I remember seeing while back that they were going to remake the first game and remaster the 2nd but a prequel would be nice they have a lot of content for the Witcher series
The only thing I want from this game is for them to add the chain as a witcher tool. It was teased in witcher 1, I STILL think it's an amazing idea. They better add the silver chain.
So you want Kratos-style Chains of Olympus from GoW 1-3? 😂 It becomes very action-packed and monsters lean closer towards the button mashing simulators after that I think? Would be great as a closer to mid/end-game reward.
Don't forget that Ciris "natural" ability is that of a mage or sourceres. And they can use the elemts for their magic. In this case it was water. Which pretty much shows me that she hasn't lost those abilities while she became a full Witcher. However we don't know if she can use that magic as before or it is less or it has changed. But as we talk about a game you have to consider the balancing, Yes you want a character that can kick a*s, but if it's OP the game might become too easy. So I am curious how CD Projekt handles that.
"Going forward, our [marketing] campaigns will be much shorter. We'll wait until much closer to a game's launch before we start showing things like trailers" CDPR, 2021
This is in comparison to cyberpunk which was releasing trailers 7 years before release. So a shorter campaign compared to that could be as much as 5 years.
@@BR-re7oz Technically but that seems to early to me aswell. 4 years is the longest it should be. 3 years is ideal. But considering how much extra money they must've made because of the super long campaign they're doing it because the hype it builds benefits them.
as Fizhy said, it's a thin line they have to walk between managing expectations of the players and those of investors. They gotta try to keep all happy, and we will see if they in turn mislead (as in for example releasing a buggy game) the players
Yeah, they specifically said they're shooting to show trailers 12-18 months before release, with wiggle room to 24 months. Game is expected in 2026. Not sure what you are bitching about
My theory is that she lost her Elder Blood powers when she destroyed the White Frost in the final battle, which is why she's not teleporting in this fight. Nevertheless, she is trained by multiple witchers since childhood and was taught sorcery by Yennefer.
@SahilG23 But she is clearly not a teenager. She wasn't even a teenager I witcher 3. I am excited to see how they mix her knowledge of magic and the signs in the new game
@@HonorGoosemaybe he means not blackwashing shit, like making the Roman emperor a black guy. Redditors and wokeists long have criticised Witcher 3 for not having any real black characters.
@@HonorGoose The main reason why Witcher franchise is so popular in Eastern Europe is its Eastern European Europeanness. Landscapes, nature, villages, faces, characters and their attitudes, music, lore... it all feels home-y compared to any Western game. And it's something which Netflix completely ignored (did not recognize, maybe) and butchered.
That’s 100% valid At least you’re not like _some_ people and going “OH MY GOD, THEY’VE RUINED THE WITCHER! EVERYONE WHO THINKS THIS IS GOOD MUST HAVE BRAIN DAMAGE! THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!” based off a trailer of the game’s concept.
Just a theory and a bit of hope that this game shows Ciri as "a protagonist" like she founded the new Witcher school and you get to make your own unique Witcher. The knowledge for the "Trial of the Grasses" could easily be explained where Geralt discovered how to enhance his abilities with the notes and lab found in Toussai8nt, could even add that Ciri's blood is involved but at the cost of loosing her teleportation powers... Witchers are again needed after the end of Witcher 3 having another Junction of the Spheres happening when Ciri was attempting to end the White Frost..... Well here's to hopeful thinking.
Is it just me, or would anyone else rather play as Ciri? The idea of creating your own Witcher sounds cool, but I can’t lie, the Ciri we see in this trailer seems way better, imo. Am I the only one who feels that way?
@@XxHarambexXI feel like it’s easier to write for an established character as well, whereas a lot of other games have issues when ‘create your own characters’ have really bland and basic personalities (although it’s still possible to pull this off well)
IGN interview with GD confirms Ciri went through the Trial of the Grasses. She’s just starting out & developing her own codex. More player freedom than previous games in choice & play styles.
Wow, a retcon to the lore right off the bat. That isn't gonna split the fanbase right in half at all. The fans will just go along with it, and everything will be fine. Whoever is running CDPR should learn to read the bloody room. Gonna lose a lot of money going that route. Risking the franchise and possibly the studio with these "Creative" decisions.
@lobal2 we know witcher trials are rooted in magic and alchemy, not to mention Geralt got additional mutations (even though he already had more than other witchers as a kid) in blood and wine expansion. So process getting more stable and refined is possible. Look at it as primaris space marines, with initial success rate being significantly lower and rising as the process got more stable. It still won't sit right with a lot of people, but there is room for explanation, if done carefully
@@lobal2you realize ciri is so powerful she could be the only female who could survive the trails right? You aren’t the god of lore. Rules of nature can be changed over time. Even in our real world
@metroplextitan8816 Well, once you get past the "how," then they will have to tackle the "why." Why does ciri need to undergo the trials when she is almost a god-tier character with the elder blood? Once the answer that, they will have to deal with geralt and yen shitting a golden brick over her, risking her life to go through it. These are a lot of hurdles for a group (gamers) that have become very jaded to people manipulating source material to fit their needs. Example: female custodes
Geralt at the end of the trailer "See you on the path", ofc he will appear for a brief interaction.. maybe some kind of mission like the Kaer Morhen defence we saw during W3 or a round of Gwent
@@anteodak2965idk RUclipsr Endymion exposed them awhile ago for having DEI programs for the devs to follow then basically many of cdpr devs swarmed him denying it when their website and RUclips showed DEI programs and what they must go through at cdpr
Because those trailers showed open spaces and had establishing shots. This one feels cramped, like it could have been filmed in a small studio. I'd blame the Unreal Engine.
I think Ciri becoming a full witcher is very disrespectful to the books. The whole series has a theme of fate and destiny. How Ciri was destined to become a Dryad and also a Witcher because she was promised to geralt for saving her parents. But the books basically go against that. And now her becoming a wicher after all of that is just stupid.
What the whole plot of the books is that you can't outrun destiny and if you try it causes problems for everyone. It makes sense that in the end after everything everyone suffered. Destiny wins
Your entire history is a lie. Like literally irl. You think they give a flip about a little revisionist history in a game? I also expect ciri to be black gay and trans.
It’s not the same dev team that we know working on this. They all jumped ship after cyberpunk. This is cd projekt dragon age veilguard made by sweet baby inc.
I watched the show until early morning, and Witcher 4 was the big thing for me, but we are very far away from whatever they will end up doing with that game. We will have plenty of time to enjoy Witcher 3 content for years to come.
I loved asking characters to play Gwent nanoseconds after they told me their traumatic life story. I don’t even really have a thing for Gwent, I’d back out instantly but it’s so daft
Full Development started about 2 months ago according to CDPR. Preproduction started in 2022. We can hope for a 2027 release but 2028 is more likely as there is still a major issue with UE5 & open world size. No problem playing as Ciri. Will be very interesting to see how CDPR explains Ciri having taken the Trial of the Grasses. It looks from the teaser she’s using a mix of magic & signs which could make for some interesting builds.
CD PROJEKT RED is using a highly modified version of Unreal Engine 5. They are working closely with Epic Games engineers and might be miles ahead with this engine by now
idk ciri was already her own character and by the end of Witcher 3 she was mad op with magic powers. there is no reason for her to nerf herself and become a Witcher when her powers are better. a Witcher is more grounded. I would've preferred we make our own Witcher or be someone new entirely.
Not feeling ciri for this. She should be overpowered from her elder blood. Despite this she now has signs and somehow passed the trail of grasses.... Definitely some lore bending here. I'm gonna go in open minded at least until we hear more but off the bat I do worry how this is gonna turn out, especially after cyberpunk and the quality of the industry as a whole right now.
Ciri isn’t a Witcher, even in Witcher 3 I felt like she was a one trick pony, and saying this is the best ending depends on your point of view, I personally think her best ending was her going off to rule
Nah it doesn’t depend on your point of view since ciri never wanted to rule and never wanted to be with “her father”(emgyr) and never liked this kind of lifestyle. So nope, there’s no way that this is the best ending.
Ciri apparently having gone through the trial of the grasses is something I require a good justification for, but what I can absolutely not get behind is how Unreal Engine 5 is looking right now. The facial animations in cyberpunk (even just the game) look better than these. I know that CDPR can do way better than the ones shown here, which makes me worry that it’s much more difficult to make good facial animations on UE5
It's unfortunate that so many games are going towards UE5 as it's stripping a lot of the different art styles, and the TAA adds this uncanny blurriness, and also the bloat and the lag.
@ I don’t mind the look in general, and I think most games could benefit, but with CDPR possibly being the best right now at designint graphically great games, an engine not built by them will feel a bit like a downgrade. I do expect that they will work closely to epic games and create a cdpr version of UE5 just for tw4 though. In the end, I’m sure most of these complaints will be gone. But yeah, was expecting to be more hyped about this than I am currently
The points I find concerning: 1) Trailers got a very typical anti-Patriachy lean to it 2) Ciri is dressed like Geralt, fights like him and uses Witcher spells, so she's not Ciri anymore she's female Geralt 3) That sword isnt the one Geralt gifted her and the weapons design hints towards a more generic fantasy asthetic rather than a Wither one 4) The whole trailer rehashes elements of quests from prior Witcher games and ends on a Killing Monsters refernce, this hints some serious drops in creativity 5) the Witcher potion thing, so CDPR chose to ignore the minor backlash at Ciri using the line about it in blood and wine and quadruple down, really bad sign And on to this all the agenda driven comments from the studio itself and this doesnt bode well, even if you don't believe in that, the lack of originality in the design and storyboarding should be a concern as Ciri using witcher powers alone hints they are using a rehashed combat system rather than a new unique one centered around her powers
Also making her more “manly” doesn’t help. She was beautiful in TW3, very feminine and graceful. She looks good here but they made her look like a different person…
@@lucamigliavacca so true bro. she looks manly and angry. she was screaming and moaning more than the monster itself haha. Geralt was cool calm and stoic. but she looks pissed for some reason. they changed the voice actor and the face. simps argue that she aged, but cmon, it's a fantasy world, she can still look the same regardless of her age. all my hype died from this trailer.
@@vvarrunn yeah, we’ll see how she looks in game. Even Geralt looked different in the cgi trailers but i’m still skeptic. The concept for the game has me somewhat exited, but with what has been going on in the industry these years….. you HAVE to expect something woke in it. They are going to probably ruin Geralt’s character too, hopefully not but there seems to be this trend of destroying and humiliating all the previous fan favourites protagonists. Fingers crossed it won’t happen 🤞
I know it’s probably not wise to buy into the hype but it’s too late. I’m hooked. I won’t lie and say I wasn’t hoping for a Cyberpunk style create a character story but I’m not mad at all to continue Ciri’s story. Geralt’s story is done so idk why people really wanted him back, plus he’s getting a new prequel book. Ciri looks so badass and her being a Witcheress does create some interesting lore possibilities.
Dude, I’m hooked in locked in, I’m excited. Yes, Gerald’s story has ended he now wants to pass up the mantle over to his adoptive daughter, Ciri. He’s probably living in his home with either triss or yen knowing ciri was trained under the best Witcher & sorc
TLDR: Witcher 4 starring Ciri is likely to end up like Rings of Power starring Galadriel, warrior queen. A witcher without the trials is not a witcher. Captain America without the super serum isnt captain america. Rey skywalker isnt a skywalker when she is a palpatine. This is more modern tripe for a modern audience that doesnt exist. CDProjectRed, like most other AAA corporate giants, has shifted from making great games to resting on their laurels, and letting the reputation carry their name, while their work quality diminishes, and they will be propped up by blind or delusional fans like yourself whom they will milk dry. I am not against Ciri as the protagonist, or a Witcher story without geralt (but dont call it Witcher 4 then), however I have seen this story before, and it ends with permanent brand damage, corporate backpedaling, and disappointed fans. Everyone wanted Witcher 4. Everyone wanted more lore and story. Most fans wanted to play as their own witcher, or one rich deep in the lore. Except for a minority, no one wanted to play as Ciri roleplaying a witcher because she happened to know geralt. We need a prequel in a world rich with monsters and problems, not Ciri after she saved the world, in a world repeatedly reinforced to be deplete of monsters and villains (other than mankind).
Because geralt rocks! There were tons of stories left for geralt, but i'm not against using ciri though i am just glad it's continuing from the third game!
Certainly Ciri has undergone some sort of Witcher mutation. She must have had to in order to consume the potion, which in TW3 she couldn't. I'm seeing cat eyes, though they seem to be green, not yellow. She's clearly casting signs, Igni and Quen or possibly Aard, but what's the lightning one that seems to be dependent on a water source, a spell? She definitely has the super-human reflexes, another gift of the mutations. But something to note is that she isn't using any of her Elder Blood abilities. No teleportation. Why? Did the mutations rid her of her Elder Blood and in turn her own abilities? That would certainly stop any horny elves from wanting to marry her and Crones wanting to eat her feet. Perhaps she was only able to survive the mutations because of her Elder Blood, essentially trading it and her powers for the mutations. Personally, I'm split minded. I'm kinda disappointed we aren't closing the book on Geralt and his family and not being taken fifty years into the future and starting all over again with brand new characters. It feels kinda ... predictable that we'll be playing as Ciri. But at the same time we are essentially playing as a brand new Witcher because Ciri, up until now, hasn't been a Witcher. So, yeah, it checks the box for wanting a new Witcher protagonist and maybe having a familiar character becoming something new will pay off. I just hope to fuck that isn't Velen. Do not tell me we're going back to that swamp! I say that because Ciri has unfinished business in that damned swamp. Weavess is still alive at the end of TW3 now that the Witcher ending is canon. There's no way Ciri isn't going to go after her. In fact, what we're seeing in this trailer is a bunch of dumbass peasants sacrificing a pretty young woman to a monster that they see as a god. Haven't we seen that before!? A monster that has a beak and multiple limbs... could this monster actually be Weavess? Is that why Ciri is even there?
I agree on not being hyped for ciri being the protagonist, it doesn't make sense women don't survive the trials. I choose the empress ending because it made the most sense and the most mature. I disagree on creating your own witcher as you can't have the same level as quality with an established character like Geralt compared to your own character like in skyrim.
@xenoplayz4524 Imagine getting to choose between a couple of witchers, everyone has his own story and makes replaying more intersting. Something like that was what I hoped the game would be. How they did it in Skyrim was shit. That's true
Even if you got the Ciri Witcher ending all the way back when the game released, pretty much confirmed that Ciri is going to be the next main character, it was obvious. They ain't just gonna side line a major important character to a throne when she has only just been introduced to the games. Witcher ending reveals all if you listen to the words, even back in 2015. And yes, she will be the main character for the whole trilogy. Seems there is a thing nowadays where people don't like playing as a female. Creating your own Witcher is also stupid. Just saying. This take seems to be everywhere. Witcher universe will never be like that.
Custom characters are boring and you can't use them properly in marketing. Geralt is known even to people who don't play witcher. You have many other games with custom characters, why to change something established in witcher.
@@ArcticVXR1 In the books its mentioned women have a 0% survival rate during the trials which is why boys are chosen at a young age. Ciri is a fully grown female adult. It's got nothing to do with being a female, i actually prefer female V for example in cyberpunk. It just doesn't make sense for Ciri to become a Witcher. The devs could have followed another witcher, maybe a prequel with Vesimir.
This trailer made me sad. I’m not interested in playing *another* confident female warrior/soldier girlboss, nevermind Ciri. I really like her as a character, but she’s too loud and unique a personality for an RPG protagonist. Sadly, it seems they have made her grim and miserable like Geralt to make her fit a more silent role. That just makes her character depressing, like she clearly made the wrong choice becoming a Witcher. The trailer’s story was also quite generic and it came across as more of a rehash of the ‘Killing Monsters’ trailer than an homage. Even then, that trailer was mocked *in Witcher 3* for being a bit over dramatic. Maybe they’ll do the same in Witcher 4, but then that’s literally just rehashing the Witcher 3.
Anyone trying to find a way for how she was able to survival the trials, that break lore, you're thinking too hard, they just want a witcher woman so they made it possible. Thats the explanation
My best guest is that the witcher four will release two years from now around this time of 2026 because looking at cdpr marketing in the past, the witcher 3 was revealed in 2013, and Cyberpunk not counting the first tesser was reveald in 2018.
I can't really say I'm really excited for this, they're undoing some pretty established lore by making Ciri a full-blown witcher, which I'm never a fan of. In any case, I'm sure it'll be beautiful and I'll give it a go
It was so obvious that Ciri would be the next playable character, Geralt achieved his happy ending and I just hope the studio respects that and doesn't rope him in for nostalgia bait.
Finally a decent take, alot of the reaction i've been seeing to this is "muh woke" "hur dhur dei" Like I honestly think 90% of these people never played a witcher game and lost their minds after seeing a female protag.
@Just_abigheadnoob We do have good reason to be wary of Wokeness, those concerns are not out of the question Ciri didn't need that to be a good character, she stood on her own attributes, and I hope they don't turn her into the "modern strong female" trope thing.
My only “problem” with the trailer (it’s not really a problem) is her voice. I feel it’s too different from her voice in W3. It would make sense if this was 10 or 15 years after W3, but CDPR has confirmed that Ciri is still in her “early years” of being a Witcher. So by that logic it’s only a few years tops after the W3 ending. And I don’t think her voice would change so much in maybe 3-5 years. Since she was already around 19 in W3
@@Agent_3141 it seems you’ve fallen for some in universe propaganda friend Witchers are not emotionless Otherwise we wouldn’t have half of the Witcher content we do
I get the disappointment though. Ciri’s va from 3 was really good. That said, me personally, I think I like this voice better for this game. I can take her a little more seriously with the deeper, sterner voice than I could with her previous voice.
@@Agent_3141 I think that mostly boils down to the individual Witcher or more likely how they’re raised Eskel if I remember correctly was pretty expressive, I think he’s the one who suggested they play the drinking game in Kaer Morhen But I can see an argument being made that the mutagens mute their emotions as it probably would make them more effective monster slayers.
my only concern is that, she has her blood magic and she is OP, no one wants to play as an OP character. Now people calling her ugly... lol anime games exist, go fap there.
Just a reminder to everyone that CD has put more work into their development. Basically they're putting more time into pre-development and less time into full-scale development. If what they say is correct, they will be spending around 2 years on full-scale development Basically, they already know the story, characters, and features that are in the game, now they're just actually going all in on it. If the leaks are true, they already have this stuff ready and even some parts of the game playable to test it. Also they're using UE5 which makes the process easier. Man I can't wait
This is the 2nd video I've seen where someone says that the trailer canonizes a particular W3 ending, but I don't see it. Maybe she decided she didn't want to be Empress of Nilfgard and escaped. The ending where she disappears has always had room for interpretation - maybe she was too exhausted to return quickly and reappears after a few months or years. They may do something like they did in W3 to fill in the blanks from the previous game - have someone talk with Ciri about what happened and adjust things in the new game accordingly.
CD Projekt confirming that Ciri went through the trial of grasses is a total slap to the lore of the Witcher. But judging by all the DEI rumours, it's not surprising. The very reason why it is children who participate in the trial of grasses is because their bodies are undeveloped at this stage, so it is easier to 'rebuild' them. And even with that, no Girl ever survived even the first step of the trial of grass, and just 2 out of 10 boys survived it. Furthermore, Ciri can't use Witcher signs or magic. Yennefer starts to lecture her, but after the accident in the desert (yes, book stuff), she never loses any ability to use classical music everagain. She just survived to drawn magical energy from fire by renouncing to the magic at all, Witcher signs are the lowest and simplest expression of magic, but also magic. Ciri only can use the gift of her blood what is the ability to walk between worlds and even time. What we can see in this Trailer is BS Fan Fiction breaking the lore and giving a sh*t on the source material. This looks like virtue signalling slop, just like many other games today.
I agree with the point you made about specifically children undergoing the trials so they can be easily molded into a Witcher, this trailer does go against that lore detail. However, I think in ciris case they could figure a way for her to survive the trials given how powerful we know her to be. Maybe it could have something to do with the elder blood or something. And, granted she’s passed the trials, does it not make sense then sequentially that she’s able to learn the spells? There are definitely some loose ends here that need to be tied up, but let’s not jump the gun with the whole DEI woke stuff just yet okay. Remember, these series of games, while faithful to the lore of the books, are an original story.
@@anthonybarnes706 Problem is the Trails of Grasses books are lost and people who knew it are dead thats why Witchers are so few and dying breed. Also you cannot compare it to mutations which Geralt had in Witcher 3 Blood and Wine because those mutations were specified to enhance mutagen use. The trail in itself is so taxing on adult body that even Avalach barely made it and he is Elven Sage from Aen Aelle. He was able to shutdown Ciri when she went completely off in Battle of Kaer Morhen. So this is a big retcon. People wanted to see new Witcher when they told us that Geralt story is finished and instead they are making a sequel without Geralt and with Ciri. There were many different witchers in games and books who were amazing and worthy of game. Gaetan, Letho, Coen, Gerd or Warrit who was blind and used Heliotrope sign as echolocator how cool is that ??
@@COOLPEAK what? What kind of brain dead comment is this? How do you know they know more? The Witcher 3 devs are gone. You’re willing to bet all these new devs played every game? Read every book? How daft of you.
I'm gonna go against the grain here and say Ciri looks good. In fact, she looks more real & battle worn, but she is still beautiful. What made the trailer cringe for me, is that Ciri used more of her physicality rather than magic to deal with that creature. The problem is that the "girl-boss" who fights like a man or better than a man HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH.
What I REALLY liked about the trailer is the continuity. 1. Ciri uses her TW3 Swallow sword. 2. Ciri uses the steel sword geralt had in all the E3, VGX and cinematic trailers. 3. Ciri wears a hybrid Undvik armour, looking like her alternate TW3 skin and Geralt's relic armor set. On the other hand, they CLEARLY wanted to appeal NETFLIX fans with the: 1. Blacked eyes after a potion. 2. Spider-like monster. That I don't like at all, of course.
Siri was always gonna be the protagonist if they didn’t decide to take on a new character. I did notice one inconsistency. Ciri using Witcher potions is odd even though she has elder blood she is still just human. And it is well known girls can’t handle the Witcher mutations so they need to explain that in a way that makes sense, as far as Witcher signs if I’m not mistaken anyone can cast Witcher signs, mages actually look down on Witcher signs as basic magic that even a monkey can learn.
I really don’t envy a game studio having to follow up arguably the greatest game ever made. That being said, I like what I see. I’m mature enough to not expect Witcher 3 levels of nuance or charm, but a really good game can be made on the premise of what the Witcher 4 is showing here. I’m optimistic and excited for more.
I played witcher game to be a witcher, feel the lore experience the rough roads, a tough monster like ugly looking heavy old guys create bonds with sorcerers. I dont wanna play a teen princess super hero in a medieval world. I am no longer hyped for the game that was on top of my wishlist. Now i just hope after failing they realize it soon enough that without a witcher as the lore suggest an old man.. this game is just super hero medieval game.
Unfortunately, while I love all the Witcher games, the idea of Ciri as the protagonist in Witcher 4 doesn't really excite me. One of the worst gameplay experiences in Witcher 3 was when you had to play as Ciri for an uncomfortable amount of time. What's going on with female protagonists these days? I've heard similar things about GTA 6. I hope we have a choice!
Welcome to woke culture. CDPR got money from Blackrock and ESG and it is implementing DEI even after Trump won. Look at her Jaw, like wtf is this? Ciri gonna have them/they pronoun
This is gonna be my own personal theory, but what if "A new saga begins" combined with Ciri's ability to use spells, witcher potions and have Witcher eyes indicate that this Ciri is not the Ciri we know from Witcher 3? And instead another Ciri in an alternate timeline that underwent the Trial of the Grasses?
I initially had an issue with Ciri being the protag due to the open endedness of her story in the Witcher 3, and canonizing one ending leads to the other endings having less of an impact. I'm not mad at their decision tho, I still have my faith in CD Projekt Red that they'll deliver and make protagonist Ciri work.
Not too into the idea of playing as ciri. I don’t really like when they retcon lore to make something different or playable. Should have left all those characters alone and started a new story with someone new.
my guess is that she did do the trial of the grasses with yen using stabilizing magic to guide her through like with a´vallach. the reason i think she did it was to finally choose her own fate. we don´t see her teleport at all during the fight. by becoming a witcher, the mutations may have overrode her natural magic and changed it towards more limited witcher signs solely. also- being infertile would free her from the burden of pasing her super special blood on.
“That was a huge thing for us, to make that call [to mutate Ciri], not only for her, but for the game,” explains Małgorzata Mitręga, The Witcher 4’s executive producer. “But then it's so important and still leaves so much space for imagination, like when it happened, how it happened. It's just a tease showing something, but you don't know where you will experience it and how in the game. I think it's a huge change and I hope people did not expect it.”
witcher 3 was my favorite game, in a world where witchers are males, what sold me on it was the fantasy of playing as a badass monster slayer giga chad, i ain't playing as a girl, as much as i love the books and the games, and apparently they won't give us a choice you have to play as ciri, i'm not asking for geralt again, but i just can't play as a girl in a world like this it kills the immersion for me, the fan base already like her so my opinion is like the 10% but it is what it is, thank god we still have capcom and fromsoftware to deliver the masculine fantasy
Agree. I dont mine playing a female but she needs to be feminine like for example in stellar blade, if shes a "Boss" type its just kills it for me.. its like i'm playing a female character whos acts like a male..
You havent even finished a single game by the sound of it. If you did you wouldnt be saying dumbass shit like this. We're all better off without yall anyway
I can not “not be” excited about a new Witcher. I love Ciri. I think what was a first shock at seeing her, is that she has lost her innocence that we are used to. But after some thought, it makes sense. She has aged, and have been through some serious hardcore trials in life. It will harden her physical features- just look at female mma fighter pictures from teen to 30yo. I am going to stay optimistic and pray that they have an epic story about how she got to where she is.
What a surprise this trailer was!!! I love Ciri as a witcher, and for me it does not break canon...I mean, except the bad ending in which she dies, she may as well have tried being Empress for a bit, got fed up with it, and followed the Witcher's Path. Objectively though, the best ending was the Witcher Ciri ending, because this is what she always wanted. One thing I think is unavoidable, is that she must have gone through the TofG, otherwise she wouldn't have the signs...I am sure the game will explain the story. In any case, the trailer is faithful to the Witcher's dark and unforgiving universe. I hope for a Geralt appearance, but I will be content if they at least don't kill him, like DA did with Varrick... All in all a very promising trailer, we'll see...
I don’t think she’d need the trial of the grasses to cast signs. She already knows how to cast magic, and signs are just a very basic type of magic. She probably needed fo go through it to be able to drink that elixir though (but even then, it’s possible to come up with other explanations for it)
Signs are simple spells, not really something defined by being a witcher and in the books Ciri was taught spells by Yen, so that part isn't really a problem
I love the trailer. And so far it makes sense. There are some questions open, though. How and why is Ciri became a full Witcher? What does that mean for Nilfgard? What does that mean for the players choices in Witcher 3? What happaned to Geralt? Edit: I would also have prefered a Witcher where you maybe can create your own Witcher or at least you play a Witcher we haven't had heard from, yet. However if we talk about a character we know, Ciri makes the most sense!
Honestly I don't mind Ciri as the protagonist. I would like a simulate Witcher 3 save thing like they did for 3 to simulate 2. I think it would be interesting to see how that plays out
Geralt is definitely gonna be playable. He will be in sequences that make sense to the story. They’re not gonna pass up that nostalgia. I’m calling it right now.
idk why people want Geralt back when he literally retired in Blood And Wine DLC. assuming thats canon (it should be). also ppl saying its woke clearly never played witcher 3. theres the people saying Ciri looks bad. but i think she looks fine tbh. she just got older. also im not trusting anything cd projekt red puts out until the game is actually out lol 🤣
As Ciri is unique with her abilities maybe she found out that she is imune to the poison of the potions. If she had undergone the trial of the grasses, who have done it? Because the knowledge how to do that is pretty much gone.
I'm guessing that, if she •did• take the Trial of the Grasses and we're still leaning on the "bodies of children are more accepting of change" logic, I would assume that the associated bodily changes of pregnancy would be a way to go around that. Traditionally-masculine-presenting individuals tend not to get pregnant so their bodies change less over time but traditionally-feminine-presenting individuals' bodies change a LOT during pregnancy. Edit: that's not to say that Ciri became pregnant at any point, only that her body's assumed potential for accommodation to change (and likely the Elder Blood) makes her capable of passing the Trials.
After the witcher 3 ciri embarked on her own journey of becoming a witcher after fulfilling her own destiny of stopping a powerful threat after the events of witcher 3 and learned to controlled her godly powers but in this scenes she learned a dark side of monsters and humanity where the monster said she cannot changed fate and seeing the girl being stabbed by the villagers and justified their actions pushed ciri to the brink of apathy towards monsters and human nature.
Honestly, I prefer to play as Geralt, but Ciri is a well fleshed out character who has been established. At least they didn't just shoehorn in a female lead character because they felt like it.
Honestly I'm hyped i love ciri and I'm happy Geralt got his happy ending and retired i just hope they don't do him as they did vesemir but this is going to peak
Its fine. looking forward to Ciri's next arc. Really want to see what her powers are like now that she's older and more skilled. And what the world, politics and overall state of things are like now, many years later.
@@MrHazz111Siri is just not that interesting of a character. Yeah her powers are cool I guess but as a person she's just kind of flat and one dimensional
This was the plot that I was most looking forward to. I like most of everything we saw. Two things I'm a bit critical of is one I am not fond of ciris new voice. Her VA from Witcher 3 gave her such a unique dialog and accent whereas in this trailer this she sounds to be critical insignificant? Flat and not unique? Maybe it'll grow on me. Other thing is the Witcher potions, I certainly hope there's a good explanation for that and it's not just plainly written off. Her undertaking the trial? That's quite something. Anyways still pretty excited overall.
For the second, yeah there probably will be, hopefuly it's a good one. As for the VA, I see it, yeah, but Geralt also sounded kinda dumb in the killing monsters trailer.
To be honest this trailer does not stick the landing for me. You can go back and watch the killing monsters trailer for the witcher 3 and you get chills, but when watching this idk I just shrug. I don't even know why. Maybe if the monster fight would be shorter and then Ciri would kill the human responsible for killing the girl? that could maybe be more impactful?
Ciri has Elder blood (stronger than the elves), which is considered as the strongest bloodline in the Witcher, so it’s not far fetched that she would undertake the trial and survive. 9:19
In the game and in the books Ciri never becomes a Witcher, she is half elf and she has her own abilities. They definitely change the story and source material by a lot. I’m so disappointed
They always changed them and for the best as the book are mediocre or even pure bullshits. For excample in the books Geralt didnt choose The law of Surprice by accident but purposely as he knew (by his mutant hearing) that Paveta (ciris mother) was pregnat and he WANTED to take the child (yea, full predatory). Also Triss in the books is a nympho who wants to turn Ciri in a prostiture (while she is till not full adult). Yea Sapkwoski is a mediocre writer and he should be thankfull that cd project took his bullshits and retconed for the better
The first trailer for The Witcher 3 was a couple of years before the game game out, so it's likely be a similar timeframe tbh I recall it being mentioned they only wanted 5-6 years between started pre production and release, surely the game must have been in pre production for at least 3-4 years now.. right?
Why would character undergo the trial of the gassess when she has elder blood?wasn't the purpose of the trials to give powers to normal humans.she has the ultimate powers
Really wanted to see a prequel game. I find the Witcher history and brotherhood so interesting.
Same, a prequel would've been excellent..
The author of the books probably doesn't want them to do that
I remember seeing while back that they were going to remake the first game and remaster the 2nd but a prequel would be nice they have a lot of content for the Witcher series
its in the works
Read the books
The only thing I want from this game is for them to add the chain as a witcher tool. It was teased in witcher 1, I STILL think it's an amazing idea. They better add the silver chain.
So you want Kratos-style Chains of Olympus from GoW 1-3? 😂
It becomes very action-packed and monsters lean closer towards the button mashing simulators after that I think?
Would be great as a closer to mid/end-game reward.
Vesemir from the movie used chains as well. Would be cool to subdue enemies and for more mobility.
They did confirm it already.

We'll wait until much closer to a game's launch before we start showing things like trailers"

@@SofiiaDemborynska it’s literally up the person on what they like. Are you 12 years old?

Her voice is too deep for my liking. I hope her voice is just for the trailer and not in game.
@@PinkMarshmallowsyeah, I quite liked ciri’s voice from Witcher 3.
The points I find concerning: 1) Trailers got a very typical anti-Patriachy lean to it
2) Ciri is dressed like Geralt, fights like him and uses Witcher spells, so she's not Ciri anymore she's female Geralt
3) That sword isnt the one Geralt gifted her and the weapons design hints towards a more generic fantasy asthetic rather than a Wither one
4) The whole trailer rehashes elements of quests from prior Witcher games and ends on a Killing Monsters refernce, this hints some serious drops in creativity
5) the Witcher potion thing, so CDPR chose to ignore the minor backlash at Ciri using the line about it in blood and wine and quadruple down, really bad sign
And on to this all the agenda driven comments from the studio itself and this doesnt bode well, even if you don't believe in that, the lack of originality in the design and storyboarding should be a concern as Ciri using witcher powers alone hints they are using a rehashed combat system rather than a new unique one centered around her powers

I'm not a fan of this.. I like Ciri, but I don't like to play as her. I truly hoped we get the chance to create our own Witcher..

I can't really say I'm really excited for this, they're undoing some pretty established lore by making Ciri a full-blown witcher, which I'm never a fan of. In any case, I'm sure it'll be beautiful and I'll give it a go
Perfectly happy with Ciri as the main character, fought for her as Geralt, will be happy to fight with her on the path

But I can see an argument being made that the mutagens mute their emotions as it probably would make them more effective monster slayers.
my only concern is that, she has her blood magic and she is OP, no one wants to play as an OP character.
Now people calling her ugly... lol anime games exist, go fap there.
Except she was beautiful in Witcher 3.

Just a reminder to everyone that CD has put more work into their development. Basically they're putting more time into pre-development and less time into full-scale development. If what they say is correct, they will be spending around 2 years on full-scale development
Basically, they already know the story, characters, and features that are in the game, now they're just actually going all in on it. If the leaks are true, they already have this stuff ready and even some parts of the game playable to test it. Also they're using UE5 which makes the process easier. Man I can't wait
Excellent
That's awesome to hear.
No surprise witcher going full woke like the TV show gonna be lesbians galore and no geralt in sight.
Witcher 3 literally set this up, I can’t stand the woke shit either but I don’t think this will be as bad as people make it out to be.
Ciri is so powerful she could survive the trails. They know more of the lore than you do. Stop crying grow up
I agree with the point you made about specifically children undergoing the trials so they can be easily molded into a Witcher, this trailer does go against that lore detail.
@@ValidatedPerson Mate, Ciri literally defeated the apocolypse (White Frost), I'm sure she can manage the trials and mutations.
As a slavic man with over 150 hours in Witcher 3. I hate it.
as a german man with 100+ hours, me too
as a caribbean man with over 100 hours, me too.
As a south asian I agree too
As a man of West European ethnicity but mostly hovering over antipodean dirt and 500+ hours, I'll never accept that as Ciri.
One of the crones escaped with vesimirs medallion. Hope ciri gets it back!
On the other hand, they CLEARLY wanted to appeal NETFLIX fans with the:
1. Blacked eyes after a potion.
2. Spider-like monster.
That I don't like at all, of course.
I think it was more of a "hey netflix, this is how you fucking do it"
@@Vlugazoide Wasn't much better.
“Ciri as A protagonist” not “Ciri as THE protagonist”?! I wonder if they’ll do what Dishonored 2 did and let you play as Old Geralt or Ciri
Now i just hope after failing they realize it soon enough that without a witcher as the lore suggest an old man.. this game is just super hero medieval game.
exactly
Right, you would rather play as an old man who also happens to be a super hero wannabe in a medieval world.
Why is Ciri using Witcher signs? she has elder blood much stronger magic ,doesn't make sense maybe more to be revealed.
Oooo
Now this I like.
I initially had an issue with Ciri being the protag due to the open endedness of her story in the Witcher 3, and canonizing one ending leads to the other endings having less of an impact. I'm not mad at their decision tho, I still have my faith in CD Projekt Red that they'll deliver and make protagonist Ciri work.
also just a reminder, Cyberpunk 2077 had its first trailer in 2013 and released in 2020 so.
Also just a reminder, CDPR said going forward they’re going to be doing shorter campaigns for upcoming projects so.
Cant wait to get a 3rd person fantasy rpg game with my card game. GWENT 2 BABYYY!!!
They can say whatever they want. CDPRWoke lead is different than it was in w1, 2 and mid w3
well, the gamers think different, which is what matters
witcher 3 was my favorite game, in a world where witchers are males, what sold me on it was the fantasy of playing as a badass monster slayer giga chad, i ain't playing as a girl, as much as i love the books and the games, and apparently they won't give us a choice you have to play as ciri, i'm not asking for geralt again, but i just can't play as a girl in a world like this it kills the immersion for me, the fan base already like her so my opinion is like the 10% but it is what it is, thank god we still have capcom and fromsoftware to deliver the masculine fantasy
Same, i refuse to play as a girl. They are not built for combat.
Agree. I dont mine playing a female but she needs to be feminine like for example in stellar blade, if shes a "Boss" type its just kills it for me.. its like i'm playing a female character whos acts like a male..
There is just… so much wrong with everything being said here. Clearly you don’t love the games or books as much as you say you do.
You havent even finished a single game by the sound of it. If you did you wouldnt be saying dumbass shit like this. We're all better off without yall anyway
Game is not made for men anymore so you go girls, play this game, it's for you, girl power yeeeey.
Fingers crossed eh?
she doesnt die in the bad ending
I don’t think she’d need the trial of the grasses to cast signs. She already knows how to cast magic, and signs are just a very basic type of magic.
She probably needed fo go through it to be able to drink that elixir though (but even then, it’s possible to come up with other explanations for it)
Signs are simple spells, not really something defined by being a witcher and in the books Ciri was taught spells by Yen, so that part isn't really a problem
@borjaslamic yeah and Ciri really couldnt do them, but now she has witcher mutagens

And she still has so much room to develop now that she’s in this new role. It won’t be anything like the Witcher 3 Geralt.
@@anthonybarnes706 Good to know Geralt is peacefully attending to his garden with Yen while Ciri continues the adventures.
Honestly I'm hyped i love ciri and I'm happy Geralt got his happy ending and retired i just hope they don't do him as they did vesemir but this is going to peak
Playing as Ciri was always my least favorite thing in TW3..... so yay?
Its fine. looking forward to Ciri's next arc. Really want to see what her powers are like now that she's older and more skilled. And what the world, politics and overall state of things are like now, many years later.
I'm trying to get into the witcher series
Not to sound like a downer, but I really hoped that we would be playing as a customizable character instead of Ciri...
A fully fleshed out character is way better than a silent robot that you can make look like green goblin
@MrHazz111 This is a matter of taste, I would argue
That would be the absolute worst thing ever. This is why fans shouldn’t have a say in games
@@therandom.cowboy5526 wow dude... Like come on
@@MrHazz111Siri is just not that interesting of a character.
During The Game Awards, the trailer has a couple voice lines from an old man Geralt.
There's no way I'll accept that as Ciri.
Lore-breaking changes to Ciri and no Gerald? My DEI-senses are tingling. Hard pass.
I wanted a character creator, and to forge my own path. But this probably would be a 10x better narrative.
I’m fuckin hype, I was hoping the next game would be with ciri, Geralt deserved retirement watching on like a proud father
I have reached the point of not interested unless it’s proved to be good. Been burned too many times in the last few years.
That’s fair. Hope for thé best, prépare for thé worst.
(I don’t know why autocorrect started doing that to my ‘e’s)
Been waiting for a video from you, thank you!
Playing as Ciri, who somehow has a more male/square face now, and pretending to choose a love partner is simply not going to do it for me as in TW3.
The first trailer for The Witcher 3 was a couple of years before the game game out, so it's likely be a similar timeframe tbh
I recall it being mentioned they only wanted 5-6 years between started pre production and release, surely the game must have been in pre production for at least 3-4 years now.. right?
Yennifer knows how to do the Trial of Grasses
This ain’t woke. Ciri is a major character and they gave Geralt the best walk off in 3. So looking forward to this and Ciri!
Its been confirmed by the lead story artist that Ciri has undergone the Trial of the Grasses
Many at CDPR hinted at the awards basically saying watch for the Witcher 4 during the show.

well that lasted long.
A lot of witcher fans are insufferable when it comes to this stuff
Why would character undergo the trial of the gassess when she has elder blood?wasn't the purpose of the trials to give powers to normal humans.she has the ultimate powers
Maybe the medallion is a redesign of her school of the cat medallion she has.
I do notice that the tweet said that Ciri was A protagonist...not THE...
