And there is difference culture wise but genetics wise it's the same according to researchers and it's also because Koches were the one of the first Sino Tibetans to migrate in India hence it got too many groups and leaving that apart Koch Rajbanshis are the Sanskritanised Koches who actually ruled and had their own kingdom and were also called Kamatas.... whereas the koches in Meghalaya followed the tribalistic rituals but still the same people
The performance of dancing troops of koch tribes from Meghalaya was awesome but viewers of this video please don't think that it's Rajbongshi people who are performing as we are not the same...we have our own clan like garo tribe and language, attire, custom etc...if you want to know about the real koch tribes come in garo hills or you some villages in assam like magurmari and kolbari..

Yogesh Rajbanshi he is correct there are koch residing in upper assam who defines themshelves as koch or koch kachari it became a debate when the people residing in north western and southern assam started calling themshelves as rajbangshis even genetics shows ancestry of koch people are similar to that of other kachari tribes and maybe koch were the first people who cultivated these lands in south west asia presently bangladesh assam north west bengal myanmar nepal bhutan tibet because of their huge population it can be said they have been living for a long time these links might help

Pls this is not a rajbanshi cultural dance. This one here is purely koch dance. You Rajbanshi People have your own form of dance and attires.. Stop stealing and misleading other People.. I'm not trying to provoke any sort of hatred. Just keep it real.. And i would never like my People to be called ( Koch Rajbanshi)...

dhrubajk I am from upper assam I was told that I was a koch kachari rather than a rajbongshi and me my and my entire bloodline never heard of rajbongshi word before we were koch or koch kacharis inhabitting upper assam its seems like you do have a point but do some more research on the genetic studies carried out on specific HBe gene marker frequencies that identifies common ancestry it clearly shows koch people have common ancestry like other kachari tribes and rajbongshi is a linguistic spread among the koch people with the rise of koch kamata as a kindom there was no rajbongshi prior to that because without proto assamese dilect ( which was spoken in upper assam entirely) I dont think kamrupi or kamtapuri dilect would have existed later on introduction of sanskrit the proto assamese dilect became assamese like other proto kamrupi and kamtapuri dilects became language
