Love this interview!!! Your insights on the trends were so helpful. Thank you for the California shout out for novice wine lovers. I lived there for 10 years and had the great fortune to wine taste in Napa Valley, Temecula and Santa Barbara. While living in Southern California, a friend of mine got some winery recommendations from our local wine shop, Everson Royce, in Pasadena. Some running friends and I ventured up to Santa Barbara, stopping at several places but one really made an impression on me... we showed up a Roark Wine Co. only to realize they don't even have a tasting room. Instead, the owner Ryan and his partner Jenn sat with us around a table amidst their warehouse of aging wines and opened bottle after bottle for us to try. They shared their favorite wines and their journey starting up in the business, particularly the patience it takes to get into wine-making, since it's a huge initial investment of time and money... and then you wait :) They're loving it and seeing the delicious fruits of their labor now after several years. After about an hour, we bought several bottles, thanked them and went along our way. The tasting (and awesome conversation) was free, which you don't see often anymore. We ordered some more wine to be shipped a few months later and they remembered us -- the running team. Californians are generally very open, welcoming and delight in sharing their best. I second your recommendation. I'm so curious about China, too, and would love to visit the region you mentioned. Sounds beautiful. Thanks #80Harvests for sharing!

+Lara C What a great wine experience! Winemakers and producers in the US are certainly some of the most open and welcoming. We're looking forward to discovering many other interesting regions and hopefully we'll find some hospitality on par with US charm :) We'll keep you posted!
