I enjoyed your video , i wish though you had shown how much a struggle it would be refitting the subframe on your own as i,m considering dropping the sub frame on my mini clubman for a clean up as i think it must have spent some time at the bottom of the sea!😀, nevertheless i did enjoy your video .
As soon as you mentioned you were fitting parts to a BMW that would last forever an alarm went off in their HQ, parts lasting forever on a BMW is unheard of 😂😂
This video is one of the most comprehensive and professional Mini Series for DIY'ers I have seen. I will be subscribing, donating and hoping for more content. The pace; clarity of your camera shots surrounding torque specs and repair techniques is too often missed. Love the setting and hope the neighbors are not upset😁
Yeah unfortunately because I’m having to work outside with this, I was battling the daylight.. Actually took 3 days to record this video because of that!
Very good point, in my experience George would be better off leaving the bottom swivel joints out allowing movement of the front strut. That way when putting the engine and box back in the drive shafts can go in afterwards.
Hi George, do you know the specs for clearances of N47D20C for Main and Big end Bearings, as well as piston Rings, I have been searching the internet and I can't find any.
I’ve really enjoyed your videos about the Mini Cooper S. This is something I would like to do on my own car. Can you give me an idea of cost of the paint and bushes + anything else for the front subframe? Not including any engine work. I’d like to have some idea of cost before I start Thanks
Proper job, that, George. You've been most thorough. Thanks very much for a really informative video. The car is coming together nicely, something to look back on as a solid educational experience. Onwards and upwards.

All ready for the engine to go in now!
Yep😍

It’s looking good George
@10:05 use a shorter extension, or not at all if you don’t need one. Makes torquing a lot easier

Appreciate all that my friend!
I would have never thought how iconic the new Mini would become.
The R56 is my favourite of the “new” minis
I really enjoy seeing your videos improve in filming quality! Keep up the good job!!!
Cheers Dragan!

Appreciate it Simon!
Another great video george and i must say it looks fantastic , looking forward to seeing this one finished
Loving this series, I’d love to be able to do this to my R56 Cooper as it needs it 😂
You can do it!
I’m the same but hubby disabled so maybe my jcw had its last mot.
You look so happy on this one George. Great job…looking forward to seeing the engine back from barum and it all looking like new.
I took the engine block away from Barum the same day.. Just need to find a couple of days to get it all checked and built!
Hi George, that looked like hard work, but what a result, looks fantastic 👏
Mark
Cheers Mark!

Cracking job George...thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!

Cheers Mark!
Good job your giving good descriptions, as the video is very dark, May I suggest some lighting 👍

Did you treat the inside of the subframe with a cavity wax? As they rust from the inside out too…
Really good video George 😀
Thanks David!
My only thought was how are you going to get the drives shafts in now you have lovingly built up the entire subframe?
Driveshafts go on top of the subframe mate👍🏻

Great time to change the clutch on the min min, as your well aware, front end has to come off on them to change clutch ?
Of course! I’m doing the clutch kit, flywheel, slave cylinder, gearbox seals, fork and pin👍🏻

Ring gaps are in Haynes manual but no oil clearances, think you just have to go off of the journal sizes
George making higher performance Coopers from Cat S salvage (maybe you should badge them Cooper GS's)
Was it a cat S ?
@@chriswhite3378 No mate

No I didn’t think it was
Where did you get all the new bits from mate?
Mostly Autodoc, Ebay and Amazon

To refurbish the subframe with all new OEM parts you’re talking in the region of around £500-700 for the parts
Genuine question and not intended to be a criticism but shouldn’t you have the weight of the car on the hubs before you torque them up to the struts?
That’s usually only for things like bushes👍🏻
Proper job, that, George. You've been most thorough. Thanks very much for a really informative video. The car is coming together nicely, something to look back on as a solid educational experience. Onwards and upwards.
Thanks 👍
