Closing the Loop : Turning Chicken Coop Waste into a Thriving Food System

A year after removing my chickens, I planted Upo (New Guinea Bean), cassava, Vetiver, and comfrey below the old chicken coop on my sloped land. As rainwater washed nutrients from the coop into a contour garden bed, I was concerned the nutrient load might be too strong. However, after a year of natural breakdown, the plants are now thriving, proving that what was once waste is now a powerful feeding system. This small-scale experiment on my 20-acre farm demonstrates how a closed-loop system can turn pollution into productivity-and it could be scaled up!
