The Carpenters are so musically gifted. Karen’s stunning vocals/drumming and Richard’s composition and piano. Thank you for your reaction of this gorgeous song from the 70’s.
They give you a heavenly feel!
Just think they were around your age here…I think you’ll come around…appreciate it!

Thank you for your reaction to this Carpenters song from 1970. I hope you would also react to their song, "We've Only Just Begun" - thank you. Peace.

When I was a kid, we made fun of my sister for liking the Carpenters. But now that I am older, I can really appreciate Karen Carpenter's beautiful voice.

An honest and GENUINE (please note spelling 😜) response. Nice but not your genre. Fair enough.
You seemed to like the musicianship - I think the trumpet solo was spot on and music was such that it let you hear Karen's voice. Some contemporary artists could learn a thing or two from that simple lesson.
You may have seen my recent post about another Carpenters song on 'a related site' shall we say, so I won't repeat all that here.
This was pretty much the world's introduction to The Carpenters and Karen's sweet voice. And as a drummer, she was also outstanding. Again, it makes it all the sadder that she left us at age 32. 😭
Not all their songs are happy. Indeed my aforementioned response was to "Superstar", and there are songs like "Rainy Days and Mondays", "Solitaire" (Neil Sedaka cover), "Goodbye To Love", but there are plenty of happier ones, too.

FYI, Karen Carpenter was a world class jazz drummer and she was a pitch perfect contralto known for her ability to record everything in one take. Pure talent and sorely missed as she died at the age of 32 from anorexia.😢

That was a perfect reaction, I don’t get any negativity I saw? It’s a beautiful song not a rockin’ jammer. The category back in the day was Adult Contemporary/Easy Listening. Soft Rock also. They did mix it up and Jazzed it up at times. The musicianship was top of the top. Richard was one hell of an arranger. Karen the voice of voices, a Contralto with a 3.5 octave range. She generally sang in her Alto range and dug deep occasionally. Richard called it The Basement. You could feel when she went low, in your chest. Not like Floor, that’s just nuts. Karen died at 32 in 1983 from complications of Anorexia Nervosa. Richard just turned 78.
This was a promo video, a lip sync. Hard to tell but it was the album track. I’m going to give you two links. On is a fully live performance of the Carpenters on The Tonight Show in 1973. It features Karen on drums and singing live. The song was Mr. Guder a cut from the same album Close To You.

It is from a channel of my friend Harvey. He’s been restoring Carpenters videos and saving them. He’s done amazing work. I’ve seen this video previously and it was barely watchable. Now it looks like it aired on TV yesterday.
You also made mention of singers today and the poor quality. They all use pitch correction or AutoTune and sound robotic, to me. I’m following a 21 year old who uses none of that. A natural singer that has teamed up with some amazing musicians to make some beautiful songs. She does cover Carpenters but since your journey has only just begun. I’ll give you an example that is slightly related but showcases her beautiful voice. Natural voice. Her name is Tori Holub (Hah Luhbb) the song is a Perry Como classic from 1970. “It’s Impossible” (Not Rock ‘n Roll 😊)

I hope you enjoy your Carpenters rabbit hole and check out Tori, too. I do notice for the amount of subscribers you have, this Carpenters song brought in a lot of views quickly. That’s The Carpenters Army finding you. Some others that will help you build your new channel are The Warning, Angelina Jordan and Dimash. They have big loyal followings. Good luck!

I think you hit the nail on the head with your description of much of today's "music" as nonsense. Sex, greed, drugs, violence, and the occult - that about covers it. Singers could actually sing back then, no auto tuning.

Mr. "Creeaction" identified himself as a musician and artist. I don't know who he is nor why I should care about what he thinks about the works of the legendary Carpenters. It's shameful to leverage the works of others for your benefit. I hope Mr. "Creeaction" chooses to do something respectable.
