    The original walker variants seen in season 1/2 would have wreaked total havoc, being able to climb, move quickly use primitive tools, open doors, remember where they lived combined with operation cobalt and sunset protocols the average person would struggle to survive. The rapid fall makes sense

      The military also has a plan against zombies as "dumb" as that sounds. At least I heard that I have zero experience with anything like that lol. I’ve talked about this(& other zombie based apocalypses like world war z) with some of my buddies that have military backgrounds & their biggest grief is firing on civilians. For example if they had a wall of civilians interspersed with infected it would be hard for them to fire on civilians if they were ordered. Even knowing the bigger picture, that would be the one thing that would cause them to break ranks. (Beyond the desire to be with loved ones in a catastrophe)

    Here is the biggest problem with the entire concept of the zombie apocalypse. Lets use some math here. If 90% of the world population died and became 'the walking dead'. Then for every living man, woman, and child, you would need to 'put down' just 10 zombies each, and you'd solve the problem. Aside from the periodic death from illness, or accident, if everyone was responsible to put down just 10 deaders, there wouldn't be a threat. Between Rick's group, The Saviors, the Governor, the remnants of the military, the wolves, terminus group, the claimers, the vatos, the hospital police, and just about every other group we've seen in the show, there is no way that they haven't cleared 100,000 in just the first year.
    By the end of year 10, that's around a million, and that's just assuming the groups that we see in the show... Not counting the ones that get eaten by dogs, fall off of buildings, or end themselves by getting swept into a river, or whatever situation. We have to presume that there are 'Ricks' and 'Negans' and 'Governors' in just about every county and/or state. If the ones we see in the show can take out 100,000, then the apocalypse would only last about a year... if that long. More like a few months.
    Just 10 each... If the world population is 8.1 Billion, the 90% would be about 7.29 Billion zombies, to 810 million living.
    Just 10... just sayin'. Now, sure, you might have to go 'hunting' for that last million, (trapped in buildings, wells, vehicles), but the survivors of all groups could focus on rebuilding society, in about a year, without a thought about zombies at all.

    We talked about this before. Season 2 the guy in the bar was from Philadelphia (were I am) I remember him saying the city fell quickly. Now the city is set up from the skyline to the south of the city which is south Philly and below that is the old navy base which closed in 95 but it was like small town within itself with about 25 retired warships in the marina. The airport is south of the city. Ricks chopper from Virginia would have flown to the south first. The upper parts of the city sadly has the biggest drug open market. Thousands die a month from the bad fentyal epidemic. If this were to happen Philly would fall fast but they easily could seal the south off. Beale's picture has the state flag behind him. And outside the city I believe they truly do have a underground safezone. But regardless do you think Rick will remember everything Dave said in the bar? Especially after waking up in Philadelphia.

    I know what you said, to me, before. Consider, though, that there is a time jump and that the commonwealth, along with other nearby communities gained strength in numbers - that strength in numbers would also be very strong, physically, because of those from the main show, who would take over key positions and know the many obstacles they could face. That would be seen as a challenge to crm. A challenge Morgan and/through Al may find out about.

Not sure if it was ever 100% confirmed that it was CRM because they hadn’t thought that far ahead yet but I like to think it is because of how it made sense to take Rick away at the end of his run on the main show. • @spitfire3797
      @spitfire3797 6 месяцев назад

      CRM did not exist season 1. The United States military and government was actually still a thing after the outbreak all the way till season 6-7. What we saw was a military helicopter what was left of the government. If you take for example the governor in season 3 he visited a squad of active duty soldiers and fooling them and killing them which means the US military still was strong and out there. Then season 6 or 7 Michone and Rick go finding weapons for Negan and they get attacked by a Walker with an Army uniform and a military issued rifle strapped onto him. Same season as well where Abraham found the RPG off that Army soldier. The CRM probably started forming around season 6-7 exactly the time the United States military officially stopped existing even as small units

  • @ishaanparthab4549

    The CRM basically became independent in 2020. As soon as the outbreak started it took a while for power to be transferred from the us government towards the citizens and the remaining military. Eventually the CRM started having control over the whole country as soon as the US government fell.

    The military personnel that did stay at their bases or survival camps would be overrun pretty quickly. Not only because of the zombies but because when you get huge cities full of people scrambling to try and get to refugee camps they would attempt to keep it under control but eventually, people would stop standing in line and getting checked for wounds, they’d push their way in and as the military had to shoot the crowds of people they would turn, then they’d be fucked. The fall would happen pretty quickly and it makes perfect sense. Tens of thousands of people forcing their way into whatever camps are “safe” coupled with the walking dead would be the downfall of the military.

    My theory had always been a pure mathematical one.
    Keep in mind these are modern numbers but it still gets my idea across
    In a country like the US less than 8,000 die a day with each of them getting back up and increasing the numbers, then theres countries like the republic of china who less than 30,000 people a day die, again getting back up and killing, India with just over 25,000 people a day, so my idea is that unless these countries can put these walkers down as soon as they arrive, they will start to overtake and people didn’t know early on that you already have the virus and it doesn’t matter how you die so long as your head is intact.
    So cause of this lack of knowledge they would try stopping travel, but all that would do would delay arrival of essential medicines treatments that again adds to the numbers, imagine all the people on life support once the power goes out, a hoard of zombies made in a instant, so put simply because the number of humans was too numerous we couldn’t stop it, its only now we have these small localised governments like Civic Republic and commonwealth and settlements like Alexandria and hilltop that a monitorable population is possible, less people leading to less conflict and also you can keep an eye on the weak and infirm, take them to specialised care homes where they can live out the rest of their life in peace before getting a blade to the skull, like we saw in world beyond.

    It would make sense that Philadelphia would have the site for some sort of contingency, especially with naval base there it would have been easy to secure in the beginning, and since for a time it was the capital of the US it would be a good as place as ever for a new government to form after the fall of DC, especially if they would have been able to rally the remnants of the military, though if they were an part of the contingency they spent a very long time hiding even from other safe zones that still exist like Alexandra, like a year or two i could understand but over a decade? Really i mean think about it, we know during that time countless groups and settlements had both risen and fallen, yet the civic Republic or at least the crm seemed willing to not only watch everything burned to the ground, but they watched as them ember died out as well.
    Also still curious about Hawaii and the navy

    • @Baldwin-iv445
      @Baldwin-iv445 Месяц назад

      There's probably not much hope. The Hawaiian islands are already overcrowded and would more than likely have almost everyone wiped out with nowhere to go, trapped in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
      The Navy meanwhile wouldn't last long either. Ships can only remain at sea for so long without logistics. And with every world government collapsing, most vessels would likely be scuttled by the crew once fuel or food ran out. Nuclear powered vessels like super carriers and certain submarines would only last so long as well since they'd have to make landfall to get more supplies. The best chance of Navy remnants existing would be on coastal settlements since they couldn't remain at sea forever. Assuming the crews hadn't already abandoned ship from a walker outbreak.

      @TWDExplained  8 месяцев назад

      Zombie stories have a need to "quash the military" for plot and story - it's just the nature of the genre. But, I think the TWD story also tries to imply - it was the living, turning on the living, that eliminated options.

      Now that you mentioned it, I think it’s kind of the point for both stories. I’m just saying that because in the both worlds human beings tend to turn on each other for the sake of survival it also displays different personality types. Those were adapted survival those were not.

    The answer is: even with the CDC giving some form of untested zombie advice, no civilisation is set up to deal with such a fast spreading and aggressive virus, no human is set up to do what's needed in that situation on day one, why? You still think the undead is human and that stays your blade.
    We just dont have the infrastructure to deal with a virus that can kill in seconds and reanimate in a shorter time, no hospital is set up to deal with this, why? They have no way of effectively dealing with the ressurected without allowing it to spread, the hospital in the pilot showed they locked the ressurected in a room and sealed it, proving what i just said.
    The miltary would fold. There is no way people would believe any soldier in that situation would fight to the last man in a losing battle, they'd start leaving and would go AWOL, grab what equipment, ammunition, fuel and a vehicle to save their hides and their family. We all would do it, the difference is the top brass did that at least 24 hours before.
    Police and emergency services would do the same, Rick did, tbf he wanted to maintain the law he vowed to uphold.
    That's why everything fell, as the undead outbreak gets worse, you can't keep up with the effective disposal methods needed to maintain the low undead numbers needed to hold the line before delivering an effecive total eradication method.
    If you can't keep on top of killing the brains of the fallen, you emd up adding to their numbers, not taking from it.
    This is what all people go through, the refusal to kill their ressurected loved ones or refusing to kill those ressurected under medical care (see the hospital door), thus adding to the undead legion, too late do people harden their hearts and kill the brain of the dead.
    It's probably not an answer people want to hear, but think about it. We have a choice in this situation, we either harden our hearts on day one or lose everything.

    An interesting theory for discussion.
    I do think there were a number of contingency plans. Many of the government officials and some of the military would have been evacuated to "safe" locations and the CRM base in Philadelphia could be one of those. However, my thoughts are that there would be several of these locations, not just one
    The Civic Republic and the CRM likely grew from one (or more of these) safe zones.
    I don't think the CR/CRM was directly responsible for initiaing Project Cobalt. The military was simply following protocol. Once the safe zones were getting over run, Project Cobalt was initiated and they bombed the cities, and then the military evacuated to specific bases.
    They haven't really gotten into (enough) specifics, but it seems that some of the cities (like Portland, Omaha) were Civic Republic and some (Philly) were CRM. My own impression about the CRM wiping out Omaha and the Campus Colony wasn't about a shortage of supplies. Rather it was a way of trying to keep control instead of allowing the Civic Republic was going to take over the leadership

    The Civic Republic seems to have outposts dotted all across America.
    You'd have to. A walled off section of Philadelphia isn't gonna get you enough food. You need propper livestock pastures and big stretches of farm land to feed a quarter million people.
    Their cutesy little raised bed gardens ain't gonna cut it, they need GRAIN. And it's unsanitary to have livestock too internixed with residentisl areas. There's a reason we have zoning laws.
    Not to mention fuel or having a communications network. Radio can only broadcast so far.
    Certain goods need to be manufactured, so they probably have some industrial facilities secured.
    And Okafor was right in the Ones Who Live premiere: it's just not gonna be feasible to expand any farther with the level of paranoid secrecy and brutality they operate under.
    They need to be having babies and growing their population, and educating children with the knowledge and skills to keep modern society going before the few who still know how to do it all get old and die.
    They're insane to have newcomers piss away six childbearing years out doing the grunt work.
