The primer episode asks if the race to the top is a marathon or sprint? Guy, one of the sharpest minds on Wall Street, shows what steely resolve it takes to make it in the markets; while Parker defends his risky strategy of short-selling. Beautiful Sandra, the Deal Maker, gets her schmooze on at an elite New York Gala while Jill, initially retired at 27, works diligently to build her own hedge fund, and Alex, the Russian day trader, teaches his young son some important lessons about reaching the American Dream.

GUY DeCHIMAY Hedge Fund Manger:
You should wake up in the morning with an immediate feeling of dread no matter what and that is simply because if you know what you’re doing, you realize that it might really be fleeting.
SANDRA NAVIDI Lawyer/Deal Maker:
Being a woman on Wall Street, I think it has it’s good parts and bad parts. Oftentimes you still feel it’s a little bit of a boy’s network. Sometimes you’re not being taken as seriously because you wear a skirt and makeup.
ALEX GERCHICK Day Trader:
There are two major things in Wall Street on how to make money. The first is mind your own business and the second is discipline.
PARKER L. QUILLEN Hedge Fund Manager:
A lot of our clients look to us to make them money but also to be something of an insurance policy if the market really gets nasty. Yesterday the market was nasty and we had a very good day.
JILL DE LOSA Analyst:
There are two numbers I don’t think I’ll forget. One is 15 and that is the age that I moved out of my parent’s house. The other is 27 and that’s the age I retired.
RICHARD TAGLIANETTI Manager Acquisitions:
It’s about making money but you have to have discipline, you have to be clairvoyant, you have to be obsessed and fearless. When Guy was managing money in a loft in SOHO he was knocking it out of the park and no one knew he existed and now he has an office in a mid-town hi-rise and his performance has been off the charts, putting in the top 5% of managers.
GUY:
We are investors in U.S. equities only and we are a long shore fund which means we are basically making bets, if you will, on stock prices going up and stock prices going down. We trade for both our personal equity as well as that of institutional funds and high network investors. Alrighty, we’ve got a lot of money to put to work so we’re going to put some of it to work today.

SANDY:
I have always worked on getting one degree upon another to show that I’m actually well accomplished. I did feel under pressure to prove that. You have to have a certain resilience for Wall Street.
PARKER:
It gets stressful here usually around the open - which is at 9:30 Eastern time. There’s usually some information that has come to light over night.
ALEX:

Yes, they need a season during COVID. Also a season to cover crypto. Maybe another that touches on the Gamestop fiasco. A lot has happened in the markets since WSW season 3.
episode 1 is still the best in all of the 3 seasons, because it portrayed some real wall streeters, even when one of the HF manager Guy De Chimay was jailed for fraud. That's the real risk in investment and trading, there are lots of scams and ponzi scheme and bad trades along with the big money.
well most of the times it happens that everybody is happy when there are returns but when there are losses they want you to pay, and that's ok, but then if somebody gets too much emotional and looses the focus and suits you, it's only loss of money, not being present on the markets 100% and who's the best lawyers wins. I don't have customers or associates anymore since 15 years. And I'm very happy.
As a retail investor, I know I'd never outperform these guys financially with the returns. But with no pressure that anyone will fire me, I can outperform their patience, make considerable risk and grow my money at my own pace. They live in a trading cave and I live in the real world. With the right observation, I can experience first hand good companies in my circle of competence

Opening theme sounds like Succession main theme. But turns out this video came out before s01 (2018).
A hedge fund is called like that because it is hedged against market fluctuations, when i see ppl are stressed each minute of the day and a day trader is their star that gives an indication that this not real, it is just made for the show to be attractive to watch and at the same time to make ppl avoid this career path so sharks in WS will not have future competition in the field, same thing when they make the terminology of finance so complicated to scare you from entering the field.
Most Hedge fund didn't beat the S&P500 with far better results but high net wealth individuals prefer it to s&p due to its safe nature, eventually it is not gambling as they show here in this SHOW ....
I was out from home(parent and family) at the age of 18 and the year i retired is 20(i'm 41years old now) 😊. And now i'm personal and independence consultant(but sometime i've nothing for a months).But at least i got personal and private offshore account 😊( i personally think you all know this right?).I do also respect the government policies,paying and declared personal taxes(the harders part of any Wall Streeters ☺).

When it comes to buying stocks, I always prefer a mixed strategy of trading and investing. For example, in 2020, oil is going down to $10 per barrel. That will be a great time to buy and hold. But if u are a trader, u will probably cut loss when the oil price becomes negative. And u miss a massive, massive returns.
