Great video. I am a complete noob but have been using Windsurf and Cursor to create some fairly interesting apps for myself. I did however have an experience where Windsurf took one of my prompts down a complete rabbit hole and destroyed a bunch of work I had done. I quickly learned that Git is my friend and I didn’t even know what Git was but Windsurf was able to walk me through that process as well. You just never know when one prompt might muck up a bunch of work it has done for you.
Thanks! glad to see I'm not the only one :-). I think one problem is now the AI agent can actually delete files that it deems not needed anymore. Hopefully in future versions this will become a soft delete and go to a "recycle bin". Also better undo functionality would be great. Glad you are making so much progress without a dev background!
we have few things in common so far I think... my first name is Greg, I did not know how to set up git but did with Windsurf (well, Claude) guidance + destroyed all my nice front end after going on a backend rabbit hole hhh !! Starting again from stratch almost, but now I asked to create a log journal to update everytime I move one step furhter... lets see !
i might need to learn git, as a noob, i've been copying the whole folder. Some of my projects look like "project, project - copy, project - copy - copy" and so forth.
@ Have Windsurf help you set it up. It walked me through the process and was super easy and I was a total noob with git! Good luck. I recently had to rely on Git to pull back a good build of some code that Windsurf messed up after I wanted some changes and it helped walk me through that process too. Good luck!
Unfortunately, after a certain period, Windsurf starts acting up. I start a new chat, but sometimes it takes a long time to solve an issue. Recently, I asked for a simple switch button with animation, and it just couldn’t do it. I even had the instructions written by another AI, thinking it might not understand what I wrote, and tried 5 different methods, but it still didn’t work. It struggles with simple tasks. It still has a long way to go.
I would agree it’s definitely not a replacement for an experienced developer, but it has come a long way even in the last few months. I haven’t personally seen it unable to create a toggle, it’s been pretty good with simple UI components for me
It's certainly not perfect and doc changes outside the LLMs knowledge window is still something that needs work. However, just comparing what a non/inexperienced developer can build now compared to just a year ago is insane to me.
@aiunleashed509 its insane to all of us that aren't edgy. This dude acta like this stuff has been out 10 yrs. I wouldn't waste time responding to their illogical comments
Thank you for your efforts to spread insightful AI tools practices, you are awesome, keep up the good work!

Use cascade base when implementing codes in Windsurf.
@@mellowtones1985 why is that? i'm just curious
@@MildLifeCrisis ask Windsurf Chat: What is the best way to use Cascade base, Claude 3.5 sonnet and GPT40 in windsurf?

thanks - great video:)

Is not insane an ia editor without the feature of get New docs is useless
