Thank you for this! I’m pregnant and have similar worries. It’s nice to hear some positive things about the newborn stage instead of just hearing “you’ll never sleep, the baby cries all the time, your life is forever changed,” etc.
True this. Im so confused with people saying that you wont get enough sleep etc. Well, u just need to manage ur time. Lol. I had 4 kids only a year apart and it was a struggle. But found ways to manage. And also. Sleep when the baby sleeps lol
@@CosmicFishy totally - so easy to get into that negative mindset because motherhood is hard.. but what's the alternative? return your kids?! of course not! we are so privileged and blessed to have them. we have to shift our mindset and turn this into a learning and growth opportunity. you are going to be challenged for sure but you will also become a better person!
It is such a relief so watch a video with more positivity and serenity! I am so tired of videos that only scare moms to be, like babies are so difficult, everything is hard, exhausting, it looks like it is going to ruin your life! I feel really frustrated. Thanks for this!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my first and all I hear are the horror stories. I'm so worried about the sleep deprivation and of having no life, even though I'm excited to meet baby. Thank you for this bit of positivity!
It’s so nice to hear the positives!! My outlook on one day having children is that the hard parts are phases. So thank you for confirming that, it encourages motherhood vs scares me lol
Yeah the hard parts definitely are tough to get through but they can be relatively short. You’re going to do great if you ever decide to have children 😊
Yep! Every baby is different and every mom is different. We all have different experiences and each of our beliefs/opinions on motherhood is valuable. Thanks for sharing your experiences and views! It's always refreshing to hear other mama's stories. For me, breastfeeding was not as "easy" as I thought it was when I had my first baby. My nipples scabbed and bled for the first 2 weeks. I see why moms give up on breast feeding because of this struggle. Thankfully after the first few weeks my nipples got used to nursing and they healed. Loved the video!
Girl THANK YOU for this video!❤️ I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant and all I hear about is how hard it is and how I will miss my old life. Constant negative talk about motherhood to the point where I started to feel like I shouldn’t want to be a mother! This video helped me get out of my head and just “go with the flow” when it comes to becoming a mom. The excitement has come back!
Oh I’m so glad to hear that! Yes there will be tough days as a mother but overall it’s such an amazing experience. More people need to talk about how amazing it is
I've never watched you before this video but i absolutely LOVE your energy!! Thank you for this video! I'm so ready for a baby but my hubby wants to wait a little while longer.💜 I hope i have your kind of radiating energy though !
You are such a natural with Rook, I love how honest yet positive your videos are! I have a 6 week old daughter and honestly I feel so lost and exhausted. Your videos give me hope that maybe someday this will all get easier. Much love from the other side of the globe ❤
Thank you for this video, it’s important to give mothers hopeee. Often time it is easier to discuss the challenges, that the positive are often overlooked (we are guilty of it too)
I gave birth to my little princess on the 6th of october, and i pretty much had the same expectations and realizations as you! 😀 Also thank you for talking about the 6 week healing thing. My scars become very sensitive when i stand up too much and i was worried that i wasn't healing properly, but i can see now that am not the only one and that it's normal.
Very insightful and positive. I am also a new mom. my reality did not match my expectations. I had a hard time adjusting to geeing less sleep tho. Thanks for sharing. ❤️
Thanks for saying that most the info I hear is not 100% going to happen. I'm 20 weeks and my nerves have only just barely started kicking in but you have helped solve that. Your videos with everything baby related (and really all of them) are just so nice to watch for ideas to keep with me.
Thank you!! This was not at all terrifying - like a lot of pregnancy related information can be haha. I’m planning on giving birth in a hospital so I really appreciate your realistic yet comforting perspective.
Everyone has a different experience but for me, motherhood has been amazing. I still obviously have bad days and tough phases with Rook but the good outweighs the bad. I wish you the best in labour and delivery 😊
My husband and I are first time parents and we have been watching your videos nonstop! You are our favorite blog-mom!💙 our baby boy should make his appearance sometime in the next two weeks!
I love the point of newborns being easier than you think! makes it less scary and yes they sleep so much! toddlers not so much hahah and you're positivity around breastfeeding is super refreshing, we need to change the message that it is so hard regardless. it doesn't have to be that way.
@@annarocha3254 ah I'm sorry to hear that - it can definitely take time for babies to settle in and we often have one stage that is super challenging and others that are like yes I can breathe again! I'm about to have another newborn so hoping we can get through relatively unscathed - hahah - thanks for sharing your experience and I am SO glad he is sleeping so much better now. sleep is EVERYTHING!
I love this. Rook is beautiful. I second these. Minus the taking baby in public. That was hard for me. Otherwise very similar to my experiences. Especially the taking longer than 6 weeks. People should expect minimum 8-10 weeks. And maybe months after for that scar. Motherhood and birth are my favorite. I’m pregnant on boy #3! :)
I’ll find out this month if I’m pregnant. I had cold feet because I was worried about literally everything you said but I hope I handle it as well as well as you. 😬
Since I'm so young motherhood is in the distant future. Occasionally I ask questions and all I hear are negatives 😕But it was nice to hear positives because being a mother is one of my dreams.
I'm glad you had a positive birth experience. I had to have a c-section at 30 weeks because I needed open heart surgery 3 days later. I didnt get to hold my baby until over a week later. I also can't breastfeed. But I'm glad baby was fine and I am alive.
I feel like a lot of my expectations/realities were opposite to you lol. I feel like I don’t have enough clothes. I feel like my relationship with my husband is 100x better since we became parents (he’s amazing). And breastfeeding... has been the bane of my existence (pray for me). 3 weeks pp and in London lockdown!
Same! I can't go out at all because I'm on such a crazy breastfeeding program with pumping to keep up my supply. Its had such a huge negative effect on my mental health. And yes, my relationship with my husband has gotten so much stronger and batter through the newborn stage.
@@sarahfitzpatrick148 Have you tried lactation supplements/teas and foods to help boost supply? Thats what I’m doing right now as the constant pumping was getting to me.
I wish we had a washer and dryer! We need so many clothes & bibs, etc because our laundry is shared in the basement. It requires quarters and we have a coin shortage right now per the pandemic. 😬 We can only do baby's laundry once a week to once every two weeks.
Just so you know you are very very lucky. I have a 2 month old girl and I pretty much can’t relate to anything you said 🤦🏻♀️ my daughter doesn’t like car rides so she cries the entire time. She also cries in the stroller, she does fall asleep eventually but wakes up very frequently so I can’t really go with her anywhere. And the BIGGEST difference is breastfeeding. We had such problems and I spent a month with a screaming baby at my boobs and horribly sour nipples until I decided to give up. So I don’t wanna scare anyone but just so you know you’ve been very very lucky...
I’m so sorry you had such a tough experience. I know that Rook has been really good to me and that’s now everyone’s experience. This video that just what I didn’t expect from my experience 💛
I had the exact same experience. The first 4 months with my newborn I almost didn't leave the house. Too stressful. It's nice to see and show that it can be different though, I guess every baby is different.
I feel like taking care of the baby is the easy part. Taking care of the house, cooking, laundry and other housework, plus the mental gymnastics of trying to make the best decisions for your child... that's really hard.
Binging your videos while I’m preparing for our girl next month. I’m curious though, at the end of the video you mentioned your husband and you went to a lake and left Rook with a sitter. Was this just to be more enjoyable for the two of you or a specific reason? I ask because I thought you could take babies swimming at any age. Thankful for your videos!
