I did in a back room at best buy Santa Rosa ca. As no current cable or sat has the capacity without More compression, its a waste. A good 4k old from LG rocks.
I bought one of the first Samsung 8k models back in early 2019 Q900 82". Loved how bright the TV is and the gaming, hated that some movie and TV show dark scenes had the auto-dim all over the place. BUT the biggest issue was on year 4 the TV developed a bright spot (3-4 inches) and a smudge 0.25" that appeared as the TV gets warm. For a TV that was $7k I find that unacceptable and I lost a lot of faith of Samsung's longevity. Just because the screen looks great and has no issues it does not mean it will look like that after warranty. I gave my parents my old 75" 4k Vizio from like 2015 and its still running with no issues. Don't get me wrong, I love the Samsung tech, but they need to increase the build quality and longevity, until that improves my next TV is a LG or Sony.
Being the flagship tv, you would expect Samsung to throw every bit of LED knowledge they have at the Q900B. The result is a beautifully crafted screen that is extremely elegant both on wall or on a tv support. The image is staggering and superb.
Imo the best thing about 8k is that it divides evenly into common resolutions i.e. 1080p, 1440p and 4k will all look like they are displayed natively if integer scaling is used
It’s sad TV companies are putting their best LCD technology behind the 8K pay wall to try and justify the astronomical prices. I will just stick with the best tech 4K has to offer, thank you.
@@semahj Right, that’s why I stated a MiniLED panel that’s better as well. It’s best in no area. Also, 8K panels are worse at displaying 4K than 4K panels. So unless you have the XR Cognitive processor in your TV, like with a Sony, it’s not a good idea at the moment. Either Z9K, or just get a high-end 4K TV. And at this point, 1000 nits is honestly more than good enough especially when you factor in the perfect black level, instant response time, and absolutely incredible color gamut that comes with QD-OLED panels. I would not trade all that away for a few hundred more nits, no way. But I guess that explains the price of the S95B and especially the A95K. LG G2 gets about as bright but lacks the color gamut and out-of-box color accuracy of QD-OLED, so I’d still say the A95K and S95B are the two best TV’s available (particularly A95K because it has Dolby Vision instead of HDR10+, and Sony image processing of course). Hi Caleb, Thanks for the great work you put in - every single video is interesting and informative and most importantly, very entertaining! One question: from your point of view, is there any (good!) reason to switch from a Sony Z8H to a Samsung QN90/900 or Sony X90/95J / K? I'm struggling with myself, but so far the various tests haven't completely convinced me.... A Z9 is unfortunately too expensive....but the Z8 I "shot "last year for only 2,500 euros .... Thanks for your advice! Greetings from Germany!
You briefly mentioned TCL and that's the TV review I can't wait to see. Have you heard anything about when the C935 might be making its way Stateside or to your office?
I bought an 85" 4K last year. I can see every pixel. People tell me I can't. I can. People say you can't see pixels that small. I can. The screen door effect is terrible. It's like the TV has a microgrid. 8K isn't about the content. It's about the pixel size. We need 8K TVs because we need small pixels. Also all 1080P and 4K content are 8K content because the neural network upscale algorithms now are mind blowing.
Major TV manufacturers have adopted this attitude concerning their LCD TVs: "Too bad if you want our state-of-the-art technology in a 55" 4K LCD TV. We're not going to provide you with that. If you want the best quality LCD TVs from us, you have to buy a bigger 8k model." I'm just glad that the new QD-OLED TVs are being made available in a 55" size. I'll be investing in that superior technology, instead.
So I've spent the good part of my Saturday watching a ton of your reviews.....I currently own a Samsung Q90 2019 model with the one connect which I absolutely love and I love the look it has being flush mounted to the wall because of the one connect cable. Great design but......... This is where it gets really bad...... Had an issue with my TV a year ago and had it repaired after being only 2 years old and now for the past month and a half I've been watching TV with the top third of my screen dim because of a back light issue. Of course it's out of warranty which I paid $4,000 for it and 2019 so to have to buy another TV is real upsetting in such a short period of time. I really can't see myself spending another dollar with Samsung.
The 8K detractors are the same Amish trollers that said the same thing about 1080p and 4K but probably said 3D was soo cool. If you want a LARGE TV - not some middling 65", you want 8K - and no, you don't need to sit 20' from a 100" TV. And ANYONE who has seen decent upscaling (e.g. Oppo or Sony) knows that lower resolution content can look better when upscaled. I'm a big fan of putting the controls in a seperate box - (provided they have LONG cables available for it).
I bought this TV a few weeks ago and it does have a backlight issue. It looks like a grid of dark spots, only viewable on very light images. The shop swapped the TV but the problem remains on the new TV. Everything else looks great though.
The backlightlighting issues due to it being an oled iPhones with retina screen switch which are not oled have white spots occasionally LCD panels don't really have this issue
Hi Caleb, and greetings from Sweden. Do the speakers sound better/same/worse when the TV is wall-mounted or on the stand? Is a sound bar even needed? Thanks, keep up the great work. Soon 1 mil.
Encouraging that Samsung are still sticking with developing non-OLED. I remain unconvinced that QD-OLED is utopia, in a bright room this level of brightness will really make a difference, plus it has the polarizing layer which will give better bright room blacks than a QD-OLED. Also nice to see Samsung at least can make a stand that holds the TV vertical
Bestest TV.... not a real word... Black friday deal for 3900 right now... So tempted to buy this, but wanted more of an OLED style not a mini LED... I like the self powered pixels that get BLACK in dark scenes... how is mini LED for dark scenes?
I have a customer interested ( not committed yet 🤞🤞🤞🤞) in the Samsung MNA 110MS1 their micro LED 110” TV. Actually we sell significant amounts of the 85” 900b TVs so far this year
The host didn't notice that when you run the TV at 144hz, it can only display 4k images [it will still upscale them, but it won't technically display 8k content at 144hz].
So far I am very happy with the purchase...size75" matters!:) Picture quality - grate! The issue I find is that I must change the picture settings to get the best quality picture. Using only FMM changing 2.2 to 1886 and local dimming from low, standard, high.... Plasma was one set only for all!:) QN900B is much much better in mamy ways
I hate getting the bare minimum out of the ps5 my parents won’t ever get me a tv until the one I have breaks (it’s an old 2012 43 inch plasma tv) but it’s weird I’ve never turned it off with my ps4 I’m surprised it still works after years of not being shut off, Don’t TVs have a lifespan
Caleb, buying either 65 inch s95b oled or 65 inch 900b 8k. I only stream series and movies in a mainly dark room. Which one should I choose? I sit about 9 feet away.
Just had to send mine back and get a replacement and both of them on 75 had same issue… some sort of backlight vertical banding panel problem… same on both… so annoying
Just give me all the good stuff in a QD-OLED instead of some overpriced, outdated panel technology that simply struggles to keep LED relevant compared to the picture purity any OLED can provide
Ugh dude this tv has Oled like black levels and amazing picture quality. And it’s mini led it’s not outdated tech. It’s nothing like regular led or lcd smh.
85 inch TV and above should have 8k. Believe me after switching different TV at 85inch-4K are all fuzzy and dizzy from Bestbuy. So I decided to get this QN900 8k for my bedroom As if I’m in there because it upgrades everything to 8K clarity and realistic color even I am a foot away from the screen.
Hi Bro. Whats tour best picture settings. Ijust purchased a 55U8H , but find it lacks a lot of what the US market gets. Is this an inferior roduct to the US one?
Game streaming is not gonna replace a console or PC until there’s minimal input latency and the planet’s internet infrastructure becomes waaaay superior to what it is now, just because you can play it and have a good experience doesn’t mean any household will.
Has anyone been able to connect a pc with an nvidia gpu and switch to 4k 120 or 144hz? I've tried all the suggested option I could find on nvidia control panel and it only ever gives me an HDMI no signal error when trying to switch refresh rate.
Nobody needs 65inch....(i cant see whole tv because its too big=focusing on small part of screen losing movie story plot action details) I sit about 10-15feet away BRING BACK 60 INCH! MUST HAVES: -8K AI UPSCALE -SMART TV -3D TECH -DOLBY HDR11 -CREATE MORE FRAMES IN BETWEEN FRAME(MOTION SMOOTH)
It's just ridiculous that Samsung is trying to sell old tech. But everyone knows very well that the Samsung QD-OLED TV is the best TV from Samsung and not the mini LED panels. Mini LED panels have been in monitor high-end technology for years, and it is sad that we still don't have a 4K 165Hz 32-inch monitor after all these years, and now I have to listen to Samsung saying that the Samsung QN900B 8K is the best TV out there Samsung is. Oh man, what nonsense. That's how I would say a TN panel is better than an OLED panel...
So i had to return mine because of too many issues. It didn't want to play nice with my sound bar - whether conntected HDMI or optical. I couldn't use it at all with my MBP using HDMI, but I think that was a Mac issue. Still a con for me though. Had issues connecting airplay because it would only connect some of the time, and I'd have to spend up to 30 minutes playing with both devices to get it to reconnect again. And then it wasn't a smooth performance from there either. And I absolutely HATED the super very limited very very very few apps lousy OS. And in case I didn't emphasize that well enough, the OS is awful! The only thing I liked about the tv was the picture. And I LOVED THAT! I so badly wanted to keep the tv for that alone, but the other stuff was so problematic that I just couldn't afford it. And another plus, and most important factor for me, is that the picture was guaranteed to not suffer burn-in. That's the most important since I use the tv as an external (and primary) monitor. Since I'm on social media most of the day, most of the page showing is stationary, while only a small portion scrolls or changes in some way. And my OLED was supposed to be resistant to that (I was told), but it suffers dramatically! I need to replace it, but I NEED a tv with a good operating system and a screen that is immune to burn-in (or ghosting). But from what I can determine, that tv does not exist. Samsung is the closest, but the OS kills it. Would welcome any knowledge of alternatives.
Use an Apple TV 4K Box and get a replacement tv of that same model that will work with your sound bar, your original one may have been faulty in that regard. No issues with the sound bar over here. Always use Apple TV boxes, tv OS for all brands are awful in comparison. Or even the top of the line Roku, but since you have a Mac, Apple TV is perfect for you.
Why does no one talk about how the 8K resolution somehow halves the native contrast ratio of the screen? That's a big problem for 8K in controlling blooming in challenging scenes - to the point where you just stick with 4K because it natively doesn't have that issue due to a naturally higher contrast ratio.
Does anyone know when Australia will see the QN95B selling in other stores other than Harvey Norman or direct through Samsung. I’m sitting on credit at JB HIFI after cancelling an order for an older QN90A…not much info out there sadly. I know I’m shooting in the dark here. PS Great review as always mate. This might be my only option if I can’t get the QN95B from the right place.
Seriously this is the point where the pixels are too dense to see any difference. The human eye will not see any difference unless the screen is huge. What they'll notice unfortunately is the other changes that you would normally expect from a flagship TV. I don't like 8K as the new flagship tier I'd rather have 4K and any other improvements.
If you have a QN900B and you see the newest firmware update 1420 available, please turn off your wifi for good or the tv will update it automatically even though you already have the auto update off. The 1420 will destroy HDR for gaming whether you game on PS5 or PC.
I purchased a LG 65 nano 95 TNA. Three months or so ago, in that time its been fixed twice, grey dull areas on the screen. So I'm sorry that I didn't buy the Samsung, PS. I forgot to mention that the LG is 8k.
I just got mine mounted and set up and so far it's absolutely mind blowing how good this TV is.
We have several QN800B 65 inch models in my office and they all seem solid with no backlight issues.

You briefly mentioned TCL and that's the TV review I can't wait to see. Have you heard anything about when the C935 might be making its way Stateside or to your office?
We gonna get you to that 1M Mark, Celeb!
I need (2) of these ASAP 👍🏼
Just bit the bullet on this tv 75inch roll on next Saturday
Just have to say this tv is fantastic well impressed
Very clean panel and it just pop's
I bought an 85" 4K last year. I can see every pixel. People tell me I can't. I can. People say you can't see pixels that small. I can. The screen door effect is terrible. It's like the TV has a microgrid.
8K isn't about the content. It's about the pixel size.
We need 8K TVs because we need small pixels.
Also all 1080P and 4K content are 8K content because the neural network upscale algorithms now are mind blowing.
Thanks Caleb for the honest and straight forward review.
It's almost like there's way bigger profit margins at higher sizes and resolutions, or something.
Hey Caleb, in your review, what size was the QN900B? I'm curious to know if it was the 65" version where you were able to get the 3000 nits in HDR.
75inch with 64x I think
Hey Caleb, have you been able to compare this with Sony's new Z9K yet? If so, do you have any comparison points?
I bought this TV a few weeks ago and it does have a backlight issue. It looks like a grid of dark spots, only viewable on very light images. The shop swapped the TV but the problem remains on the new TV. Everything else looks great though.
The backlightlighting issues due to it being an oled iPhones with retina screen switch which are not oled have white spots occasionally LCD panels don't really have this issue
@@beatyoubeachyt8303 except it's not an oled it's a qled mini-led & they Do have a backlight issue
Hi Caleb, and greetings from Sweden. Do the speakers sound better/same/worse when the TV is wall-mounted or on the stand? Is a sound bar even needed? Thanks, keep up the great work. Soon 1 mil.
Another benefit or 'reason to currently own' an 8k TV is, when watching 1080 content on an 85-inch TV, the TV lines are not visible.
Yeah I'm in that category too I have to wait until I can afford one 8k TV.
This TV is so good I bought it twice! The 85 in model!
I noticed that this TV is wifi 6e....finally a premium TV which offers decent WiFi connectivity. Does anyone know if it has gigabit ethernet?
Encouraging that Samsung are still sticking with developing non-OLED. I remain unconvinced that QD-OLED is utopia, in a bright room this level of brightness will really make a difference, plus it has the polarizing layer which will give better bright room blacks than a QD-OLED. Also nice to see Samsung at least can make a stand that holds the TV vertical
I am in love with this tv but you did not mention whether it can record programs.
i have a question about the fact it says 4k 60/120fps AND 8K@60...which one & when, and how does it decide & how can you tell, can you select which one?
Yes Please do the Z9K comparison.
How does this compare to the brand new QN900C ??
I look forward for the compairson
EXACTLY TIME FOR THE Z9K REVIEW WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOREVER!!!!🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Is this TV still a good option now still or are the new range (2022) of TVs better?
Thanks all
So looking forward to the Sony Z9K review!
Is QN900B still worth buying compared to the newest QN900D?
Will arrive tomorrow 🎉 75". May i ask for best screen setup ?👍
Yes, please compare Samsung QN900B with Sony Z9K in your next video.
So will there be a comp video between this and what you say is their current best TV? That OLED TV.
The 8K Samsung TV is way ahead of its time
So this is a preview? When is the review? Test specs? Results?
The 800b is $1999.00 today, 11/3/22, at Best Buy. Not bad if its a great tv.
Caleb, buying either 65 inch s95b oled or 65 inch 900b 8k. I only stream series and movies in a mainly dark room. Which one should I choose? I sit about 9 feet away.
Is the picture on the 900c THAT much better than the 900b 8k? Or go with the 900b and save money? Thanks
Heya Caleb, looking good with the weight loss
Have you checked out the Sharp 8K tv/ Computer Monitor?!?! Saw it once. Would love to hear you’re comments on it.
Caleb when are you going to review the Sony Z9K ?
SIR, a couple of questions
Are there problems with lipsyncing ?
How is the motion performance when viewing sports or anime ?
The issue I would have with 8K TV is there is no Standard as of today. So 5 Years from now 8K might be different format.
Hi Bro. Whats tour best picture settings. Ijust purchased a 55U8H , but find it lacks a lot of what the US market gets. Is this an inferior roduct to the US one?
Does this tv leave local dimming enabled when VRR is enabled? That’s a huge plus for all sony TVs that support it
Game streaming is not gonna replace a console or PC until there’s minimal input latency and the planet’s internet infrastructure becomes waaaay superior to what it is now, just because you can play it and have a good experience doesn’t mean any household will.
I was just about to say this. Remember Stadia? I don't think Samsung has more resources to make that happen than Google.
Has anyone been able to connect a pc with an nvidia gpu and switch to 4k 120 or 144hz? I've tried all the suggested option I could find on nvidia control panel and it only ever gives me an HDMI no signal error when trying to switch refresh rate.
Nobody needs 65inch....(i cant see whole tv because its too big=focusing on small part of screen losing movie story plot action details)
I sit about 10-15feet away
BRING BACK 60 INCH!
MUST HAVES:
-8K AI UPSCALE
-SMART TV
-3D TECH
-DOLBY HDR11
-CREATE MORE FRAMES IN BETWEEN FRAME(MOTION SMOOTH)
Shape Adaptive Light Technology. S.A.L.T. !
are you going to do a review of the 900 to the oled? is it worth it?
It's just ridiculous that Samsung is trying to sell old tech. But everyone knows very well that the Samsung QD-OLED TV is the best TV from Samsung and not the mini LED panels. Mini LED panels have been in monitor high-end technology for years, and it is sad that we still don't have a 4K 165Hz 32-inch monitor after all these years, and now I have to listen to Samsung saying that the Samsung QN900B 8K is the best TV out there Samsung is. Oh man, what nonsense. That's how I would say a TN panel is better than an OLED panel...
This isn’t old tech dude. Mini led is completely new tech. It’s not the same as just regular qled or led
did you saw the 3 d perpsective option... it should give more depth when you look at some video ?
When are you reviewing the Sony Z9K?
Yes pls. Z9k Vs QN900B.
i get 1 gbps internet up&down. is that sufficient for 8K?
Yeeeees please give the comparisons
What happened to the versus videos Caleb??
How do you know if you have a back-light problem?
Currently you can pick up a 75”QN800A and QN90B for about the same price. What is your option on those two models?
90b....last yrs 8k had subpar performance.
Thanks
Seriously this is the point where the pixels are too dense to see any difference. The human eye will not see any difference unless the screen is huge. What they'll notice unfortunately is the other changes that you would normally expect from a flagship TV. I don't like 8K as the new flagship tier I'd rather have 4K and any other improvements.
Whats the point of a one connect cable that short?
@ Digital trends what size tv did you review?
Hey why doesn't anyone talk about the qn800b? And is it any good?
Hi Caleb, thinking of upgrading from 65" Q9FN to 75" QN900B, is the upgrade worth it? TV on sale at the moment.
I went to QN900B from a Q950TS (2020 QLED) and I thought that was worth it.
If you have a QN900B and you see the newest firmware update 1420 available, please turn off your wifi for good or the tv will update it automatically even though you already have the auto update off.
The 1420 will destroy HDR for gaming whether you game on PS5 or PC.
If i get a new from the store, what firmware will it have?
Many reviews on Amazon criticize the user interface. Maybe if you drive this with an Apple TV?
I am thinking about the Toshiba m550. Could you give me your opinion. Thanks
I purchased a LG 65 nano 95 TNA. Three months or so ago, in that time its been fixed twice, grey dull areas on the screen. So I'm sorry that I didn't buy the Samsung, PS. I forgot to mention that the LG is 8k.
LG LCDs are 🗑 🗑 🗑
