I was encouraged to report a rape when I was younger. Took me 5 years to even tell anyone it happened and when I made a statement the guy actually followed me into the station and turned the whole thing around. The finger was then pointed at me and I was told that he did nothing and that what I was accusing him off was very serious. I dropped it and left in tears. No one wanted to believe it....much easier to just shove it under the rug but the damage that does is staggering.
If he raped you and he get away with it that means he probably will rape someone else, so my personal advice would be that if you can hire a private detective to spy on him and later on catch him on the act, i am not sure if it would work but i thought it would motivate you don't give up and look for another way. Good luck lady.
I'm so sorry 💔 I just reported a week and two days ago. It happened in February 2021. The two men that raped me are seen as very honorable... One is a sheriff officer of the county I live in. I have little evidence and I Know the influence they both have with the "LAWMAKERS" of the area I live in. I know exactly how you feel. I can't sleep I can't barely eat, I've lost eight pounds, my nervous system is pretty bad right now. I confronted one of them and I feel it's the worse decision I made. I honestly fear for my life !
The issue is you didn't tell it right when it happened. You can't expect someone to believe you on something that has no proof it happened. Saying something years later usualy means its made up and the justice can only work on evidence, not acusations with no evidence. Movements Like Metoo and Believe all women cause as much harm to the people as they do good. Liars and narcisists use such movements to ruin peoples careers and they know it very well. They hurt real victims to destroy people they hate.
I wasn't brave enough to report it. I was scared that his friends and students around my school would turn against me, I was scared not to be believed, I realized what actually happened when it was too late, scared that he (my ex who raped me) would commit suicide (he threatened to do it).
It isn’t you ‘weren’t brave enough’. ❤ We have to take care of ourselves. You have been forced into a position you didn’t choose to be in, to make such a big decision. Sometimes reporting is helpful, sadly sometimes it’s so traumatic at the end, if you could choose you wouldn’t chose to go through all that again. ❤❤❤
Thank you for this video. My niece was raped in a school toilet by a boy last year. The school protected the boy. The parents had to fight to get him expelled. I know a lady that was also raped in a school toilet as a child by a boy. And my old school friend was raped by a boy in our class. How this boy bragged to his male school friends about what he did to her. The amount of women I know that have been abused as children, or raped in adulthood, or both is truly shocking. SO I BEG OF YOU TO PLEASE STOP UNISEX TOILETS. WE LIVE IN A COUNTRY THAT IS TOTALLY HEARTLESS. THE BULLIES ALWAYS GET AWAY SCOTT FREE! UNISEX TOILETS WILL GIVE BAD MEN MORE POWER TO RAPE. Thankfully, I know lots of wonderful, good men. But we cannot ignore the bad ones!
I give my condolences to your family and friends for their hardships and hope they can find happiness. But hope you know that some people will find your comment transphobic and bigoted. I agree with you I just hope your ok with that.
I believe we are not taught in schools about anything about reporting simple assult and sexual violence, thus when it comes to it , people often times have false beliefs about the system/don't think about reporting/think they are bad people if they do/ other things which lowers the odds. Highschool health classes should take us through the steps of how the police/judicial system works and encourage us to call the police/file reports if we've been unlawfully victimized. The system is there, to deal with it for the most part. I just feel we are not conditioned to use it.
I was sexually assaulted when I was 13 by my stepfather and I am now 20 and still fighting the justice system to get my freedom and fighting myself while he lives on freely with his life ...they gave me an option to go to court but if I knew it was gonna take this long just to keep repeating and living it then I would have said no but now I can’t drop this case because “the state picked up the court” and I’m fighting and fighting but this justice system is ridiculous so If my court gets delayed again I’m thinking about protesting at Harris county court house because I deserve freedom and I should be heard
For the people who know their attackers and don't report, they know the police will do nothing and the law can never stop the attacker from coming back and silence you forever. This happens a lot. That's why you should just get a gun and shoot your attacker. Get a gun, learn to use it. And train with it and you'll be a hardened target. Stop asking others to be a victim by being anti-gun. You are your own first line of defense.
Guess what: I reported how i was abused as a 6year old boy. The police came, declared me a potential danger and disarmed me. I got over 40 death threats since i was disarmed. Maybe i should have shot the cops first...
@@thenaturalpeoplesbureau I never said to shoot the police. I'm just saying they won't do anything to help you because the Supreme Court's have ruled that the police does not have any obligations to protect you from danger or harm. That's why the officers during the Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida shootings had done nothing wrong. Officers do not protect the public, only those in their custody(criminals). I'm saying, if your a victim, you should learn to defend yourself with a gun and not rely on the police to defend you in the future. You must be stupid to think I was insisting people shoot the police for no stupid reason. I'm saying defend yourself from future potential attack. And if your mentality is to shoot police because I suggest you learn how to handle a gun in the correct way by training and taking the necessary actions to protect yourself. Then you deserve to be disarmed.
I can relate with the guy... When one goes against people with power/ influence, the chances of being believed are very slim. I relate to all of them. What the girl said about how a victim is SUPPOSE to behave, is so true. I for sure would not shed a tear if I were in trail. I don't think I have any left, and if I did, I would not give them the satisfaction of seeing me broken!! My gynecologist and my therapist have been my biggest supporters. The law hasn't helped me at all! This happened months ago, and it was only yesterday when I told one of my sisters. She was so terribly hurt that I am hesitating telling my oldest sister. She has always seen me as a daughter more than a sister.
I reported and I’m now fighting with my cities police for them not doing proper steps towards my rape case. Now I’m taking my case to state but idk how to prosecuted my own city police 😭
I woke up with sperm dribbling down my thigh, I asked him if he had sex with me while asleep. He said he didn't want to wake me up and just helped himself. From that day something died inside me. We were on a holiday and didn't want to spoil it. 3yrs on, I am struggling with flashbacks, unable to cope and function. I started sleeping with my clothes on, opting to sleep on the couch many times. He still doesn't feel any remorse and tells me I am crazy, it didn't happen, yet I relive the experience daily. I am in therapy just to try and find closure. I now know a sleeping woman cannot consent to sex and what he did was wrong. I feel disgusted in my own body and hope one day the memories can disappear and not hurt me daily 😭😭😭 I still haven't reported it, I feel it's too late and he will get away with it.
DO NOT DELAY REPORTING SEX CRIMES. Longer you take to come forward, the harder it is to gather evidence and raise charges. Cause some cases are very brutal and victims get only blamed and a pathetically small compensation. And some are less brutal and "the perfect victim" gets ten times More in compensation for a less brutal case....
Its crazy because there's empathy for the perpetrator by law. If the perpetrator "thinks you've consented" which can be excused by anything. They say its not criminal. If you don't speak up in the moment its happening, its basically consenting
I'm more interested in the statistics on false rape allegations which latest study show are way higher than the common narrative. You will hear with great regularity that it's 2% to 8% but if you do you're own digging you will come up with figures as high as 40%. All these conflicting figures point to the need for more research and openess which should include either the naming of accusers and defendants or the anonymity of both.
It's innocent until proven guilty, or at least it's supposed to be, so I find it very disturbing how you assume that mere accusations should always result in convictions. Even if the man innocent, the accusation alone is enough to completely ruin his life. This new sexual assault against women standard is also making lite of real rape victims, because now women consider nearly any type of unwanted advances as rape. Stop calling it rape when someone cat calls you, because you're taking the seriousness away from actual rape.
