GamerGate was just a label journalists use to make differing opinions sound like the devil. I remember that they said GamerGate is “dead” and all I said was “I guess this is vacation away from the Internet.”

Back in 2022, Ubisoft had removed Tom Clancy's name from its Rainbow Six spinoff called *X-Defiant*. Then later, they announced they're doing a reboot to Splinter Cell for the "modern" audience including "modernizing" its main character Sam Fisher. I believe from these troubling pieces of news tell me that the company is trying to remove Clancy's name if not his legacy from future and possibly previous titles as shown with "X-Defiant". As for Splinter Cell, there is no Sam Fisher without Michael Ironside involved. Need I say more?

Nintendo has used emulators going back to the Wii. I don't see why people are surprised. A lot of digital content that came out on the Wii was via emulation especially legacy games.
When Stuttering Craig brought up something Nintendo opposed I thought about the Virtual Boy to be honest lol 1:13:00

Nintendo is against emulation because they want control over the software they produce. It's not like they're philosophically opposed to the computational concept of emulation as such or something like that. If they're the owner of the software (which they are by definition) the whole thing's a moot point.
I really find it hard to believe that people are so dumb to not understand such a simple point, but apparently they either are or are being dumb on purpose. But either way that's why the whole discussion never seems to evolve at all in any constructive way.
Some people like to pretend otherwise but a huge amount of emulation users, probably the majority, use emulation to pirate stuff. There is currently no way to decouple people using it for preservation from those using it for piracy. It seems perfectly natural to me that they're not going to allow piracy of games releasing on their current platform. If you're paying attention at all, you'll notice that they didn't even go for legacy emulators but instead for the Switch emulators, some of which were allowing people to play games that weren't even released yet (and some of which were even charging for it).
If the best that emulation supporters can muster is "NINTENDO USE EMULATOR - BUT THEY SAY EMULATOR BAD , HAHAH DUMB" I don't think there ever will be any hope for this discussion to evolve and possibly one day result in producing some kind of regulatory framework that would decouple preservation from piracy.
