We used a Hexenhaus from #IKEA to make a rainbow house for a little bunny rabbit.
We used plenty of our favorite meringue puffs and decorated to our liking.
The meringue puffs are not heavy, so decorating is a breeze.
Recipe
Put in melted candy in the cookie to make your glass window.
1.Crush candy of your favorite color.
2.Spread an oven sheet on the top plate and place the cookies. Spread the crushed candy into the cookie's opening that will make the window.
3.Place in an oven preheated to 170 ℃ and bake until melted.
4.Make sure that the candy is cooled and hardened. Peel off the cookie from the oven sheet.
Make meringue puffs （for 3 top plates） 1.Beat the egg white for two eggs (about 70g) , while warming in hot water of about 50 ℃. If you have cream of tartar, put it in. Heaping 3 spoonfuls to one egg white(about 35g). 2.Add sifted white sugar (twice the amount of your egg whites), and beat further. Make firm meringue. 3.Mix in edible food color ,and make color meringue. 4.Put 3(the colored meringue) into a piping bag ,and press out to a top plate covered with an oven sheet. 5.Turn off the oven heated to 150 ℃ , and put 4 in. Let it dry for 2 hours. 6.Once gain, heat the oven to 150 ℃ and turn off the oven. Put the top plate back in and let it dry for another two hours. 7.Decorate the Hexenhaus. It is common to bake meringue in an oven preheated to 100 ℃ for 90 minutes. However, our household oven's lowest temperature setting is 150 ℃, so we had to improvise by cooking it with the oven switched off. Creativity can get you a long way. In our house, any leftover egg whites are stored in the freezer for future use. We made our recipe today using thawed egg whites. If you beat them while half frozen, you can make a very fine grained meringue. Give it a try yourself! Additionally, the icing we used for our Hexenhaus was made with 70g of sugar and 17g of egg white. It reached a perfect thickness that stuck to the cookie very well.
