just got the helix a couple of days ago and I have been having problems with creating a preset even after watching quite a few videos yours was the most detailed and I had no problem creating one after watching it thanks
Thanks for demo-ing a good clean tone with the amp/cab sims. I been hunting through demos for several hours. This is the first I have found, so thank you.
I've had my helix for a few weeks now, I like the effects and amps ok but the routing and versatility are where it really shines. If you can think it, it will probably do itSnap shots are very cool also as you can change any parameter on any block per snapshot so its like being able to not just turn off and on effects but also change settings slightly or massively - crazy amount of control
Peter very helpful, will do my first preset on the Helix now….using my Powercab Plus. Need a direct amp in the room sound to cut though the band…Cheers

would the best idea to start your programming be to insert the amp model to run the effects through while choosing them? may be simple, and i'm considering going this way for small gigs where my valve amp can be left out and my much larger pedal board. just know i'm going to get a headache with the programme side of it.
I recently bought the Helix. I am looking for tutorials. I see you did assign effects like reverb etc. to footswitches. You assigned one to te first one (under left). On my Helix the display shows "bank" and I can just according the manuel the middle 8 footswitches assign to pedels. Did they change something? I like your videos.
I don't know how you can even see his display. But if you go into Global Settings, you can choose how the footswitches will display. You can have all 8 for effects, 4 for effects, four for presets within the bank, presets/snapshots, all snapshots, etc. and also decide which will be on the top or bottom row. You can also change the type of display on the fly with the mode switch. I use a default display of snapshots/presets and the mode switch will tap for all effects, press and hold for more effects blocks, if needed.
Sjaak Strik use the giant cheat sheet and lots of utube tutorials out there. Don’t fall down a rabbit hole with tweaking. Make it simple. And the guy above or below answered your question. You’ll get it. Is it as good as a tube amp with a few great pedals? No but it’s fun to fool with. Not selling my amps for this or Kemper or anything though. Keep them both. I have the rack and the one thing I like is the giant screen. You can barely see the Kemper’s. But no power in this. They would sell more if they just added power. Just my opinion. And new colors should be in all helix products. Like the gray.
