- Rassie Erasmus has named his Springbok 23 to take on Ireland in the first test this weekend.
He’s gone for a strong side, very similar to that which won the rugby World Cup in 2023. Спорт
Very strong and lots of versatility, very excited to see Sascha FMZ play, this is gonna be epic 👌👌👌
Incredibly strong springbok team, the only concern is if they will be rusty given they have not played together since the world cup. The Wales game had a very different team.
Rusty may be why we get to see Siya again. Can't wait
That’s not true.. they just played wales
No excuses if we lose at home
Pressure is now on the Boks to backup this starting lineup with a win. Its gna be a brutal match
I'm pretty sure that Steenekamp got the nod on the back of his performance for the Bulls against Leinster.
Can’t wait to watch
Wait for the 60 minute rule playing on the highfeld. Two amazing teams. 1800m above sea level. Air is scarce
12 of the RWC winning Team no risks they obviously take Ireland very seriously
I think it tells us Rassey really wants to win. He is showing great respect to the Irish squad, albeit missing some key players, he’s playing his big guns, loads of experience and I imagine they all want to beat Ireland. Hoping it will prove to be a good game. ☘
Steenkamp is a good scrummager he will be good for the Boks going forward
Du Toit and nyakane are better but it seems steenkamp will have played them before
Thanks Alfie
South Africa should win. Very strong side.
Cheers from Durban.
Looks like the Boks want to put the question to bed once and for all, 'Who is number one'
All Blacks, of course.
@@nepiahemopo1702 🤣🤣🤣
I think it’s been so long since SA beat Ireland in Ireland 2012 I think SA will have to come and try win that one first. They are already number 1 on form but test teams especially number 1 should be able to go away and expect to beat all comers..
@@davidwalker2402 The Boks don't "have to do" anything.
@@Alias-gy3tz well if you weren’t so stupid you would have read the thread and you would then have noticed I answered the post that said SA would have to win to show once and for all. So read first comment after.. consider yourself schooled 🤣
I'm a Saffir. My hunch is Ireland with a close win in the first test. And the springboks win by a larger margin in the second.
Well with the Oz ref pulling out and an English ref now in, U might be right
Anything can happen on the day, but Ireland shouldn't win either test, at least on paper. They don't have Sexton anymore, Gibson-Park is injured, and their front row was monstered by the Bulls a little while ago, while the Boks have two goal kickers on the team this time.
what do u base your hunch on ? Cdrtainlu not the facts?
@@peterwomersley facts often don't apply in rugby. How many backed the all blacks to beat Ireland in the world cup quarters
@@nicholaswoodward8191logically newzealand form means nothing in wc playoff nz have played 10 times more experienced in pressure games
Looks like a statement side. If/when they get the win, I could imagine the second test team being more experimental.
Nope, they want to win both tests.
@@Alias-gy3tzhahahaha U again
Yeah but it’s not a surprise at all
I would have liked to see Thomas Du Toit on the bench at loosehead. Steenekamp had a good season and totally deserve his chance. However I still believe Du Toits best position is loosehead. I would have liked to see how he goes at loosehead.
Not understanding the extra lock(Moerat) on the bench, considering PSDT can easily slot into lock I would have played an extra 8 on the bench. Quality side though man!
Ya, I had the same question. Would have love to see Roos take it to the Irish.
Firstly, Rassie wants to play a 6‐2, so that necessitates 4 locks on the squad and PSDT delivers more value as a defensive flanker.
Secondly, RG Snyman is the youngest of the locks and he is nearly 30. Older players are at more risk of injury and their playing time needs to be managed, so Rassie needs to bring youngsters through at some point.
The ideal scenario to bring youngsters through is to seed them in and amongst the experienced players, rather than what happened last WC cycle where the Boks fielded a new team nearly every game in order to find their best team and build depth. This cycle Rassie is clearly trying to balance results with WC preparations.
Marco can play 8, but kwagga can run all day and then some. I think it was for extra power in the pack for second half, and Franco can go 6 or 7. So I kinda see why but I agree with you, some Even roos power running.
Away with talking about who isn't available. Could you patch a video highlighting specific one-on-ones who start? Not the whole 15 tho!
Thanks great work as usual
No excuses for Ireland they were saying they're the best if you are the best you can play anyone and still win.. Go Bokke❤️🇿🇦🤘🏾
They never said they were best The international media said that.See he just said in the video!😮
They never said that .. other countries did
That actually works in reverse also. Good luck, may the better team on the day win. 🇮🇪
Hi Alfie, happy with the team except for Faf. I think it’s time for someone else.
Going to be a great game. Boks by 12
Too close to call in my view. Both teams are quality.
I like it
There is still time to fly out and watch the game live...
tickets sold out after 30 minutes
Some names in this squad the go the defense of the Irish edge. Lethal is an understatement
Boks by 5👍💯🇿🇦
Will be cheering for all the NH sides tomorrow ( including the Welsh ) and hoping the NH will be competitive and pray there is not a whitewash .
Not one of the Bok starting are based at altitude..All coastal or overseas..An argument an be made that the Irish players recent past have played more at altitude ..Just throwing it out there .😅
I think lots of people are waiting for Ireland to implode and even hoping, but Ireland is not built on just 15 players they have been building a system for over 20 years a system that can cope with one of the smallest pool of rugby players available for international duty, so depth will be a huge disadvantage when trying to compete with powers like SA France etc. so yes SA should as world champions and number 1 in the world win both tests. I think if Ireland go close in the first test we might see them grow in confidence to make a real challenge in the second. If this test was played in Ireland it’s been so long since SA beat Ireland in Ireland I think Ireland would be favorite to win. Let’s hope these tests live up to the hype and they are close.
It really feels like a lot of the old colonials seem to think Ireland should "know it's place" and how dare they disrupt the status quo.
Ireland is South Africa's hoodoo team. Something about Ireland bothers South Africa.
So now its showdown time.
Put up or shutup. If SA win this by one point, i will say ireland are better because home advantage, altitude and so fourth.
If ireland win it by one point, i will say the best team won.
Springboks, you better not fck this up and win by one point
Hype train...Alfred I thought you knew about rugby, best teams in rugby, very much between them
Ireland have 8 quarter finals
SA have 4 RWc gold
These next two game means fokol . SA still have 4 gold
I think this game is going to be very close. The Springboks will be rusty. Ireland has an advantage in the sense that most of their team will play together for their clubs. They should settle quicker.
I don't understand the Moerat and Snyman selections. Why have two locks on the bench who can only play lock?
Ireland will miss JGP and Keenan. Still they have good replacments.
The other question is how the new laws are going to change things. The one stop maul law is going to be the big one. Will teams still go for the lineout option from a penalty or will they rather just go for the less risky option and take the kick at goal?
My only wish is that both teams will finish with 15 players and we won't see red cards. However the chances of red cards with the new laws are very high in big games like this.
So many good games happening this weekend. Ireland 21-19. Second game will be more high score
Boks have put pressure on themselves to beat Ireland. So much talk about how they will thrash the Irish…let’s see if Boks can deliver
No pressure at all, they just selected the best team available ?
Who said they will trash the Irish?
Where do you get your news? Where did the Springboks say they will thrash Ireland?
Yes why the Irish was arrogant by suggesting See you in the FINAL.
No pressure at all,we just play rugby and allow fans to enjoy.
It just a game after all👍
