I reckon it’s a car + tyre thing but also the ad09 is absolutely not a grip monster like re71 or ar1. I shaved 2 seconds just from switching out my ps4s to ad09, so they are definitely worth the cost, it’s more so that they aren’t a FULL track tyre, they are a great steetable friendly tyre that will give you a decent lap or two on a track. They also last a very long time from what I’ve experienced. Just depends on needs, I do mostly B roads with 2-3 track days a summer and the ad09 is probably the best new tyre for this type of driving. Side note - they are also very quiet for a tyre of this type, again showing it’s a more comfortable and hybrid type of tyre. Otherwise, looks like you had heaps of fun mate!

That’s spot on, they’re good for someone that does mostly road miles but also wants a tyre that doesn’t fall apart on the track.
I was just disappointed that after the first heat cycle they weren’t any quicker than the AD08 and all 4 of mine have cracked across the carcass of the tyre. And I think for the money there are better options. The retail here is expensive. I did a review on them a couple of videos back going into all this 👍

Rain drops on wind shield. Cold track? Cold tires? Maybe tires didn't warm up?

Haha I wish! It was bug splatter on the windscreen. Track temp was probably close to 30 Celsius (very hot) and tyres at perfect temp, also pressure at 28 hot.

Oh, so you don't recommend them? I thought they were one of the best track day tyres out there? What is your recommendation? Nankang CSR? Size availability is the thing. want to go to 255/35 and 275/35 19 for my M2C.

I did a video review on them, it’s a couple of videos back on my channel. They’re ok but I wouldn’t pay full retail for them. If I were you I’d go for a set of star marked cup 2 in 245/265. I’ve used a few sets of these on my M4 and they’re almost as fast as AR-1 but last much longer, don’t drop off like AD09 (and are quicker), and work at higher temps. I don’t have any experience of CRS but I bet they’re brilliant, too expensive at the moment for me to try.

Whoever designed the tires: "Yeah, you're welcome."

This doesn't bode well for my second go at the ring shortly! Will let you know how I get on after a few laps - will see how bad the drop off really goes after a few more heat cycles

Yes please let us know. I’m sure they’ll be fine, if you can keep temps on the lower side and make sure pressures aren’t too high they should be ok. The car feels good on them, and great fun to do skids, but I couldn’t get them to go quickly other than the first use and even then they were still a couple of tenths off much smaller cup 2 at Brands 😢

I wonder if it’s a weight/ power thing. As I really like the ad09 on my e46m3. But I has a lot less torque and under 1400kg

It could be but I think they were just heat cycled out. The first time I used them they were quite quick then dropped off hugely. They’ve probably done about 3 hours track time.

    Tyre pressures?

28 psi which is perfect for this tyre and what Yokohama motorsport recommend. I think they don’t like the heat.

I have a feeling that the individuals (who arent sponsored) who rave about these tyres for track work and compare them to tyres like ar1's... barely set competitive lap times in/for their cars, thats the only way i can make sense of it.

Yeah. And that's the same with all car stuff 😂 The AD09's were quickish but only on the first heat cycle. On their third heat cycle they only managed the same time as the old AD08R. They feel good but when considering the competition and cost I think there are better track tyres.

Try to rotate less when hitting the apex, so cut the corner later, almost already opening the wheel when at apex. 😉
More throttle control! Won’t drift that much

@@xZiMinDaveyy Thank you! That's very kind!! I've been thinking a lot about the 'ring recently but it's difficult getting insurance as I'm from UK. I haven't been for years so will hopefully get there soon, will message if I do 👍👍
