My God these simple TV News call sign spots can bring back so much joy to all of us who grew up watching them..This will always bring me back to the house I grew up in downstairs eating cereal watching cartoons... My Dear God it all goes by so fast!!!. Thank You for sharing this.
Main Promo #3 for me -- that's my wheelhouse. Growing up watching cartoons, 70s shows in syndication, and Yankee baseball. And yes, it does tug on the heart strings -- amazing how it does.
Wow I LOVE this!! Suddenly I am back home and its 1977 once again! So simple, so NYC, SO 1970S!! so many YANKEE games and movies were watched on WPIX 11 during those times. I love the simplicity of these old television ads and thats what makes them special! Nothing complicated. You got to love YOU-TUBE for that! What a GREAT memory and how I remember those days gone by.....................Thanks for posting my friend! 11 ALIVE!!.............
Thank You WPIX for being apart of life !!! I grew up with you guys in Upstate N.Y. (Utica,NY) & y'all made my childhood wonderful !!! Although I was born in Chicago grew up with WFLD (Channel 32), WPIX was & still apart of childhood into adulthood & for that I Thank You !!!
Plenty memories I was in grade school in Brooklyn and remember coming home to watch channel 11 it was afternoon cartoons and these songs would play thanks for the memories
I wouldn't give up the memories of these jingles for all the gold in fort Knox the thing's we cherish in our lives can't be measured by weath at least not too me
This brought back memories. When I was a college student commuting from home, my end-of-evening routine was to watch the repeats of "The Honeymooners" at 11 and "Burns and Allen" at 11.30, and then to bed. I'd usually catch the last few minutes of the news (10.00), and frequently saw a commercial with Version 1 or 1A. It does have a very late-'60s sort of uplift, while Version 2, with its dark sax, is more firmly '70s.
Thanks for trip down memory lane! Now if you can only find a CLEAN cut of the claymation Chiller Theater opening and bumper. Been searching for a nice cut of that for decades.
They cut a special version of promo #2 (around 1:15) to promote the Yankees. "Hey look at that shot they are really groovin whackin that horsehide harder those Yankees are alive..."
If I ever come across anything new to put up. Tape trading seems to be a dead art form, and nobody sells VHS at yard sales any more. Until then, it's gonna have to be left to chance.
I'm curious as to whether or not the PIX Archives still hold their 1949 test pattern design with the white "pinholes" within the centers of the vertical and horizontal wedges, that ran well into the mid-to-late 1970's - and is as much an institution as all the shows and personalities the station spotlighted over its history - and all the elements like these that came together as they did.
2:00 - Edit point 'in' for the endpage. For YEARS.... Hated the arrangement/bad studio recording and vocal mix that was too loud. Even now hearing it as 'master quality' - it's more glaring! 4:16 - This track also, heard for YEARS... copped a chord change heard in the ABC at the Movies teaser theme... where's Travolta doing his dance?
Funny! I am here to comment that the last two chords at the end of this video (maybe in a different key) are the intro cadence chords for "The Simpsons!"
Have you found out what those jingles were used for? Otherwise, maybe you could contact someone who worked at WPIX or request a looks through their archives?
As you mostly post stuff that WPIX-related, I wonder if you'll happen to have Non-Stop Music's "WPIX Custom News Package" including cuts from the 1998 update? Since Matt Jackson will want that one!

What a wonderful time it was back in the good ol 70's
It's videos like this that make RUclips a great thing.

Now THAT..........is Old School!
Back when making jingles and investing in your brand wasn't seen as a waste of time and money
#1 and #1A were definitely used in 1975 -- I remember the apartment where I saw the ads with those Promo Beds, and I only lived there in '75.
I use to love this song as a kid living in NYC

REAL STUDIO TIME, REAL INSTRUMENTS, *REAL* SINGERS... ALLLL FOR A TV STATION. THE 70S was NO JOKE
The 70s was also the disc era @anwarphilip7460
I remember this song theme from Channel 11 in 1976. I was only 7 years old.
This is bringing tears to my eyes
The Main Promo #3 is the one that made WPIX shine in the 80's in my opinion and my favorite.
LOVE THIS THEME!!😀😃💯💯👋👌🤛🤜
Main Promo 2 is hands down my favorite. a lot of great memories of childhood.
Nah. Main promo bed #3 is my fav. Just adjust the speed to 1.25 and you'll be dancing.
This was my go to Network as a Kid. Watching all of my favorite Cartoons and other good TV programs and movies.
Plenty memories I was in grade school in Brooklyn and remember coming home to watch channel 11 it was afternoon cartoons and these songs would play thanks for the memories
I remember all the promos, thank you for posting this, one of the best independent tv stations on the planet
I wouldn't give up the memories of these jingles for all the gold in fort Knox the thing's we cherish in our lives can't be measured by weath at least not too me

Especially the first two themes!
September 1976 was when they started using the "11 Alive" brand.
Thanks for trip down memory lane!
Now if you can only find a CLEAN cut of the claymation Chiller Theater opening and bumper.
Been searching for a nice cut of that for decades.
Brings back memories
Brings back memories of my younger days
After watching this I feel like I am 10 again - great memories!!
Something warm and fuzzy about these promo beds. Great stuff!
Yeah, wish they bring them back!
They cut a special version of promo #2 (around 1:15) to promote the Yankees. "Hey look at that shot they are really groovin whackin that horsehide harder those Yankees are alive..."
11 Alive is sill alive in Atlanta.
My favorite of wpix-tv 11 alive is chiller some godzilla films i love it thanks
In Pittsburgh our channel 11 station went by the call letters WPXI and still does today .
Dude we are old.
These are so cool!
if my memorry serves me correct this was 1976
1:08 They had a promo for the Yankee games using this song using different lyrics.
Happy 71 yrs,Wpix.
1:39 Everyone sing it with me. ALLOOOOOIIIIIIVE!
I remember all of them
11 Alive was in 1976 until about the mid eighties
Super 70's fun in Brooklyn N.Y.!🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks so much for the great memories!
1976 to somewhere in the mid 80's
I don't think the logo at 0:38 is from the 70s. That was the "edgier" early 80s redesign.
Main promo bed #3 is my fav. Just crank the speed to 1.25, and you'll be dancin and groovin.
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔I trusted it and it is more sparta remixable than danceable
Memorable... classic... and just great! Thanks for uploading.❤
why does channel 11 call Them selves 11 Alive ?
Oh my god this brings tears :(
Any Other Stations Used The "Alive" Package? I Notice About WPIX and KENS.
WXIA in Atlanta also used the "Alive" package between 1976 and 1980, when they swapped network affiliations with WSB-TV.
Cool.
KOCO in Oklahoma City, a sister of WXIA.
KENS had “TV-FIVE ALLLIVEEEE!!!”
Hey, are you going to upload anymore video and audio clips on your youtube channel?

Wasn't this the same station that displayed a card with the word "shame" hand-written on it for 3 hours the day RFK died back in 1968?
Awesome...stuff..now if you can only post up the WPIX Themes used in the 1990s composed by Bob Sakayama..that would be a very rare treat.
Very cool.
Do you have any of the public service announcements that aired on this station from this time?
FUCK YES!!!!!!!! oh god I miss this!

@@garycitro1674Are you referring to 4:37

1-2) 1976
Even back in the 1970s as a kid I thought the 11 Alive promos were awful....
